When Rani Mukerjee played a physically challenged person in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Black', she won awards at the highest levels for her.
Now with Priyanka Chopra too bagging a part which can be considered fairly challenging in Bollywood parlance since she is playing an autistic in 'Barfi!', one pretty much assumes that stage has been set for her to deliver a career best performance.
"See, I haven't seen all her movies to see how she has progressed as an actor in her career.
Hence, it would be rather odd for me to make any proclamations. But yes, I can definitely declare that this is something really new that she has done", says Anurag Basu, "I am also happy with the kind of commitment she has shown towards the film; she has gone all out."
He also quashes rumours around Priyanka being responsible for the delay in film's shoot since she was giving more time to 'Don 2', 'Agneepath' and 'Teri Meri Kahaani'.
"Both Priyanka and I are still puzzled about where did this news come from", says Anurag, "Here she was giving 100% to the film and delivering her best. On the other hand such rumours were being floated.
In fact Priyanka was very pissed off due to this. She used to in turn ask me if I had any clue about the origin of these rumours and I had no answers either.
It was quite a sad situation because whatever being written around was untrue."
While this should set the records straight, one now looks forward to the actual content of the film once it hits the screens on 14th September.
