VirMan - Their Journey Against Cancer [Part 3]
Note: This entire part is dedicated to the memory of the VirMan staircase sequence. I felt this segment, though extremely short and unbelievably hot, low on dialogues and high on VM background music - had a huge impact on the future of VirMan. So here's a stair-case dominated Part 3. I promise Part 4 will have more variety of scenes.
She had lost hope of finding a support to cling on, a pillar to cry on.
That's when he walked in, hiding his tears and his pain; holding her trembling hand through out.
Chemo session done, she worried about what would happen next. The hairfall that was soon approaching. She cried helplessly as tried to avoid the fact that she would soon lose her beloved hair. The beauty of a girl, the charm of a woman ' all to be lost soon.
'Tum nahi jaante Viraat. Ek ladki ke liye uske baal kya maine rakhte hain.'
And he assured her that beauty wasn't just skin deep. It came straight from the heart.
'Khubsurati dil se hoti hai. Aur tumhara dil hamesha tumhare paas rahega. Isliye tum hamesha khubsurat rahogi.'
When he said that they would remain partners for life, she wanted to tell him she wanted the same as well. She wanted to apologize for wasting those few precious moments of life fighting with him. She wanted to tell him that he was the best friend she had ever had. She wanted to thank him for wiping her tears away. She wanted to tell him how safe she felt in his arms.
He tried to tell her how much it pained him to see her cry. He wanted her to see herself through his eyes and see for herself, how beautiful she was. He wanted to tell her that he could be mad at himself, but never at her. He loved her way too much for that. He tried to put every feeling that he had bottled up inside through one little kiss.
She broke apart, embarrassed by the boundaries of friendship that they had just crossed. They were friends, not lovers. Yet. So why were they wrapped in each other's arms? Why was her leg on his? Why was her hand on his bare chest and why was his hand on her hair? Why did it suddenly feel so awkward with her partner?
He wondered what had gone wrong. Oh right, she didn't know he felt. She didn't know that the reason she was sweating was because of the raw, burning desire that he had kept clenched inside his heart for her. She didn't how desperately in love he was with her. She wouldn't know. Not now. Not so soon.
He knew he couldn't tell her, but the frenzy in heart refused to calm down. He didn't want to pressurize her with his love, yet he wanted her to know what exactly she meant to him. He wanted his feelings to remain a mystery, but he was tired of playing the game of emotional hide-and-seek with Maanvi.
She couldn't look him in the eye, not after what had happened. She dared not face those eyes again. For she knew that even though she could deny the truth to herself, she wouldn't be able to keep it from her partner. She had to know what this was before he figured it out.
So she turned away from him and closed her eyes, praying for him to go away. This was new ground for her, and she was extremely nervous of losing this battle to him before she even knew what the battle was about. She had to find out what it was that was tugging at her heart. She had to find out what he truly meant to her.
