I had very high hopes from this show but alas, as things stand today, its very difficult to watch the show despite a good story line, talented actors and all the supposed right ingredients. Was just thinking whats gone wrong...
1) the makers and the channel lost the 1st 2 weeks advantage they had gained by presenting a truly hatke and fresh show on such a grand canvass! The resultant trps of 2.8 /2.6 bore testimony to the fact. The sets were fab, the actors great and the pace fast and furious! But post MBs birth, the show slowed down dramatically and lost its lustre. The sets became very ordinary ( cant distinguish b/w PV and MB sets) and the focus extremely humdrum...in their quest to show how simple and ordinary MB's life is, they made the show very ordinary. They needed to intersperse the show with some dramatic moments and some hooks/references they could relate to /reference going forward but they did none of these...
2) then when the girls grew up, the grand scale shrunk even further! the sets became even more tacky, the make up loud and the camerwork and lighting pathetic!! Drashti, who has the ability to light up a screen singlehandedly and hold a camera completely on her own, looked dull and pasty! The camera failed to capture her eyes, her biggest asset and one she puts to best use, that combined with her awful hairstyle and those ill fitting clothes made her look washed out!
3) Then they teamed her up with a below average actor ( mukund) who unfortunately though maybe competent has zero chemistry with any actor on screen. Add to this a screeching, wailing aayee ( the lady i am sorry to say plays just herself in ALL roles-loud, OTT and crass) and a banshee like trishna and i just stopped watching the show! Am sure a lot others did so too , if the falling trps are any indication
4) i understand Vivian is doing a very good job as Rk but hey, to get him to deliver now, 2 months into the show is just plain stupidity coz by now, the audiences have moved on to greener pastures. Somehwere i feel the makers were a bit arrogant to think they would be able to hold on viewers interest for so long until the actual story unfolded . They might have done so had they regularly given us RK -MB doses, or something to keep us hooked but alas, there was v little anticipation built up, bad promos and poor promotion
5) which brings me to another question. Why has Colors stopped promoting MB off late? After the initial HUGE PR, we see very little promotion these days primarily coz they are busy promoting JDJ. Understand they have paid shit loads of money to everyone in JDJ, but that shudnt stop them from promoting their regular shows.
I hope someone either in the channel, PH or creative team of MBEIEJ reads the feedback surfacing on this forum...we all would like the show to succeed as its truly a hatke show but at the end of the day, some tricks of trade need to be used to get in viewers and trps...quick fixes like a good DOP , make up man, focus on leads etc are sooo doable. Hope they pay some heed.
