Chapter 5:
Recap: Semi-Formal Dance.
Next morning, Sharon and Kria packed their bags since they were going home for the weekend. They walked in the corridor and waved bye to their friends who were getting ready to go home as well. After that, they went and waited in the common waiting area. After sometime, Sharon got bored because Rey hadn't come yet. "Where is Rey? Why hasn't he come yet?" Sharon asked,irritated. "He'll come chill." Kria said, supporting Rey. "When? Next week? Well I wanna go home today. So I'ma gonna go and call him." Sharon said. Kria shrugged. "Are you coming with me?" Sharon asked. "Nah, I'm okay over here. Come soon." Kria said. Sharon got up and waited outside the boys dorm. She couldn't go inside so she dialed Rey's number. "Rey! Where the hell are you? Aren't you the least bit excited to go home? Come down as soon as possible or else I'm telling Mom that you want to stay in school for the weekend." Sharon screamed. "Shar! Sis, chill.I'm almost down.I'll come. Swayam's coming down. Get the music CDs from him." Rey said. Sharon turned back on hearing Swayam's name. She saw him walking casually with one hand in his pocket and the other holding the music CDs. He had a Dark Blue Puma bag with one strap flung clumsily on one of his shoulders and the other strap hanging freely. He had a cap on and he looked like he didn't care about anything else in the world other than himself. Sharon smiled on seeing him and admired him like she did every single day. She never got bored of looking at him and admiring him and everything. Swayam saw Sharon and he waved. Sharon waved back. He walked towards her and her heartbeat increased when he stood in front of her. "Hey. All set to go home?" Swayam asked. "Yea definitely. You?" Sharon asked. "Ofcourse. I also have to attend this party. Some relative's birthday and all." Swayam said. "Oh enjoy. You're still coming over to my house right?" Sharon asked, hoping that the plan wouldn't be cancelled this time. "Ofcourse. I'll be there in the evening. Around 6. Shar, can you please ask your Mom to make that chocolate pudding. It tastes delicious. If she can, that it." Swayam asked. "Yay! He's coming." Sharon thought to herself and then smiled at him. "Awesome. And yea, I'll tell her to make it." Sharon said. She thought about her Mom's chocolate pudding. It was her all time favourite. Her mom made the best chocolate pudding. Even though, she and her Mom didn't get along that well, she always loved learning to make new things from her Mom. And she had learnt to make this chocolate pudding too. She and Swayam kept smiling at each other, not knowing what to say. Then Sharon broke the silence when she saw the cds in Swayam's hands. "Umā¦.Swayā¦.the CDs." Sharon said, putting her hand out. Swayam looked at the CDs. "Oh yea. Here." Swayam said, and gave them to Sharon. Sharon smiled. "Soā¦." Sharon began trying her best to make conversation. Just then Rey shouted to which both of them turned to look at him. "Hey Shar! I'm here." Rey said. Rey came towards them and then he said Swayam that he'll meet him at home and then they did that cool-dude- handshake and all. "C'mon Shar." Rey said, when he realized that Sharon wasn't following him after he walked a few steps. "Just a second. You go. Kria was asking for you anyway. She's waiting where you guys meet everyday." Sharon said. "Really. She is?" Rey asked. "Yea. Really. Run." Sharon said, even though Kria hadn't asked about Rey or anything. She just wanted to be with Swayam for some more time. Just then his phone rang. Swayam answered. He started talking in Hindi to the person, probably his Mom or Dad. After he hung up, he made an apologetic face. "Shar I'm sorry. But I have to leave now. My Dad's been waiting for a long time." Swayam said. "Ohā¦Okay then. I'll see you at home." Sharon said. "Okay. Bye." Swayam said. "Yea, bye." Sharon said. "Why don't we walk together till the gate?" Swayam asked. "Sure." Sharon said, and they started walking. They saw Kriyansh talking to each other and Kria and Rey also joined Sharon and Swayam. Swayam and Kria got into their respective cars and went.
Rey and Sharon waited for five more minutes before their car arrived. It stopped a few yards away from where they were standing. Sharon and Rey didn't even notice their car because they were busy texting their friends and everything. After a while ,Sharon told Rey to call their mom. Just then a person walked towards them. "Hey Kids! Did I make you wait for too long?" the person asked. Hearing the familiar voice, both of them looked up from their phones. Sharon was the first one to react. "DAD!!!!!!" She squealed with excitement and ran to him and enclosed him in a bear hug. Rey also came and hugged his dad. "How come you're here dad? I thought you had gone to India." Sharon said. "Yes princess but I returned 2 days back. I told your Mom not to tell you because I wanted it to be a surprise." Their dad said. "I missed you Dad. So much." Sharon said, hugging her dad again. "I missed you too princess." Her dad said and kissed her on the cheek. Rey smiled at how his sister was acting. She always acted like a 5 year old with her Dad. She was her Dad's pet. Dad's princess. Dad can never see her hurt. "Let's go." Her dad said. Rey and Sharon walked with their dad to the car, Sharon clung to her dad the whole way.
Sharon and Rey knocked on the door of their house. Their mom opened the door. Their Mom smiled on seeing them. She hugged Rey. And then she hugged Sharon too, but not like she hugged Rey. Rey was their Mom's pet. But Sharon was used to this so she just let it go. They went to their rooms and lazed around for a bit when Sharon remembered something. She rushed downstairs to the kitchen. "Mom, can you please make that chocolate pudding please?" she asked. "Now? I can't make it now." Her Mom said. "Kyunnn???" Sharon asked. "Kyunki I don't have the time. I have a meeting at my office at 6." Her mom said. Sharon asked her mom a billion times but her mom said no. Sharon went back to her room disappointed. Then an idea struck her. She went to Rey's room which was right across hers. "REY!" she screamed. "What?" Rey asked, busy using FB on his laptop. "I need your help." Sharon said. "Can't you see I'm busy?" Rey said, still chatting with someone and not bothering to look at Sharon. "You can talk to Kria later. If you want, I'll ask her to come over here." Sharon said. "How do you know I'm talking to Kria?" Rey asked, and turned around so fast. "It's obvious. You like all her pics and statuses and all. It's so obvious you like her. Either tell it to her otherwise make it less obvious." Sharon said. "SHAR!! YOUā¦." Rey started, but Sharon stopped him. She thought of blackmailing him. "If you don't do this for me, I'll tell Kria you like her. I think she likes you too." Sharon said. "You are not uttering a word about this to Kria,okay? If you do, I'll tellā¦I'll tellā¦" Rey started, but Sharon just smiled. "What will you say and to who? I don't even like anyone. Now listen bro." Sharon said. "Fine. I bet Mom will make it if I ask her." Rey said. "I know. That's why I'm telling you to ask her." Sharon said.
Both of them walked down the stairs. Sharon hid behind the wall and watched as Rey went into the kitchen. He went and hugged his Mom. "Do you want anything Rey?" his mom asked. "Momā¦I'm really hungry. I'm craving that chocolate pudding of yours." Rey said, and turned back to give a thumbs up sign to Sharon. "What is with you and Sharon today? It applies for everyone. When I say I can't make it, I can't. Just take something else and eat." His mom said. "Momā¦ā¦.!!!" Rey said. "Sorry, but I just can't make it today. I'm very busy." His mom said. Rey stomped out from the Kitchen and Sharon was laughing her head off. "look at your face!!!! Actually even I'm surprised that Mom refused to make it for you." Sharon said. "Shut up!" Rey said and slammed his room door shut. Sharon still couldn't help laughing. She started listening to music on her Ipod after a while.
Sharon's parents went out at 4 so Rey and Sharon were alone at home. At around 6:15, someone knocked on the door. Sharon saw who it was from the window of her room and ran down immediately. She opened the door to see him smiling at her. "come in." She said. Swayam and Sharon went to her room. Before that, he went to Rey's room and talked with him for a while. Then he went into Sharon's room. Sharon had her books ready so that they could start studying. Both of them sat before the desk and Sharon asked him to take out his French notebook. He took out his notebook from his bag. He opened it and to his dismay he had brought his English notebook instead of French. He got very irritated. Sharon asked him to chill. "It's okay. We'll just watch some videos and all. I have some old videos which I bought when I began learning French. It's very cute. C'mon." Sharon said. She searched for the CD's and then she put one into the DVD player. An alphabet song started playing. Swayam sat next to her on the couch. When the cute dolls and animals came on, Sharon got very excited. "OMG! It's sooo cuteee!!! Don't you think it's cute Swayam?" Sharon asked. Swayam looked bored but inorder to make Shar happy he said "Yea! It is." After sometime, Swayam wasn't even listening. Sharon taught Swayam how to write about himself in French. "Okay, what sentence do you want to write?" Sharon asked. "I listen to music." Swayam said. "Okay. So how do you write I?" Sharon asked. "Je." Swayam said. "Good. Now ecouter is for listen. It's a regular verb so according to the conjugation it's ecoute. Je ecoute. But we cannot use two continuous vowels, we have to write J'ecoute. Do you get it?" Sharon said. Swayam nodded. "So try for I listen to music." Sharon said. "Is it J'ecoute la musique?" Swayam asked, writing it down in his notebook. "Awesome. That's right." Sharon said. Swayam smiled at her. Then he started writing it by himself and Sharon stared at him. She could feel the breeze blowing and their hair flying and everything. Both of them started doing the exercise which they had to do for school. After a while, Swayam got very bored writing and writing and so he got up to check out her novels and all. Below her bookshelf lay her Ipod. Swayam switched it on and he played a fast number and connected the ipod to the speakers. Sharon didn't realize that he was not beside her till the music disturbed her. "C'mon Shar. It's so boring. How do you manage to keep studying?" Swayam asked. "Sway. We have to finish the exercise. There's so much to do. Please come and let's write." Sharon said but Swayam refused to listen to her. He increased the volume and pulled Sharon. He twirled her around and they started dancing to the music. Sharon was a studious girl and hated it when someone disturbed her while doing homework. "Sway! Please. Let me finish my homework. Pleaseee!" Sharon said. "No way! You have to have some fun!" Swayam said. He did some random crazy steps and after sometime Sharon couldn't take it. She screamed "Je t'aime Swayam!" The song ended right at that time. Since Swayam didn't know French that well, he thought she sweared at him or something. "What? What did you say Sharon?" he asked. "Uhā¦.Nothing.." Sharon said, and turned away from him and bit her tongue. She mentally cursed herself for saying it out loud. "What did you say Shar?" Swayam asked. "I just said, 'STOP IT'." Sharon lied.
She then ran out of the room saying she'll be back in a minute. She went down to the kitchen and came back with two bowls of chocolate pudding. Yes! She had made it herself because she didn't want Swayam to be disappointed or anything. When she returned, Swayam was sitting on the couch again. "Here." She said, handing him one bowl. "Thanks. Now I know what you said." Swayam said. "What did I say?" Sharon asked confidently, because she knew that Swayam wouldn't know it. "You said 'I love you Swayam!' Am I right?" Swayam said. How did he know???I never told him this. And it's not in any book too. "I was just joking alright. How did you find out?" Sharon asked with curiousity. Swayam pointed at a poster on the wall. Sharon looked at the poster and she mentally hit herself on the head. She had totally forgotten that she had bought a poster in which I LOVE YOU was written in over 15 languages. And ofcourse French was there. "I didn't mean it. I was justā¦justā¦." Sharon started thinking about what to say, when Swayam stopped her. "I know you didn't mean it. Why are you getting so worried?" Swayam said. Sharon smiled at him, but inside she was disappointed. He doesn't believe that I love him. Why am I sad? I should be happy, shouldn't I? Her thoughts were broken when Swayam screamed "DELICIOUS!" Sharon grinned because she was the one who had made the pudding. "Your mom is the best cook in the whole world." Swayam said. "Umā¦.Sway. I am the one who made the pudding today." Sharon said. "Really? You're just like your mom. So amazing at making this. I could almost kiss you." Swayam said. Then kiss me. Her mind said. They ate their chocolate pudding and they talked for some time. Rey came into her room and called Swayam to play videogames with him. "Okay Shar. I think I'll go and play videogames for sometime and then go home. I had an awesome time. Thanks for tutoring me too." Swayam said. Sharon nodded and waved bye to him. Even though the tutoring part was not much, they had had an amazing time. And that's what mattered.
