Although I've grown up watching CID on Sony, I'm a die hard fan of American Criminal Investigation shows like CSI New York and Criminal Minds. Both of these shows have drama and spice but along with that they provide viewers with interesting plots, smart gadgets, intelligent law enforcement officers and they keep the viewers guessing.
I always felt that Indian Television had scope to create an intelligent criminal investigation show but always succumbed to saas bahu sagas. The rare shows that made appearances never portrayed scientific reasoning or intelligent behavioral analysis. The crimes were recycled, the dialogues came from 1970s films, DNA was overused, the goons look like jokers and THEY WERE SO PREDICTABLE. Crime Patrol and Savdhan India are good shows but I don't put them In the same category as Arjun or CID.
Arjun is a breath of fresh air. Finally a Indian Criminal Investigation show that I can look forward to every week. I'll admit it's not on the same level as the CSI's or Law and Order but its got some serious kick to it. The characters are a good mix of a crazy bunch that makes sense, Rawte and Rathod being my favorite from the group. Arjun's ability to see beyond the surface and his intense persona as a brooding, hurt soul is smart and touching. Rathod is a true leader, practical, trustworthy and law abiding. Hence he leads when needed and follows when needed. Shri as the tech guru and geek goes straight to my heart. I always love the geeks even though Rawte and Rathod have my heart in this one. Chote, well the name says it all. The tough guy with the emotional touch.
The only character that I wish was a little different is Ria. The sole female of the lot. A girl that should represent all of us modern girls ready to take on the world. I love that Ria is vulnerable and shown to try to fit into the male dominated, testosterone heavy group but the girl needs to have a little bit more of a "kick butt" quality. Why is she the only one from the group that CAN'T SHOOT?? Because she's the girl? Yes, she's emotional because she's a girl but come on...Who always makes the mistakes? Ria! Who needs protection? Ria! Can't wait for an episode where Ria saves someone or make an intelligent analysis.
Please don't get me wrong...I've become a huge fan of this show. I hope it just gets better and better. and I'm really giving the CVS credit for this one!!! Just waiting to see some growth when it comes to the portrayal of Ria's character. All the actors are playing their characters with aplomb, but the actor playing Rathod takes the cake. Don't worry guys, Arjun is also on my fav list; however he needs just a tad bit more growth as an actor. It is after all his first try.
It's obvious I'm a fan because if you've read any of my posts you'll realize I'm never the one to start a topic ;)
