Rahul Saxena may have been voted out of the top 11 Indian Idol contestants, but the 22 year old is still very busy! After chasing him for two days, Rahul finally relented and gave Patcy N an appointment. Arguably, Indian Idol currently is India's most popular reality show. Many viewers believed Rahul was one of the more talented singers on the show, and unfairly voted out by the millions who vote for the ones who stay on the programme. With less than two days to go for the results of the Indian Idol final between Abhijeet Sawant and Amit Sana to be declared, rediff.com spoke to Rahul, who has been signed on by Indian Idol judge Farah Khan, to sing in her new film, Happy New Year, starring Shah Rukh Khan. Tell us about yourself. I have completed my graduation from Delhi's Shyamlal College of Arts and Commerce. I shifted to Mumbai in June 2004.
My father is a government employee -- he works in the telephone exchange. My mother is a housewife. What made you participate in Indian Idol? I saw the ads on television. My friends were taking part and asked me if I would join too. I was not sure because I thought Indian Idol was not a show for singers. They wanted a good performer, dancer and singer.

I can perform as a singer, but not as an actor. So I told my friends I would accompany them for the auditions but would not sing. But when I went, I thought I'd give it a try. I got selected.
