It was almost midnight. The dark alleys were lit up by the dim light coming from the houses. Most of the city had gone off to sleep. For the rest, the night had only begun. Amidst these dark deserted streets, a lonely shadow was walking alone aimlessly, lost in its own world.
The shadow was a young girl who was trying hard to face the reality. The words still rang in her ears. The family she had considered her own since she had opened her eyes was not hers. The small world she had built up by years of love and care had crumbled into thousands of broken pieces. She had tried to recollect the pieces only to end up hurting herself, even more than she already was. She wanted to go home but the only problem was she didn't have a home...she didn't have a whole place in the world she could call her own. The road in front of her lead to the endless chasms but there was no turning back. She was afraid of stepping into the dark path laid in front of her but she was even more afraid of turning back and facing the harsh reality. She kept on moving aimlessly till raindrops kissed her face. "Rain is good", she thought to herself, "It atleast provides me with a shelter where I can rest my pain." Tears were streaming down her face but they were no longer distinguishable from the raindrops.
Her chain of thoughts was broken by a bright pair of lights. "Purvi...You alright! It has been hours since I had been searching for you."Purvi looked up to face the love of her life. Love of her life...The words seemed to be mocking her. What would he think of her when he will come to know of the truth. Will he love her anymore? Or will he also abandon her like the rest of her family! "Arjun...I...",she tried to say but her words were broken down by her sobs. "You okay Purvi", Arjun sounded worried. He knew something was horribly wrong with her girl but he couldn't get through it. He knew Purvi was a strong girl and she wouldn't be such a break if it wasn't something serious but his mind couldn't provide him with answers. What could have gone so horribly wrong? Their marriage was due in just two days and he couldn't understand why his would-be-bride was wandering along the streets, alone. instead of getting the final preparations done.
What am I going to tell him? Purvi thought to herself. How would he react after knowing the truth? But she had to tell him. She couldn't lead him into a new world without breaking all the walls between then. She was about to get married to the man of her dreams. Everything was going according tothe plans. Then how could have everything turned into such a whirlwind in a moment. "Arjun", Purvi said trying hard to stop her tears."Arjun...I gotta tell you something", Purvi continued look him straight into the eye. The whole story began unfolding in front of her eyes. It was evening and the whole family had gone out shopping. The whole house was decorated with lights and flowers. Orchids had been specially ordered as they were Purvi's favourite. "You must be very happy." The voice made Purvi turn around. "Ovi...You didn't go with the others." Purvi's heart went out to this girl. She had loved Arjun since she had learnt what love was but in a nasty game of destiny, Arjun had been snatched away from her. She felt for her but there was nothing she could do to help her. It was in best interests of Ovi to forget Arjun but there was nothing which would make her realise this.
"What do you think of yourself Purvi? Who gave you the right to snatch away everything from me?" Ovi's voice sounded paranoid, as if she had no clue what was she saying. The words were coming out in a fury of emotions. "Ovi...I..."Purvi tried to explain. "SHUT UP! Just Shut Up!"Ovi screamed. "You took my mother away from me. She left us because of you. My parents are getting divorced because of you! Because of you, we have been deprived of mother's love. Because of you, my father has spent twenty years without his wife. And now because of you, I am going to lose my love, my childhood love, all because of you." "What are you talking about? Aai..." Purvi had had tried to say. "Aai...She is not your aai. You don't belong to us," Ovi had said dealing the final blow. "Aai adopted you. You were the daughter of some vagabond. Your parents were run down in a car accident. And mom, being the so called angel she is, had adopted you. Dad was against this. But when has mom ever listened." Ovi smiled to herself. She was finally taking her sweet revenge. She couldn't let Purvi live the life of her dreams while her own world was getting devastated.
"And as if that was not all. The car which killed your parents belonged to dad. Mom accused him of drinking and driving. That led to the separation. Dad was straightaway freed as there was no solid evidence against him. But that left a permanent dent in their relationship. " SMACK! Ovi turned to look back at the person who had dared to slap her. "Who the heck are you to..." Smack went another. Archana had been shell shocked. She had come back home early as Purvi was alone in the house only to witness the divulging truth. "Aai..."Purvi had looked her with her eye full of questions. She had no clue how to reply to it. "Purvi...Let me explain", Archana had tried to say.
It was then Purvi had felt her whole world crushing down.It couldn't be true. Her aai-baba were going to get divorced because of some misunderstanding. Her baba had left with the twins and she was to stay with her mother. It couldn't be that she wasn't even the part of the family. Aai had tried to tell her something but what could be left there to say! Purvi had no vision of when she had left the house or how she had wandered to the unknown locality. All she knew that she was standing there in front of her life, letting out the biggest truth of her life.
Arjun stood still. He couldn't believe his own ears. He wanted to hold her, console her, say something which would soothe her out of her pain but he didn't know what to say. What could he say to a girl who had just got secluded from her family. And then his eyes met Purvi's. She was looking at him with expectedly. And then, there was emptiness. She had got up from the ground and was preparing to leave.
Purvi felt lonely. The only person whom she could still call her own had also left her. She turned back to leave. She knew she was alone and it was on her to write the next lines of her life on her own. "Purvi", a voice brought her out of her trance. "I loved a girl called Purvi, not someone called Purvi Deshmukh. Purvi... I don't care about anything else as long as we both are together. I didn't promise you of a fairytale but I did promise you of a story where we were always together. You can't go leaving our story incomplete Purvi. We can face every problem together, but only as long we are together." Purvi felt her heart beating faster. He still loved her. He was still ready to marry her. She ran into his arms and hugged him tightly. "I can face evrything Arjun, everything as long as you love me..." Her words were broken midway with another lips touching hers, as if sucking every pain out of her. She felt her lips respond and her hands encircling his neck and his hands tightening around her waist . with every heartbeat saying "Everything is perfect as long as you love me."
