Rano had red eyes. Rajji was sitting next to her, not knowing what to do next. Maan and Geet told Archana what had happened.
"Didi, aap?" Rano stood up. Geet had told her she wanted to go to Maan but she had no idea they would turn up on their door step. There was a minute silence after which Maan said:
"Maa, aap Rano maa se baat karo, main aur Geet abhi aate hain. (Mom, talk to Rano mom. Geet and I will come back in a few minutes.)" Maan even told Rajji to join them. They headed for Beryy's.
"Geet, Rajji, Mr Khurana." Ron welcomed them and showed them to his office.
"Well Mr Beryy, you can think why we came?" Maan started. Geet and Rajji were holding hands, not knowing what to do or say.
"Yes I do. Let me tell you that I really meant what I said. I have liked Rano from the first time I have seen her and Geet has always been like a daughter to me. I have no bad intentions for either of them."
"What makes you propose her? I mean…" Maan started.
"At this age, right? I was married once, many years ago but I couldn't have any children. My wife thought she might be better off with someone else and I never stopped her. I could understand her very well. Even I craved to have children once but alas…" Rajji and Geet had a small talk while Maan was talking to Ron.
"Kya app humari mamma se pyaar karte hain? (Do you love our mamma?)" Geet asked hesitantly. Ron nodded.
"I promise to keep her happy. I am not expecting anything from her. She can still live her live as she wishes." Rajji and Geet held their hands tightly and said to Maan:
"We don't mind if mamma is ok with it." Maan looked at them. He actually expected them to disagree.
"Can I ask why you agree?"
"Papaji died many years ago and we know how lonely she is since then. We love her very much and with Geet didi getting married to you and one day I will leave, too, she will be all alone. We don't want that." Maan was in awe but tried not to show it to them.
"Well, if they agree I am no one to say no. All I want is for Rano maa to be happy."
"Don't worry, I will keep her happy. That is a promise."
"Toh kya socha hain Rano? (So what have you thought about it Rano?)" Archana asked Rano. For her Rano was like a younger sister now. She knew how it was to live alone. At least she had Dadi and two sons but Rano had two daughters who would get married and she would be alone. This situation might be awkward as now soon her own daughter was to get married and here she was being proposed.
"Pata nahin didi. Log kya sochenge? Geet aur Rajji ka kya? Aur Maan? Abhi beti ki shaadi horahi hain aur main… (I don't know. What will people think? And what about Geet and Rajji? And Maan? Right now my daughter is to marry and here I…)"
"Rano, itna mat soch. Main bhi bina pati ke bohut saal rahin hu. Mere paas to Maan aur Vicky dono hain lekin ek din tumhare paas koi nahin rahega. Abhi Geet ki shaadi horahi hain aur kuch saal mein Rajji ki bhi hojaegi. Accha yeh bata, tuje woh accha lagta hain? (Don't think so much Rano. Evne I have live alone for many year. I have Maan and Vicky but you will one day have noone with you anymore. Now Geet will mrry and some years later Rajji will also marry. Ok, tell me. Do you like him?)" Rano's blush gave her the answer. The others returned.
"Mamma, kya socha hain? (So what did you decide?)" Rajji asked. Rano shook her head.
"Ek baar soch lo mamma, woh bohut acche hain aur aap ko khush bhi rakhenge. (Think about it Mamma, he is really nice and will always keep you happy.)" Geet and Rajji tried to convince Rano.
"Rano maa, you don't have to think about anyone. Geet, Rajji, maa and I am sure even Dadi will support you. He will keep you happy and even Rajji and Geet will have someone like a father again."
"Theek hain. (Ok then.)" Everyone was happy apart from Geet.
"Yeh kya? Maine bola to kuch nahin aur Maan ne kaha to aap maan gae? (What is this? When I said then nothing and when Maan said you listened to him.)" she pouted. Maan pulled her cheek and gave Rano a side hug.
"Akhir Maan Singh Khurana jo hu. Koi meri baat kaise taal sakta hain? (After all I am MSK. Who can denie me?)"
"Dusht Daanav" Geet muttered.
Dadi received the news with joy. For her Rano was like Archana and has seen her daughter-in-law living alone at a young age, she knew how she felt. Rajji had called Vicky to tell him about the news.
R: Vicky, kya tum ne suna? (Did you hear the news?)
V: Kya? (What?)
R: Mall mein Beryy's haina? Uske maalik ne meri mom ko propose kiya. (You know the owner of Beryy's in the mall? He proposed to my mom.)
V: KYA? (WHAT?)
R: Haan aur mamma ne haa keh di. Ab wo dono Geet didi ki sagae se pehle hi shaadi karenge. Matlab teen din mein. (Hmm and my mom accepted. They will get married before Geet's engagement that is in three days.)
V: KYA? (WHAT?)
R: Yeh kya kya kya laga rakha hain? Kuch sahin se to bolo. (Why are you stuck at WHAT? Say something else.)
V: Tumne aisi khabar di hain to main 'kya' ke ilawa aur bob hi kya sakta hu. Accha choro us baat ko. Tum abhi kya karrahi ho? (You are giving me such news that I can only say WHAT. Ok, leave that. What are you doing right now?)
R: Didi ki sagae ke liye nae kapde bana rahi hu. In fact tumhari hi sherwani hain. Aur tum? (I am stiching the clothes for the engagement. Infact, I am doing your sherwani. And you?)
V: Aur kya? Tumhare bare mein sapna dekh raha tha. (What else? I am dreaming about you.)
Rajji blushed.
R: Tumhe aur koi kaam nahin hain kya? (Don't you have anything else to do?)
V: Hain na. Meri teacher to mujhe roz haat pe marti hain kyun ki main class mein soota hu. Ab itne din kaam nahin kiya issi liye pile up hogaya. (I have. My teacher hits me every days on my hands because I sleep in class. Now so much work is piled up.)
R: To karro abhi, warna mera bahana niklega…(Then work otehrwise I will be blamed…)
Rajji hung up and Vicky went to finish off his work with a sad face.
Rano and Ron's wedding was held in a small wedding with only the Khurana's and Handa's present. From Mr Beryy's side there was no one. It didn't bother him he told them since now he was going to have a wife and two wonderful daughters.
"Accha hain Rano, tumhari saas nahin hain. Matlab ghar ki rani tum. (It is good you don't have a mother-in-law. This way you will be the queen of the house.)" Dadi slightly pulled Archana's ear but all three ladies burst into laughter. Ron had asked Rano if she wished to move in with him since his house was his own and slightly bigger than theirs. This was not exactly true as his house was a huge bungalow. Rajji and Geet loved it their and hence Rano decided to shift in. The shifting didn't take very long as they didn't have much to start with.
