Madhubala: Its about commitment to her father & Rishabh.
Hey there,
First things first. I loved the way the whole Maddy-Paddy-Rishabh-Romaa sequence at the hospital was handled. No melodrama , no useless repeated panning of the camera , minimal dialogues , drama treated with subtle shock and light humour but nevertheless, delivering what was required of the scene.
Paddy and Roma didn't break into melodramatic bottles of glycerin and overbearing trumpets of ' Kyun, kyun, kyun?' They saw Maddy walk in like a doll bride ' horrified, shocked but played totally on expressions as their eyes goggled at the sight of Maddy with a clear "What the'. " ( Sorry Arnav baby). They simply wanted to know what happened? The writer makes the right entry for Rishabh saving you all the dukhee background scores , glycerin ki buckets . Rishabh , a far cry from his menacing and villainous approach yesterday , turns into an adorable brat who conveys the truth to Paddy and Roma without being crude, disrespectful or shamelessly coloured in language like he was yesterday. He was more on the soft side today ' kinder , nicer but yet vintage Rishabh Kundra.
Interestingly , in this scene , Maddy stays a delicate frozen doll and what makes the scene watchable are the dynamics between Rishabh and his darling' saasumaa' Paddy. The way he , still tottering on alcohol's impact , explains to her like a child in Standard 2 reciting to his teacher ' that him and Maddy are married now , oops, in a business deal over a cheque of 40 lacs ' that he is the 'trust' who funded Maalik's operation and gave his life back to him ' that he is confused about who his real father-in-law is ' and that he demands her blessings ' well, the whole weaving of dialogues and expressions between Rishabh and Paddy is actually really awesome writing supported by above average acting.
Infact, Rishabh and Paddy's dynamic is adorable in a way if you forget the crappy crap he has done to her and how Paddy thinks that Rishabh is a jungle hound out of his kennel. Yes, Rishabh is a khacchar as far as his language and -1 manners are concerned. Still, he gives you hope when he bends down to ask for Paddy's blessings , behaves like a bratty child that he is still at her feet , why is she not blessing him? Of course, Paddy detests him but she appears more like ' " Ye so called damaad cheez kya hai?" She is still trying to hit herself with the reality of Maddy's marriage to this sankee kutta and on top of that Rishabh's antics.
Anyway, keeping Rishabh aside, its Maddy who stands out today for me for many reasons. One, she is not all that dolly-dolly to Rishabh's jungle raaj. If she has to assert herself , she can and Rishabh can even surrender. Knowing how cranky and stubborn he is , I had never thought he will let Maddy meet Maalik. But when Maddy doesn't move while Rishabh tries to take her away and simply says that 'one minute' ' I need to meet Maalik, Rishabh didn't protest or assert that she is his property. He let her go and see him and he gave 2 minutes in response to her 1 minute. Maddy can handle him if she wants and that definitely means ' no tears'. Tackle him without letting him know.
Two, when Maddy touched an unconscious Maalik and called him 'Papa' ' put her heart out and told him that it was her commitment to him that she will save him and she did. Even if it meant selling her life to a cranky bulldog, she did it. In the name of her father , for the sake of her father, a daughter sacrificed herself to a life of uncertainty with a man who is more of a disaster management project. Immense respect for her for calling Maalik her 'Papa'. He deserved to be called that for 22 years and finally it happened.
Three, Maddy confessing to her father that even though she has helplessly given in to this new life , she is not without hope for it. She wants to make it work , and now, I have second thoughts about her being indifferent to Rishabh and this marriage as we would like to believe. Of course, Drashti Dhami said it in her interview that this marriage is not even legal or acceptable . But the character's approach to the same counters it. Maddy sought Maalik's blessings by touching his feet for this new life. Again, it gets reinstated that if Rishabh is a man of his word , Maddy is a woman of commitment.
I really liked today's episode ' Maddy showing a flicker of hope that maybe , just maybe , she can change Rishabh. Maddy calling Maalik her father for the first time and life returning to him. Rishabh letting Maddy meet Maalik and not treating her like a thing for 2 minutes. Rishabh seeking Paddy's blessings stubbornly even though she refuses to relent. Paddy standing up for her daughter. Above all, no slaps, no melodrama and no ear shattering background score.
However , the points that were adorable and telling in a way were :
1. Rishabh calling Maddy ' biwi' all the time. He hardly called her 'Madhu' today. If someone has not seen this show , they can easily mistake him as a loving pampering husband who is 12 tequila shots down and is falling all over his wife. For a change , I didn't see any bitterness in him today. At least , he said that him and his 'biwi' are married.
2. Maddy got to order Rishabh around for once aur sankee kutte ne sun bhi li aur maan bhi li uski baat.
3. Rishabh , in the precap, forcing Paddy to bless Maddy with ' Akhand saubhagywati bhava' blessing. It means a woman of divine luck who will live a life of eternal happiness and whose destiny will always protect her and her husband. He also took his darling saasumaa's hand and forced her to bless him with 'Chirinjeevi bhava'. It means a human being who will live a long healthy life and will always be protected.
P.S- Rishabh and Paddy have quite a tamarind chemistry. I love their equation , totally. Rishabh was being an adorable brat with her , calling her 'saasuma' to the point of being ridiculously funny. Aur zidd bhi aisii ki jab aashirwaad nahiin milaa, to haath pakad ke niklwaa liyaa. What I liked was that he didn't misbehave with Paddy and tried to touch her feet without the previous pretence.
Love and luck always to all,❤️
GOD bless everyone. 🤗
