Unmet expectations lead to disappointment and regrets of what could have been.
Disclaimer: It is not my intention to spread negativity or bash any actor; this is my observation and analysis of the story so far.
Finally the secret of Rajni's past is out! It was much as expected from the recent news and predictions on the forum, that is, surrogacy by mistake. The CVs did salvage the story to some extent after driving us nuts for two weeks or so, though there are still a lot of loopholes and inconsistencies, some of which are probably due to the deviation from the original plot.
When I first saw the promos, I was interested. The only other show I was following avidly was BV on Colors with an interest in NBT which was off and on. I did not know Gaurav was going to be the male lead in BHBK at that time, but that revelation decided it for me; I gave up BV at 8 pm to watch BHBK and watched BV on a repeat telecast. 😳
The promos were refreshing and the Phir Kyun led to a lot of fun and humor on the forum. The story when it started was good, but TRPs played their part in making the CVs change the plot too soon. That is my first regret ' that the plot was changed. From what was shown, I had expected incompatibility in marriage was going to be the reason for BHBK, Poulomi would definitely have a part in the story that followed, and it would be a different kind of concept. I have no confirmation that this was going to be the storyline, but I hoped for it and why show the Poulomi at the beginning if she wasn't going to be used later? There were no negative characters, the CVs assured us, and so this storyline seemed to fit best! 😊
Instead, we got a completely different storyline for which certain characters underwent drastic changes overnight. Rajni, who looked like she could not say boo to a goose, overnight changed into a nosey parker female who butted her head into everyone else's business. She hardly behaved like a new bride, that too a bride who has entered a totally different kind of setup from her maika. She took decisions on her own, challenged the family when the factory strike happened, and got on everyone's nerves. It was very disappointing and I nearly gave up on the show.
Then the Aryan story started and we came to the actual Phir Kyun! The surrogacy track was a little difficult to believe because for one thing, Rajni hardly looked like the mother of a 6-year-old (Aryan looks that to me) and second, how could such a self-righteous person like Rajni not tell about this to Krish before marriage? These questions still remain, though CVs have tried to show that Rajni was under the impression her mother had told all, but still, how come it never came up between Rajni and Krish even once after marriage? They had these sessions when they would tell each other some truth about themselves...how come this was never a topic? Also, why did Rajni lie so much...she could have told who Aryan was the first time if she thought her in-laws knew about her past. 😡
There are a lot of medical bloopers around the surrogacy track. They have shown it was an illegal scam in the hospital, but don't the parents meet the surrogate mother before it is done? Will they accept any woman as a surrogate mother? Also, if done without consent, the woman could always abort the baby, so what surety it would work? Would all those poor girls accept their fate in return for money? It is a tad unbelievable, but maybe this was the best scenario under the circumstances! 🤔
All in all, the expectations set by the initial promos were not met. Those promos don't make any sense in the current scenario...and my biggest regret remains that the CVs changed the story line so much! 😭
Rajni's characterization is disappointing. She is the female lead, yet the most inconsistent character in the show. I hope that future episodes redeem her character; the CVs succeeded to some extent with her confession but there is a long way to go. Also, I feel the acting is rather bland; perhaps because this was not the role she auditioned for, but I find something lacking in her portrayal. 😔
Krish's character also disappointed at the time he was being so patient with Rajni; it was just not natural. The hyped up factory workers story was to show why Krish was being patient later, but it did not convince me, and I was really glad when he finally lost his temper! 😃 😆
Now that the secret is finally out, I hope that the CVs will show the aftermath convincingly. I hope we see some introspection on Krish's behalf before he accepts Rajni with her past. It would be so disappointing if they show tomorrow the entire Vaishnav parivaar falling on Rajni's neck and making her mahaan. After all, she and her parents are guilty of hiding the truth, and some anguish on Krish's part would be expected. 😒
This brings me to the point that the actual reason for BHBK is still not revealed. I assume that Rajni and her concern for Aryan will make the Vaishnavs decide to marry her off to Yash. Rajni has behaved irrationally so far and may continue to do so if she is forgiven and accepted and be more Aryan's mom than Krish's wife or Vaishnav bahu and that I assume could be the reason for BHBK. At the same time, could it be so simple? I wonder what twists the CVs have for us in the future. 😕
If the above speculation is true, there is still a chance for a happy ending. It is possible that Rajni might get a jolt when she realizes what her in-laws have in mind for her'..it just might shock her into her right senses and she could turn over a new leaf, but while I would prefer this kind of ending, I am not sure that TV shows work this way! Yash and Aryan could go away and leave Rajjo to pick up the pieces and build up her relationship again with Krish! 😉
Last but not the least, I enjoy the YashRaj scenes, Namita and her pranks, and to a certain extent Veena with her in your face speeches and Baa with her chocolates! These keep me sane while the melodrama makes me want to tear my hair out! 😃
Please discuss and dissect and post your thoughts. 😛
