Mussadi Lal is back in Office!

You have been waiting for a show with great comic sense and actors who can carry it off... So don't forget to watch Mussadi Lal struggling to voice problems on 'Naya Office Office.'

From rising fuel prices to problems with the BMC. From corruption to bribery… Tackling issues will never be the same again..... And neither will comedy on television.

Naya Office Office returns with its sterling star cast, brand new episodes and stupendous comic plots! Catch Mussadi Lal protesting against VAT levied by the government as he dons the avtaar of a shopkeeper covered by news channel 'Kal Tak' in Episode 1.

The launch episode has Mussadi Lal giving an exclusive interview to reporter Pandeyji and cameraman Shukla. They tell him that this interview will be shown in the evening. But it is not aired, because Bhatia tells Pandey that there is nothing sensational about the news!

Mussadi comes to the office to find out why his interview was not shown as he is trying to get his message across to the government through the news channel. Patel tells him that he will have to pay a bribe for the news to be aired. Mussadi Lal threatens to commit suicide if Bhatia doesn't air the news.

Bhatia catches on to the idea and tells Mussadi Lal to threaten the Government, if the VAT isn't removed, he will commit suicide. He even convinces Mussadi Lal that this is the only way to get his message across.

Bhatia sensationalized the news by taking an interview of him but does not let him put his point across. The next day in a protest outside his shop Mussadi Lal is compelled by everyone around him to set himself on fire to get his point across... That's the launch episode in short for you!

To find out more, mark your diaries and meet Mussadi Lal and his gang on 'Naya Office Office', Fridays at 8.30 PM, only on STAR One!

Know more about the show, the characters and watch the hilarious videos at Naya Office Office!

Here are the main characters on Naya Office Office... For you!

Mussadi Lal : He plays a comman man who gets entangled in all the jobs he takes up lands paying bribes for his work to be done. He is the central character of this show.

Mr Bhatia : He is a man whose life only revolves around eating food. Beware! You must fill his stomach not only his pockets.

Mr Pandey : Very sensitive character (He looks so here too, right?) who gets offended if he is not called Pandeyji. And remember, "you still have to pay him to get anything done!"

Mr Shukla : He is man always eating paan. You are right - No civic senses! And he doesn't work without taking money!

Mrs Usha : You might feel happy seeing a woman finally at work in this office... But wait! Know what? She does her house chores in the office - Be it cutting vegetables or knitting! Worse still, she even gets this done by the people who want their work done!

The journey from Office to Office

Pankaj Kapoor, the lovable Mussadi Lal of Office Office, chats exclusively with Showbuzz Network about the revamped show, Naya Office Office

From the rising fuel prices to problems with the BMC, from corruption to bribery, tackling issueswill never be the same again! Naya Office Office returns with its hilarious star cast, new episodes and stupendous comic plots. Catch the lovable Mussadi Lal protesting against VAT levied by the government as he dons the avtaar of a shopkeeper tonight covered by the news
channel 'Kal Tak'. In an exclusive chat with Showbuzz Network, Pankaj Kapoor talks about the revamped show and his future plans. Naya Office Office premieres tonight at 8:30 pm on Star One.

How will Naya Office Office be different from the previous version?
The Naya Mussaddi Lal is the same Mussaddi Lal, the only difference is that he will tackle a host of newer and topical issues like multiplexes, hospitals, BMC problems, etc. Mussaddi Lal represents the voice of the common man, therefore, you will find his get-up simple and identif-
iable. This will help the audience instantly connect with him. You will also notice that the comic quotient has upped by a few notches! The offices that he visits now are swankier and bigger.

The show has been going on since a number of years, how do you plan to keep the audiences' interest intact?
The show was last seen three-and-a-half years ago. The ones that are now aired on Sab TV were the repeats. 'Naya Office Office' has new episodes with fresh concepts on a fresh channel! The show has been popular and people still fondly recall the episodes. The audience is definitely going to love it now that it's back after such a long gap.

How has the journey been, so far? Any funny incidents you recall during the shoots?
The journey on Naya Office Office has been very pleasant. I have a great rapport with my co-stars and with Rajiv (director-producer). There was no thinking from my side, when he approached me to ask, if I was interested in doing a second innings with him.

On a different note, will Karamchand, the serial, make a comeback?

I prefer not to say anything about this, right now. What are your future plans?
I can't reveal too much at this stage except that I have three films lined up. One of them is 'Blue Umbrella' and the other is 'Dharm'.

As an actor, what genre of acting do you find most challenging?
Every role is challenging, since one has to get into the skin of the character and identify with the psyche. Comedy is as tough as playing a serious character!

What about the current state of Indian television and where does comedy stand in this
scenario with reference to Naya Office Office?

I believe that television is a medium for the masses. What is shown will influence the larger audiences, in general. Television has gone through a sea of change. There are several genres being explored, comedy being one of them. Since it's addressing the larger audience, content should not be sensationalised and exaggerated.

Meet the characters of Naya Office Office

Srabanti Chakrabarti | July 21, 2006 17:40 IST

Comedy appears to be the buzzword on TV these days. Almost all channels are trying their best to reap in the benefits from this cash cow. So much that Star Television has decided to revive its popular show Office Office.

Called Naya Office Office, the serial will be about situations and funny incidents that take place in our daily lives. The show revolves around six characters -- Mussadilal, Mr Bhatia, Mr Pandey, Mr Shukla, Mrs Usha and Mr Patel.
Like the earlier version, Naya Office Office deals with the problems faced by the characters -- from rations to electricity bills, insurance policies to the telephone exchange. But not everything is the same. From the traditional government office environment, the new show moves to a more contemporary situation. It stars Pankaj Kapoor, Manoj Pahwa, Hemant Pandey, Sanjay Mishra and Asawari Joshi. Vrijesh Hirjee, plays the role of Mr Patel, which was earlier played by Deven Bhojani. Here's what they had to say about the show's return.

Vrijesh Hirjee plays Mr Patel

Patel is a typical government employee. If any client talks to me without greasing my palms, I have very little to do! I am very excited about this serial and agreed to do it the minute I heard the script.

I have to carry the additional burden of living up to audience expectations. As this role was earlier played by Deven Bhojwani, expectations are high. There is bound to be some comparison. But Deven and I are different individuals. I will portray the character in my own style. I have acted with almost everyone in the cast earlier. I have worked with Pankaj Kapoor in Godan and have great respect for him. I am confident the audience will like Naya Office Office. They will be able to connect with the contemporary issues portrayed in the show.

Hemant Pandey plays Pandeyji

Mr Pandey is a very sensitive person and gets offended if he is not called Pandeyji!
He is the same old character from the earlier version and you have to pay him to get anything done. The new show carries on the legacy of good work from its predecessor. Only the channel has changed; everything else is the same.
I last worked in LOC, and it feels great to be back on TV. Rajeev Mishra is an excellent director and the sort of person you can rely on. The script is the base of any comedy and he has done justice to it. There is no denying the fact that an additional responsibility has to be shouldered if you are working in a sequel. But I would not like to call this a sequel -- it is an extension to the old show. For me, a perfect comedy needs to have perfect timing. And Naya Office Office does.

Manoj Pahwa plays Mr Bhatia

Mr Bhatia's life revolves around eating. It is not enough to grease his palms, you have to fill his stomach as well!
We have put in a lot of effort and I am eagerly awaiting the response to the first show. Despite everything else remaining the same, the packaging is different. Teamwork is very important for success and this serial is strong on that front. Lately, the standard of comedy shows has been dropping. This is going to give back comedy the stature it deserves. We completed 250 episodes the last time; I am sure there will be more this time!
Asawari Joshi plays Mrs Usha

Mrs Usha does all her housework at the office -- be it cutting vegetables or knitting sweaters. Best of all, she gets this done by people who want their work done by her.

Naya Office Office
is not very different from the old one. People know that government offices will never change their way of working, and that is what they want to see. I am the only lady in the cast. Whenever the audience thinks of Ushaji, it has to be me. No one can replace that. The show has that combination of a powerful script, good performances and perfect timing. I am confident it will be a huge success this time too.

Office office is a great show. But I really miss Jatin Kanakia and the rest of the gang in Sriman Srimati. That was one of the greatest and funniest shows on Indian television.
Is it possible for anyone to upload its link?
