'After all this time, I still find Miilee stimulating'

So says Mona Vasu, who almost didn't take up the role. Now all that's changed. But guess what? Her next stop is Bollywood!

You are now an old hand at playing the role of Miilee in the serial of the same name, how does it feel?
I have a contract with Star Plus till March next year. In fact, when the role was initially offered to me, I had refused it flatly because at that time I was doing only commercials and was more keen on entering Bollywood and not television. But now, after all this time, I still find the role stimulating.
What's best about the role?
Because it is a multifaceted role, Miilee's emotions range fromsadness
to happiness to being a teenager who is sometimes rebellious and at other times, all heart. It is not just a sindoor and glycerine role and therefore very interesting.
What do you think of your television
career?
It's a great opportunity — it is one field that has really opened up. But still, not the one I choose to follow. I have decided not to do any other tele serial, but concentrate on Bollywood.
What kind of roles are you looking at in Bollywood?
I need to identify with the concept and script. I am okay with any kind of roles. Crossover cinema or commercial — I am game.
And what about doing item numbers, an occasional kissing scene and skin show?
I don't mind any of the above if it's done aesthetically and if there's really a need for such a scene in moving the plot or theme of the film ahead. But I object to just do it so that the movie sells.
