I Walked Alone Through The Darkness Of The Night, My Heart Thudding Against My Rib Cage And Fear Pulsating Through My Veins Like Blood. Pin-Drop Silence Surrounded Me And I Heard Was The Tap Of My Heels; It Seemed Obnoxiously Loud In The Unnatural Silence. I Showed The World I Was Fearless, Brave, And Strong On The Outside, But My Insides Were In A Turmoil. I Was Afraid- No. I Was Terrified. Terrified Because I Didn't Know What To Expect. Terrified Because I Didn't Know How This Night Was Going To Turn Out. Terrified Because I Was Split Between The Two Most Important Things In My Life: My Duty And My Love.
As I Neared The Thick Trees In Front Of Me, I Heard The Sound Of Fast And Steady Footsteps Rummaging Through The Forest And My Hands Impulsively Reached For The Gun In My Back Pocket And Held It Up In Front Of Me. Yes, I Was Afraid, But I Was Determined To End This Today. I Was Not Going To Let Him Capitulate. I Made My Way Through The Agitating Trees And Saw Two Figures In Front Of Me Inside A Small, Old Tunnel. One Was On The Ground, Moaning Because He Was Most Likely In Tremendous Pain And There Was Someone Else. I Knew Who He Was. It Was Him. I Was Going To Call Him Out, But Words Betrayed Me As My Gaze Dropped To The Small Shiny Black Pistol In His Hand; I Simply Froze. No, This Couldn't Be Happening. I Have To Stop Him! With Determination Clear In My Eyes, I Stomped Through The Trees And Pointed My Gun At Him With No Intention Of Really Using It.
"Stop It, Arnav! Put Your Gun Down. Now!" I Yelled And His Head Snapped Up, His Pitch Black Eyes Piercing Through My Brown Ones.
"What Are You Doing Here? Get Out Of Here Before I End Up Doing Something I'll Regret Later." His Deep, Velvety Voice Boomed Through The Place, Sending Infinite Numbers Of Shocks Up And Down My Spine.
"I'm Only Going To Leave When I Die. Otherwise, You Can Just Forget About It." There Was A Moment Of Deafening Silence Between Us As We Both Glared At Each Other.
"Why Are You Here?" He Turned Around And Started Doing Loading His Gun.
"To Stop You From Doing Something You're Going To Hate Yourself For Later On." He Stopped And Walked Towards Me With Anger Evident In His Eyes.
"And Why Do You Care? I Thought Your Duty Was More Important Than Me So Just Get On With It." I Shook Because Of His Venom-Filled Words But I Was Not Going To Give Up.
"I Never Said My Duty Was More Important Than You And You Know It's Not True."
"Really?" He Started Walking Closer And I Moved Back Until I Hit The Hard Wall Behind Me. "So Why Didn't You Say Anything When Officer Washington Was Ripping My Uniform Off My Body And Accusing Me In Front Of All The Damn Officers For Something I Never Did!" I Moved My Face Away From Him As He Punched The Wall In Anger And I Winced Internally. I Could Feel My Eyes Welling Up In Anguish.
I Was Speechless. He Was Right. Why Didn't I Say Anything Then? I Knew All Those Accusations Were False. He Would Not Betray His Country By Helping Those Drug Dealers. Arnav Singh Raizada Was An Honest CIA Officer And Everyone Knew This. He Had Been Trapped Cleverly By The Members Of The Gang. This Obviously Made Him Mad. He Wanted Revenge. He Wanted Vengeance. But Why Couldn't He See This Was Going To Hurt Him Instead Of Help? Yes, I Knew He Was Right, But The Government? No. I Have To Stop Him.
"I'm Sorry, Arnav. I Know You Hate Me For Not Saying Anything That Day, But What Could've I Said? Do You Think Officer Washington Would've Listened To Me? No, He Would've. I Want To Stop You. I Want To Stop You Before You Ruin Everything For Yourself. Please Stop This. Your Anger Is Going To Destroy Everything. Please Don't Do This." I Explained Myself, My Eyes Begging Him To Listen To Me. He Didn't Say A Word, But I Could Tell His Features Were Softening, As If He Was Touched By What I Said.
"Why Do You Care, Khushi? Why Are You So Worried About Me?" He Questioned After A Long Moment Of Silence.
"Don't You Know Why?" I Asked Back, Letting Him Know How I Felt. His Brows Knit Together In Confusion And I Let Myself Drop My Gaze To His Lips And Swallowed The Bile In My Mouth. I Cupped His Cheek And Slowly Pulled Him Closer. "I Love You." I Whispered Softly And Heard Him Gasp Softly. I Closed My Eyes, Arching My Body Against Him And Parting My Lips As His Minty Breath Kissed My Lips.
"I Love You Too." He Whispered And Claimed My Lips, Kissing Me In A Slow And G
entle Manner. The Sound Of A Loud Boom Filled The Air And I Jerked My Eyes Open. I Saw The Man In Front Of Me Clutching Onto His Stomach And Collapsing To The Ground In What Seemed Like Slow Motion. Arnav Shot Him Once More Without Removing His Gaze From Me And I Turned My Gaze Back To Him.
I Didn't Know How This Was Going To Turn Out. I Didn't Know What Else Was In Store For Us. But I Knew One Thing. We Were Going To Get Through This- Together. I Love Him And He Loves Me. That's All That Matter.
