Is this also a ritual?

I'm totally confused. I don't know much about north Indian rituals. After seeing today's news segment, I had this doubt. Please feel free to clear my doubt.
Is this a ritual to end every wedding ritual with di(Poojali, rudali)? I don't know but that is what I'm seeing. Roka was ended by giving DAVAI, pampering her( for god's sake she is pregnant and not one who is suffering from life threatening disease to eat that many medicines). Now mehendi may also complete by pampering her again( as she will fell down from stairs)
What the hell is this CVs? Why no ritual or celebration cannot be enjoyed without this dimwit?Is this too much to ask to focus on all the rituals and let limelight be on leads?
