Vaishnavi refuses to grow old[Madhavi]

If some young actor is asked to play an old character and he or she refuses then it's understood, but what about those who are approaching middle age and in real life also, look like parents of teenage kids? Yesteryears film heroine Vaishnavi is one such lady who refuses to age. After accepting and playing the mother's character in Ek Ladki Anjani Si on Sony, the ageing actress has suddenly started realising that it's not her age to play a mother on-screen. So much so that if someone calls her with an offer, the first thing she says is, "If it's for the role of a mother, then I am not interested."

And since no one is willing to cast her in younger roles, the actress has more free time on hand and is using it to hone her singing skills. When asked, Vaishnavi had this to say, "I want to play roles that reflect my personality and my liveliness. I don't want to play college girl roles obviously, but roles with more substance are what I am now looking at. I also look forward to playing characters I haven't portrayed before, like a negative personality."

Now someone should make Vaishnavi understand that in television, at her age, nothing can be more substantial than playing the second fiddle to main lead actors. But whatever we say, the actor is all set to look and play young. And it's her strong believe in herself which has prompted her to go ahead and get a photo shoot in modern outfits that would make her look young.
