Naksh OS : Till Death Do US Apart.

She screamed and woke up with a jolt. Her eyes were wet and she was shivering. She looked around only to find her Naitik sleeping peacefully. She smiled. She lay on the bed again, this time closer to Naitik. She cuddled up with him, and put a blanket around him.

Yes, she was Akshara. Naitik's lady love. Both seemed as world's cutest couple to their near and dear ones. And they were, indeed. Naitik showered her with all his love and she in return took care of him, his child and his family. To Naitik, Akshara was the perfect woman. She was beautiful, she was competent. She was strong and steady, yet very approachable. She had only one weakness. She loved Naitik a bit too much. She couldn't stand to see Naitik being hurt even the slightest bit. Naitik always told her, "c'mon Akshara, I cannot be with you all the time." Akshara almost used to cry at this sentence. What did Naitik mean? Was he going to leave her in her journey of life midway? No. Akshara would never let him go. She found the very thought of Naitik not being near her very heart wrenching.

As she laid in Naitik's arms after the horrific dream she had, she reminisced about her days with Naitik.

The day she first met him. Not able to meet him, not wanting to meet him. Yet, at the behest of her father, she did, and that changed the course of her life forever. Her marriage, the most special moment of her life, the moment when she became Naitik's forever. The moment, when she realised - it's Naitik always over and above everybody else in her life. She found it hard to believe that out of so many marriage proposals Naitik got, he chose hers. "It was all destiny's play", she thought. "Otherwise, who'd have thought a simple naive girl would get married to Udaipur's most eligible bachelor of their time?"

Mrs. Akshara Naitik Singhania, as the world knew her was a glimpse of the fact that she had been tied to Naitik forever.

She kept herself preoccupied with her thoughts. She did not want to close her eyes because she was afraid the dream would follow her again and she'd lose Naitik there. She tried hard, to not to sleep. But eventually, she did. If only we could have control over certain things in our life.

Next morning, Naitik woke up before Akshara. He opened his eyes and saw a dried teardrop on Akshara's cheek. Within a second, he sensed Akshara had been disturbed last night. "Why did i not wake up?" He cursed himself. Akshara was lying on his right arm the whole night, and Naitik had spasms because of that. But what was troubling him more was the fact that Akshara didn't wake him up to share her anxieties. He wanted to wake Akshara up, talk to her about what happened last night, but he knew Akshara won't tell him. "It must be a bad dream.", Naitik thought. They were celebrating their 3 years of togetherness, and Naitik knew Akshara inside-out by now. He could sense what Akshara was going through, merely by looking at her.

Akshara woke up after a while. Naitik was looking at her lovingly. "Good Morning Love", he said and kissed her on her luscious lips.

"are you fine?"

Akshara nodded hesitantly. Naitik let it be. He knew probing too much into the matter would make Akshara sad, and this was the last thing he wanted to do early in the morning.

"Had a good sleep?", he asked. Akshara remained silent. Naitik changed the topic.

Oh c'mon Akshara, hurry up now, im getting late. Do you want me to get late for the office yet again?

"oh Im so sorry Naitik, i just didn't realise it's too late."

Naitik sensed something was disturbing Akshara. His heart ached to see Akshara like that. He wanted to just sit by her side, talk to her, hug her, tell her he's always there for her, but he couldn't. He was getting late and moreover, he knew Akshara isn't in a position to speak. "Uggghhh, this work!", he sighed.

Akshara helped Naitik get ready and saw him leave for the office. The two love-birds spent the entire day missing each other, craving for each other's arms. It had been 3 years they were together, yet Akshara was on Naitik's mind every moment, and it was just the same, if not more for Akshara.

As the night dawned, and Naitik and Akshara laid on the bed cuddling up with each other, Akshara started off the with normal conversation.

"How was your day Naitik?"

"It was good.", he said nonchalantly.

Akshara all of a sudden raised a question she had been avoiding for past one month.

"why did you hide it from me Naitik?" she asked.

"what?"

"you know it Naitik."

The moment of truth arrived, and Naitik realised it the hard way. He knew the time has come, when he has to reveal it all to Akshara. Not able to look into her eyes, he said, "everything will be fine Akshara. We'll stay together till death do us apart."

"I know that Naitik." She gathered courage to speak. Her throat was choked due to tears in her eyes.

"Oh Akshara, Don't cry. things will be fine soon."

"They'll have to be Naitik. Nothing will happen to you i know. Im just disturbed about the thing that you didn't trust me enough to tell about all this to me."

"It's not like that Akshara."

"It is like that Naitik." and she cried like a child. Her tears refused to cease, and Naitik cried too.

He remembered the day he went to doctor due to dizzyness. "Cancer it is." the doctor claimed. Naitik was shocked.

"Don't worry, Mr. Singhania. You'll be fine. It's in the first stage only. We are positive of your recovery."

Words didn't come out of Naitik's mouth. He was too dumbstruck to digest what the doctor had said just now.

How did it happen? Why did it happen? Why only him? He wondered. How will he tell Akshara and rest of the family members? The first time, he felt there was nothing left to his life. He longed for Akshara. He longed for his son. That moment when you feel someone has pressed the 'stop' button of your life. But then, he gathered himself. He knew, sitting and crying over it would be of no use. His pillar of strength, Akshara crossed his mind, and he knew - he had to fight. he had to fight for his Akshara. For his son. For his entire family. He underwent chemotherapy sessions every alternate day, without letting anybody know.

It was difficult for him to hide this from Akshara. At times he wondered, didn't Akshara know him enough to feel his pain? How could she be so indifferent to his sufferings? But then, he kept these horrible thoughts at bay. He cursed himself for even thinking such a thing. He hid his worries at his own will.

"im sorry, Akshara", he'd say and continue with his work.

It was just the same for Akshara. She knew something had been troubling Naitik all this while, and she wanted to ask him about it, but then she chose to ignore it, for she knew Naitik would always let her know. It was only the last month that she found doctor's report in Naitik's drawer and she realised world is not what meets the eye. Akshara was shocked. Yet, she didn't say Naitik anything. She knew, Naitik is keeping all his pain to keep her tension-free. Little did Naitik realise, what he was doing to keep her happy, made her depressed all the more. Sheer paradox.

Every night, she dreamt of Naitik going away from her, and every night, she'd just lay by Naitik consoling herself, that everything will be fine. Everything 'will' have to be fine. Just last night her tears, and her fear overcame her. The mere fear of losing Naitik sent shivers down her spine.

"When you think your love is the only weakness in your life, you become the strongest person in the world. Unknown to many, you're the weakest person infact. Life is the biggest irony, oh yeah."

They both put forth their inhibitions, and cried in each other's arms after this confrontation. It was amazing that they lived for each-other all this while. They wanted each other to remain oblivious to all the pain they were going through, unknown to them that their pain was already being shared. May be that's the beauty of this relation. Two bodies, one soul.

"I love you. I won't ever leave you."

"I know that better than you, Naitik. And I love you too." And they both slept in each other's arms.
