As much as this aspect of the hindu wedding ceremony has been stressed on by the cvs...the pheras have been made an essential part of the ritual...not denying that in most castes the wedding is considered incomplete without it...but just wanted to point out something...

The saat pheras...or the seven circles around the holy fire...signify..promises...the promises that the husband gives to his wife..and the wife makes to her husband in front of the society...promises like...i will always protect you..provide for you..take care of you...follow and fulfill all the norms of life and society with u by my side...i will stay faithful..manage your house and household...love and respect you and your family members...etc.in essence promises for seven births...

I have been thinking about this for the past couple of days...please dont think i m committing some blasphemy here...or want to be irreverant to the beautiful wedding ceremony..i have tied the knot too with the saat pheras😊...but isn't the maang bharna with sindoor and the mangalsutra and the kanyadaan considered the most essential part of the wedding...once that is done...the seven promises follow later...

my question...if the promises are not made for some reason...the marriage should not be considered void..or should it...even if a couple does not make those seven promises...but with maang bharna and sindoor...the wedding holds true...the basic ceremony means the man and woman now belong to each other..and aren't those promises already implied if not openly said...if they dont want to exchange promises...are they so important that the marriage will not be justified??.

yes...by tradition this wedding might be considered incomplete...but by logic..is it?? Just wanted to know your views regarding the same...

Once again please note...i have no intentions of hurting anyone's feelings...if have done so unintentionally..i apologize in advance...

I respect all the rituals related to the Hindi wedding ceremony myself, but keeping aside the show and the issues raised here, a marriage done in any form, whether in court, or with pheras or completing some ritual that signifies marriage is complete in my opinion. A marriage needs the couple to love and respect each other, if that is existent then marriage in any form is valid.

BTW you've been away from the forum from sometime now :( I haven't seen your topics in while, hope all is good <3

hi..yes...i have been gone...coz whatever i want or feel like saying already has been done to death on the forum...so just come and read and watch the battles from the sidelines...😆 and save my skin..😃

I feel the same way..yes i love all the rituals and honor and respect them...but at the end of it all...its not the rituals that tie two ppl in an everlasting bond...its the love that matters...

Hey don't do that, people like me wait for the positive and optimistic views from you, someone who talks from every characters point of view, so please do make topics and share your views because there are many like us, who don't want to be part of any 'battle' 😆

I agree, no matter what rituals you perform, if the love and trust factor is lacking in an relation, no ritual can save the marriage from crumbling down.

After all its not the ritual that makes a marriage..its the two ppl involved that keeps it going...the wedding is for the society...the love for the couple...
