Two separate threads - one for Reviews & one for movie discussion

We are looking for members opinion on this issue related to the reviews thread.

There are two sets of members who go through the reviews thread.

One, There are lots of members who read the review threads specifically for the critics and members reviews(both positive and negative). They find it hard to navigate through hundreds of pages to just look at the reviews. Its hard for them to go through pages and pages of back and forth discussion related to the minute details and analysis related to the movie. They do have a valid concern.

Two, There are lots of members who like to discuss the movie with fellow members. They like to analyse the finer points...They like to criticise the movie...They like to share opinions...They like to discuss the positive and negative aspects of the movie. Fair enough.

Its not fair to restrict the members from discussing and analysing the movie. At the same time we need to be fair to the ones who read the thread just for the members/critics reviews.

We came up with this solution that could be fair balance for both. How abt we have two review threads.

-One review thread will have just the member reviews( both positive and negative), critics reviews, positive and negative tweets related to the movie and the box office collections/updates. That will be a sticky.

-The second thread will be a movie discussion thread. That will have the discussions and analysis related to the movie. In this thread everything related to the movie can be discussed. Negative opinion, positive opinion, feedback, analysis, opinions related to the concerned movie and the concerned actors/actress.

Also if someone wants to discuss and quote a member review or a critic review that's posted in the reviews thread, they can quote that post and discuss that in the movie discussion thread.

That way, the ones looking just for the reviews will have a review thread that just has the reviews and box office updates/collections. The ones looking to discuss and analyse the movie will have a separate thread to have a discussion with fellow members.

Can we also include box office numbers in the second thread and not first? It causes a huge debate and ruins the thread, making it difficult to find reviews.

Reserved. i think Bo numbers should be in review thread. now people want to discuss them thry can in discussion thread

I would say...two threads...one for reviews and other one for discussion...and also Maddy while we are at it...can u please remind the members that review thread is for all kinds of reviews...postive and negative...and there is no point of mocking a member if they are posting only negative reviews...Thanks.

one thread ...

in one thread one can add index at the first page abt where the reviews r ... after opening a review thread one can reserve a post just for index ...and can provide links of those pages which has reviews of critics or members

I believe its hard to keep one thread just for Reviews ( be it critics reviews or members ) and tweets ... members will end up discussing in that thread too , even if there will be a special thread for the discussion ... its bound to happen

two separate threads, for the simple reason that the spoilers in the discussions ruin everything =( I go there to look for reviews and carefully screen the posts to make sure I dont see a spoiler, but then BAM.

Two separate threads would be very welcome.Box office should preferably be included in the Review thread.Its easier for members who want a quick overview about the film.

A suggestion...all films dont need 2 separate threads..members get involved only in threads of potential blockbusters or films of major stars..

here I agree ...not all movies need two threads ... only those which has more fan following at IF like Salman movies SRK , Kareena

look at Barfi review thread ... no fights ...very Well behaved thread ... simply movie discussion is happening there and its also easy to find reviews in that thread

so Maddy i think Two thread idea is suitable only for few selective movies , as i prefer one thread only ... so if u want open two threads only for few selective movies

One thread is fine. Having two threads would be confusing for some people. Some of us like me like to read discussions, reviews and BOI all together in one thread..

As some people have stated just make a index on first page having all the review pages listed so its easier for people who just want to read review to find them..
