He would shout at her and instantly apologise. She would never take it to heart, she knew he loved her with all his heart but he was frustrated. Di had never been the same since she lost her baby. One day Khushi couldn't bear it anymore, she couldn't stand the sadness on Di's face, the anger on Dadi's and the frustration on Arnav's so she decided to leave.
She left him a letter, wanting a divorce. He was left shattered, to pieces.
A year later everything was back to "normal" at the Raizada mansion apart from Arnav. He was forced to fake a smile, a laugh every day of his life for his Di. Shyaam's evil tricks were exposed to the Raizadas and Dadi, they found out how he was responsible for Anjalis miscarriage. They also knew that Dadi aided him, in directly. Arnav had nothing but hatred for Dadi. The whole family disliked her, because of her they lost two people.
Dadi failed to accept the blame. She would try and divert it to Khushi. Khushi, the girl who brought happiness to the Raizadas.
Arnav still missed her like crazy, but he accepted the fact that she's better off without him. He was now a single man. He kept himself busy, working 24/7. He even became friends with his sister in law, Payal only because it was the closest he would get to Khushi. Neither Payal nor the Gupta family knew where Khushi was. Every so often she would send a letter claiming that she's fine but that was it.
Arnav was getting ready for his business trip, it was in Shimla. He had butterflies in his stomach for some odd reason. Anjali walked in to his room, "Chotte take care of yourself, don't work too hard" she said cupping his face. "Di, I'll be fine. You take care of yours" he was interrupted before he could finish his sentence. "you don't need to worry about your Di Arnav oops I mean boss" said a man who was suited top to bottom. Anjali had in fact got married again but this time to Aman. Arnav smiled, nodded and walked out.
Arnav arrived in Shimla. He felt butterflies in his stomach. This feeling was sickening to him.
His several meetings were over and he headed to one of the restraunts to eat. "Table for one" he said, the waitress gave him a look. He didn't like the look. She seemed mischievous. He ignored her and ordered his dinner. He began to play with his ring which caught the waitress' attention.
"Arnav! SIT DOWN RIGHT NOW!" he heard a woman shout. He turned around, that voice sounded similar. There she was. An angel in white. "Khushi" he whispered, he noticed that as soon as he said her name she placed her hand on her heart. She smiled and attended to the little child.
He got up from his seat, he was about to approach her until he noticed the sindoor on her forehead and the mangalsutra around her neck. His world began to crumble, once again. He noticed she was surrounded by 4 children and a man. He saw the man tug Khushi's arm, requesting her to sit down.
She's married, he thought. She's moved on. She's happy. She's still beautiful. She's not mine. And he walked away. He dreamt of this moment but alas it was not meant to be.
All of a sudden a small child ran into him, "ouch!" he cried. Arnav turned around and saw the child on the floor. He quickly went towards him "are you okay?" he asked. The little child just looked at him, teary eyed. "Arnav! How many times have I told you to look where you going!" cried Khushi. Before she could continue she realised that Arnav Singh Raizada was standing before her. Her eyeballs nearly popped out of their sockets, her jaw dropped. "You?!".
"Hi Khushi, and yes me" replied Arnav by this time little Arnav had ran off back to the table. "Shocked to see me huh?" he asked. Within an instant Khushi had grabbed for her mangalsutra. "I see you're married" he continued. "Congrats". He seemed genuinely happy for her.
Khushi had not said a single word. She wanted to hug him, her eyes went towards his hand. He too was wearing a ring on his wedding finger. "Congrats to you too" she finally said gesturing at his hand. She smiled, he smiled
.
"You must be happy now?" he asked looking towards the table, he could see the man giving him evil looks. "Actually Khushi I should leave you to it. I must get going. Bye" and he walked out before she should say another word.
"No Arnav ji, I am not happy. Not without you" she whispered and she walked back to the table.
That night both Khushi and Arnav were unable to sleep. "How could she think I would get married again" he thought. He wanted to cry, but he had no right. He had hurt her enough in the past.
Khushi on the other hand also wondered the same thing. "How could he get married again?!". She cried herself to sleep that night.
Another day had passed, the star crossed lovers had become restless. They longed to see each other but they resisted temptation.
It was Arnavs last day in Shimla and Khushi was the only thing on his mind. His phone rang. It was Di. "Chottee remember to donate some money to the orphanage on behalf of mum" she said. "Ofcouse Di, I'm just on my way to the orphange now" and he put the phone down.
He finally arrived at the orphanage, it was also a place for adults with severe disabilities and mental disorders. He was greeted by an old woman, he engaged in some causal chitchat and handed her the cheque when suddenly he heard a familiar voice. "Noo Rahul, my name is Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada!". He turned around, he saw her with the very man who was at the restraunt, giving him evils. "Who's that?" asked Arnav, "that is Rahul, one of our long time residents and the woman beside him is Khushi. She practically looks after him" replied the old lady.
"Singh Raizada?!" he muttered "she's still using my name? why?". He began to walk towards her "but she divorced me. Wait, why is she wearing her sindoor and mangalsutra?". He was getting closer, so close that he could smell her perfume. He extended his arm out, placed it on Khushi's shoulder causing her to suddenly turn again.
"Arnav ji? You?" she asked. "Khushi, why are you still using my name? Why are you still wearing a sindoor and a mangalsutra?" he curiously asked. She was speechless. She opened her mouth to talk but nothing was coming out, how on earth was she ever going to explain that those divorce papers were fake?! It was just so that he could move on, without her.
"Khushi, damnit! Tell me now!" he said raising his tone and grabbing Khushi by her shoulders. She stared at his hands, she finally said "not here, lets go upto my room".
They were finally in her room. "Arnav ji, you should go, go back to your wife". "Khushi, I haven't gotten married again. It's just a normal ring I wear on my wedding finger". This shocked Khushi. Her mouth formed a perfect 'O'. "And I'm not leaving without answers" he said.
"Arnav ji, those divorce papers.. were fake. I only wanted you to think we were divorced so that you could move on. I didn't want to hurt you but I had to leave you. The whole family was destroyed because of me. If I hadn't walked into your life none of this would have happened. Di wouldn't have lost her baby, Shyaam wouldn't have come after me and you and Lavanya Ji would have been married" she cried.
A smile appeared on Arnavs face. He finally found his happiness, his Khushi. Without a moments delay, he hugged her. Khushi could help herself from hugging him back. "Khushi, please come back home?" he asked, cupping her face. Ever since you left, our house has been drained of its happiness. Please come back?".
Before Khushi could reply, little Arnav ran into her room. Arnav stared at him, "urhm Khushi, he's not ours is he?". "No Arnav Ji, he was born on the very day I got here. So I named him Arnav, after you" she said picking the little boy up "his mum works for this institution".
After several hours and after many requests, Khushi finally decided to return back home with Arnav only to be greeted by the whole Gupta and Raizada family. "We missed you Khushi ji" cried Anjali as she hugged Khushi.
Khushi had finally returned to her throne, with her prince Arnav.
