Helena joins Harry Potter cast
Helena Bonham Carter is the latest big name British star to join the Harry Potter film franchise. Following roles for the likes of Ralph Fiennes, Maggie Smith, John Cleese and Gary Oldman, the Oscar nominated actress of 'The Wings Of The Dove' is to appear in the latest instalment of the series. Carter, most recently seen in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is to play Bellatrix Lestrange in the fifth Potter film, 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Her character is Sirius Black's cousin and, as a Death Eater, a follower of the evil Lord Voldemort. Bonham Carter — who has appeared in a string of films for her partner, director Tim Burton — isn't the only new character to appear in the movie due for a 2007 release. Imelda Staunton takes the role of Dolores Umbridge; George Harris is to portray Kingsley Shacklebolt; Natalia Tena fills the role of Nymphadora Tonks; Kathryn Hunter appears as Mrs. Figg; and 14-year-old Evanna Lynch takes on Luna Lovegood. These actors join the returning cast that includes Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger). Also reprising their roles are the likes of Robbie Coltrane, Alan Rickman, Brendan Gleeson, Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Oldman, Jason Isaacs, Smith, Julie Walters, Emma Thompson, Fiona Shaw, David Thewlis and Richard Griffiths.

Taking over the director's chair from Mike Newell is Britain's David Yates, who has directed 'The Girl in the Caf', 'State of Play' and 'Sex Traffic'. The screenplay is by Michael Goldenberg, who wrote the script for the Jodie Foster film 'Contact'.
