Kidhar Jaana Hai, Aditya asks Vani

Aditya Srivastava, who plays Abhijeet in Sony thriller CID, will be seen as a cop in Dil Se Pooch Kidhar Jaana Hai.

The film, written and directed by Shrirang Dhawale and produced by Suresh Jain, has just completed shooting. Aditya's co-star in the film is Vani Tripathi.

Though Srivastava has featured in several off-beat films, he finds Dil Se Pooch Kidhar Jaana Hai special because of its setting.

"It provides an insight into the life of two individuals who are victims of circumstances," he explains. Tripathi plays the role of a prostitute called Aliya. "The film is the love story of Avinash and Aliya," he adds.

Mumbai riots

"It is not just a police-prostitute story," says Tripathi. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition and the bomb blasts that rocked Mumbai in its aftermath.

The protagonists are simple, middle-class characters, who meet after a decade only to find themselves on different sides of the law.

"It is about how the riots affect them and their lifestyles because of their religions," adds the actress. "When living life the way they want to becomes difficult due to socio-political pressures.

Where have I seen them before?

On television, Srivastava was seen in Ye Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti (Sony), 9 Malabar Hill (Zee), Naya Daur (Zee).

On the big screen, he made his debut in Shekhar Kapoor's Bandit Queen in which he played Phoolan Devi's husband, besides acting in several other films like Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, Satya and Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar.

Srivastava will next be seen in Kanika Varma's Dansh and Hansal Mehta's Raakh.

Tripathi has featured in serials like Ehsaas (Doordarshan), Choti Maa (Zee) and Gaatha (Star Plus).

She made her film debut with Tanuja Chandra's Dushman and was also seen in Phir Bhi Dil Hain Hindustani and Chalte Chalte.

Tripathi is also the cultural head of the BJP in Maharashtra. "We are trying to safeguard the state's traditional folklore from dying," she says. At the moment, Tripathi is not doing any TV because she finds most shows "extremely regressive".
