Meenal Jain has always lived life on her own terms. When she was 11 years old, her elder sister, a trained classical dancer, was practicing to a song 'Piya Tohse Naine Laga Re'.
The song caught the attention of young Meenal so much that she wouldn't stop singing it and was even invited on stage by composer Ravindra Jain who had come to as a chief guest at her sister's show. A few words of appreciation from Ravindra Jain and Meenal knew what she would aspire for in life.
With the intention to become a singer, at the age of 11, Meenal urged her parents to allow her to enter Suresh Wadkar's training institute in Mumbai where music was taught in the guru-shishiya tradition.
But after three months of rigorous training here, Meenal couldn't take it any longer. She was so homesick that she had to leave the institute and go back to Indore.
But life was not going to be easy for her then. She felt so miserable on committing, what she considers, the biggest mistake of her life. She came back to Mumbai in three days flat but didn't go back to the institute. Instead, she started learning music on her own from different people whilst completing her studies too.
An extrovert by nature, Meenal aims to make a new friend everyday. In her free time, she listens to Asha Bhonsle, adores Sunidhi Chauhan and dreams of Bryan Adams. Sometimes she also finds herself playing a game of basketball or badminton, depending on her mood.
For Meenal Jain, Indian Idol is an opportunity to gain popularity, something that she has always dreamt about. She wants to be known the world over with people admiring her. But this dream girl also knows that the road to Indian Idol isn't too easy. So she is spending most of her time practicing for each big day, as she sails through the competition.

Meenal Jain voted out on Indian Idol 2

Out of the very long list of 30, 000 singers, now only Top 06 finalists are left. They are the lucky and exceptionally talented vocalists of the series who have touched the heights of the show. And as it is obvious, only one amongst them will be the Indian Idol of the nation, nonetheless they all have become the celebrities. Even to some, Anu Malik has promised to give songs to sing in movies.
The nation now has given its decision for this week. And out of the top 6, Meenal Jain was voted out and she had to leave the show. Once again, the nation did the same thing and sent the real talent out of the program. Antara Mitra (whom Anu Malik has confirmed to give a song to sing in a movie) was called first in Bottom three. Then Meenal Jain was called followed by N C Karunya. These three were called the best singers of Indian Idol's bunch but unfortunately they got the wobbly position.
And finally the result was announced and Meenal was voted out of the show despite the fact she was the best performer of Indian Idol 2. The nation once again made a big mistake. "I promise to make Meenal do playback singing for me", Anu Malik promised to her being really upset with the decision. Sad Meenal reassured her fans and judges, "I promise to be back with a bang". Farah was looking upset for her criticism on Meenal for her past performances and said, "I am now feeling guilty as to why was I critical of her performances. I gave those criticisms with clear intentions of improving her but I guess the viewers took it in the wrong sense. She was one of my favourite finalists". The top 5 left are Amey Date, N C Karunya, Antara Mitra, Sandeep Acharya and Anuj Sharma. Watch the show while tuning into Sony Entertainment channel on Mondays - Tuesdays
