Even GOW would have been a great entry. It was well received at TIFF with great reviews.

Look, Barfi was chosen for basic reason becuae of its highlightning India in very bright or say very good positive manner!!!!

But yes since Oscars Favour films like Slumdog which jus showcased slums and poor people, throwing nation in such bad light... So yes you all r right to say that GOW and PST Would have surely been in good choice

(not saying they were good films)

Yes the movie shows a fantasy version of how those with disabilities live
in a la la land society.

Mr. Basu and others should now make a movie that showcase how the very characters
in "Barfi" are really treated and shunned because of their disabilities in many cultures
and society.
