Part 7
Every time Radhika and Dev would see each other they would say hey to each other . She would be sitting on the chariot counting her money or eating a banana and when she would see him she would jump of the chariot and smile ! They both seemed to understand each other well and her cute comments would make him laugh .They would eat fruits together in the river bank and just talk sometimes would do pranks together.
One evening
Radhika was counting her money chewing her gum excitedly . Dev snatched the money from her
"AIYE!!! Mere paise wapas de muhje!"She ordered sternly
(Hey ! Give me back my money!)
"no "..He said raising his hand higher so she couldn't grab it ..
"Abeh Badmashh!!!" She brushed her finger under her nose arching her brows angrily .She started jumping to get her money back but he just moved his hand away each time. He enjoyed teasing her like this and liked to see her cute grumpy expressions ..She put her hand on his shoulder for support and jumped as high as she could ..Dev just laughed
"…wait let me just see how much you got ..." HE said playfully
She stopped jumping and Dev started counting
"wow! How many people did you steal from today .."HE asked being impressed
"Maine kaha de muhje!!" She said trying to reach for her money again
(I said give it back!)
Dev always liked to do this together and in the end would give back her money and she would start counting again chewing her gum .
Another day Dev came back from the mutt and was looking for Radhika he stood under a mango tree and felt a fruit hit his head. .He looked up only to see Radhika leaning over a big branch with her cute mischievous smile
"Radhika! What the hell are you doing up there like a monkey !!"HE asked baffled
"Abeh deka nahi dera ..main aam nikal rahi hoon .."( Cant you see I'm picking some mangoes!)She said plucking out another mango ..
"le Pakar!" (Here catch!) She said shouting it down at him and he caught it ..He chuckled unbelievably seeing her climbing trees like this
"RAdhika come down now ….You might get hurt .."He said worriedly
Radhika chewed on her gum waveringly and listened to him and climbed down like a obedient girl .She didn't know why she was listening to him but she was !

Radhika swung over the branch and jumped off
"Mere aam kahan hain?"She demanded
(Where are my mangoes!)
Dev was about to say something when they heard a man ..
"Dev babu aap yahan ?…"(dev ? You here?)
RAdhika quickly hid behind Dev chewing her gum little nervously .Dev just put his hand behind holding the mangoes.
"KAise hain aap Rampalji ?" (How are you Mister Rampal?) Dev asked casually remembering he got introduced to him by dadima
"hum theek hain …hum bas dekne aye agar who Radhika yahan toh nahi hai ..hamesha mera aam chori karthi hai ."(Im fine ..Im just looking if Radhika is here , she always steals my mangoes ) HE said looking at his mango tree annoyingly ..
Dev chuckled lightly seeing Radhika Michief behaviour..
"Haan ..kaafi badmash ladki hai ."Dev said playfully
(Ya , she is quite mischievous ..)
Radhika bit her lower lips with her back against Dev and hit him with her elbow telling him to stop !
"Acha …aab main chalta hoon ..phir milthe hain ."Dev said smiling
(Ok ..Il be going now , see you later.)
"Acha theek hai" (YEs of course) ..Rampalji said and looked at his mango tree ..Radhika and Dev quickly escaped before the man turned back …
Radhika and Dev came to the valley panting , he saw her smiling jubilantly and took the mangoes from his hand and sat down ..She took out her knife and cut few pieces …
"Abeh ..lena !"(Here take some) She offered "Aaj tunhe bachaliya ..warna us bude se phirse daant milti muhje .." (Today you saved me from getting scold again by that old man) She said shaking her head annoyed and took a bite of her mango
"mmm bohut mite hain …"(mmm..There very sweet )She said affirmed cutely telling him to take some
'Radhika … don't do this again ..I might not be there for you next time and don't want you to be in trouble .."He said calmly
"kyun beh! Muhje koi pareshani nahi hoti ."She said smirking
(Why! I don't get scared )
"but still you should ask him Politely if you could have some ..I'm sure he would let you .."Dev said assuring
Radhika pursed her lips grimly "Dek muhje tumse koi dayan nahi cheye tumse ! Samja .."
(look I don't want any lectures from you ..understand!)
"Im not lecturing you jus telling you to be polite to Rampal ji ..what you give is what you get in return "He said
"Acha theek hai! ..agli bar poushoungi..ab khush! "
(Ok fine! Next time I'll ask ! Happy now?)
"Very much! " Dev gave out a charming smile
" Abeh! kya main yeh sab aam akele khaougi kya!" she asked
(Am I going to eat this all by myself?)
Dev grinned boyishly and took some" yumm ..this is very sweet .."
Radhika nodded agreeing ..
Both Radhika and Dev started hanging around with each other almost every something funny happened between them two . She would take him to eat Gol Gappe or kulfi and have little competition who could eat the most but Dev always win and this only frustrated Radhika him seeing him giving her a jubilant smile
One afternoon Radhika was forced to bring water from the river bank and was walking with her matka .
Suddenly her matka cracked due to someone shouting a pebble on it ..Her jaws dropped feeling her cloths all wet and took out her knife
"AIYE!!! Koun hai beh?"(HEY!! Who's there?) She asked loudly looking around the tree , she then heard Dev laughing and looked up on the tree branch seeing him holding a slingshot .
"Tum!!! Tuh wahan upar badar jaisa kya kara hai !"(You ! what are you doing up there like a monkey )She asked putting her hand on her flank copying his words
"Im copying you!" HE answered playfully ..
Radhika found his slingshot to be very fun and quickly climbed up to join him
Dev was just sitting as she came next to him
"Abeh dika na!" (Show me ) She asked about to snatch it from him
Dev moved it away "First ask nicely .."
Radhika chewed on her gum and took a annoying sigh "Kya main deksaki hoon .."She said sweetly
Dev grinned boyishly "whats the magic word?"
"Please…" She said emphazing
"Sure.."He said giving it to her
Radhika's eyes twinkled and her smile grew excitedly and quickly took it from .Dev just shook his head yet had a smile on his face ..Radhika took baby apples from the tree and started sling shooting .She had her tongue stinking out cutely with one eyes close to have a perfect aim . Dev just watched on , he didn't know why was he getting so attracted to her ..
"US bude ko dekra hai .."(See that man) She said pointing at a man with a briefcase
"HAan .."(Yes )
"bohut kanjoos hai !"(Very selfish man! ) She said sternly "Abhi use sabak sikati hoon "(I'll teach him a lesson ) She took the sling shot and hit the man with a tiny apple from the tree .
The man looked around wondering where this was coming from ? Dev imitated a voice of a tiger and Radhika eyes widened up surprised yet amused! The man started panicking and ran away …
This only made Radhika and Dev laugh so much sitting on the tree branch …They didn't even realize how the time flew by having fun together …It was a different experience for both Radhika and Dev …
She never had someone being with her while she pranked around but she enjoyed it. No one very played along with her like this except for him . HE was nothing as what she expected from him.
.Its been a long time since Dev did have fun like this , she really was someone special for him .usually the girls he dated barely knew how to have fun all they did was talk about there ex boyfriend or there own personal problems. But with Radhika it was different ,Her laugh always bought a smile on his face and made him have a good time , this somehow beamed his heart.
Not one day passed when Radhika and Dev didn't meet each other on th muddy lanes or near the temples or river banks . It was a daily routine for them to see each other .
One day Radhika was walking pass a clothing store , she saw a white shirt for men …She recalled the day when she was riding the rickshaw and splashes of mud went on his white shirt ..She pursed her lips feeling bad , she took out her money and bought the shirt ..
She rang the door bell to Dadima's bhavan ..She fixed her duppata little nervously and chewed on her gum anxiously..Dadima opened the door..
Aree Radhika aona .."
(Radhika come in!)
Radhika smiled brushing her finger under her nose and chewing on her gum ….
"Kaisi ho ??" Dadima asked..
(How are you ?)
Radhika nodded her head sideway ."Theek …….aur app ?" She asked politely ..
(im fine and yourself?)
"Bhilkul theek ..Muhje pata chalgaya ..ke tum aur Dev ne ek duhje se maafi mangli …Who bohut khush hogaya jab tumne use maaf kiya ..Use bohut bura laga ke usne tumhare saath aisa bartav kiya ..…Lekin muhje bouhut acha lagra hai ke tum wapas ari ho humse milne ."She said gratefully..
(Im fine ..I found out that you and Dev apologized to each other ..He was very happy that you forgave him , he was feeling very bad for what he did …Im just glad that your still coming to see us ..)
Radhika smiled hearing this, she said that she wont ever come back but know things were different with him and nothing was going to stop her for coming to see him .
."Kya Dev ghar par hai?" She asked wondering her gaze around…
(Is Dev home ?)
"Haan uske kamre main hoga …Yeh kya hai?" Daima asked seeing her bag ..
(Yes..he must be in his room …whats this?)
"Woh Dev keliye "..She said little waveringly
(Its ..for Dev..)
Dadima smiled sweetly and told her it was the room down the hall..Radhika was chewing on her gum walking upstairs…She saw Dev's room door opened and walked in excited like a little girl anxious to see his reaction ..Dev was looking at some of his book and beamed a boyish smile seeing Radhika.
"hey!! Tum yahan?" He asked coming closer..
(Hey ? What are you doing here?)
"Haan ..who …main …"(I ..ummm) she didn't know how to give him something it was the first time she was doing this to someone "Yeh le!"(Take this..) She said handing a bag ..
"yeh kya?" Dev asked
(What is it?)
"Kyun beh …kul ke dekle !"(see for yourself) she said wondering her gaze around his room chewing her gum ..It was very big , there was couch towards the front with his bed further down with few of his pictures hanged on the wall..
Dev opened the bag and saw a white shirt ,and felt so touched by this ..He recalled his other shirt got mud on it because of her ..but she bought him another one ..Dev eyes became tender on her ..
"Thank you Radhika ..lekin is ki koi zaroorath nahi thi .."
(Thank you Radhika ..but you didn't have too)
"Abeh ..rakna hai toh rak warna wapas de de .."She said sternly yet teasingly
(Hey ! If you want it keep it if not then just give it back .)
Dev chuckled "No ..I want to keep it …"
'Let me try it!"
HE swiftly took of his shirt shamelessly and her cheek flushed seeing his abs and muscular figure ..Her eyes widened up by a fraction and her heart started pasting so fast …Her jaws dropped and felt heat on her cheeks …She couldn't let him realize this!
"Kyun re ..sharam nahi ati kya!" ( What the heck! How shameful of you ) She scold yet tried to control her heart beats "Ladki ke samne aise kapre utare hai .."( Changing you clothes in front of a girl ) She asked chewing her gum trying to hide her blush
Dev was about to defend himself when he saw her looking away not daring looking at him in such state …
"Kyun ..Tum toh kabhie sharmati nahi ho ..kya faraq partha hai ?" (Why! Its not like your going to get shy , what difference does it make )HE said casually trying on the shirt ..
Radhika felt her pulse quicken as she looked back at him , she notice his playful smile .
"Tuhje thodi bhi si sharma nahi hai kya!?"she said loudly
(Don't you even have a tiny shame !)
"why you think you have shame ..your always stealing other peoples money .." He rebuked and walked toward the mirror ..
Radhika was about to say something when his comment drifted away her thoughts ..
"wow ..I like it! Thanks Radhika it's a perfect fit ."
Radhika smiled chewing her gum delightfully. It looked good on him ..
"Chalo neeche ..main pasta banara tha .."
(Come downstairs..I was making pasta ..)
"Pasta ?" She asked frowning confusedly..
Dev found her cute and chuckled "Come I'll show you .."
They both made their way down to the kitchen
Radhika made herself comfortable and sat on the kitchen counter taking a banana and peeling it .Dev was mixing the sauce
"Radhika ..tum acha halwa banatiho .. I tried the one you made the other time you came…"HE admitted sheepishly..
Radhika chuckled biting a piece of her banana ..
"Tuh toh abhi zinda hai?" She asked little sarcastically .
(but how comes your still alive?)
"Zinda?"
(Alive?)
"Maine toh us main zaher dala tha na?" She said smiling mockingly
( I put poison in it ..remember..)
Dev started laughing remembering that he thought she put poison in the halwa…
"Haan main zinda hoon …koi zaher nahi tha us main …Lekin saach main bohut acha bana tha …" He said boiling the pasta..
(Yes ..Im still alive ..there was no poison in it ..but really it was good..)
He glanced at her and her mouth was filled with the banana he found her cute with her bloated cheeks .She gulped and spoke
"Main itna bura khanna nahi banati .."(Im not that bad of a cook..) She said looking curiously at what he was doing , she was impressed that he knew how to cook …
"Tuhje kisne sikaya?" He asked ..
( who taught you ?)
"ma ne ..jab main 10 saal ki thi ..Ma ne muhje …roti , halwa aur chai banane sikaya …"( My mother …when I was 10 years old she thaught me how to make hoti , pudding and tea ) she said recalling her moments with her mother ..
Dev smiled seeing her getting her own flashback of her mother
"Aur ..tumhari Arpita ma??" He asked cautiously ..
(And you step mother?)
"Who moti! "She asked
(That fatty?)
"Haan .." (yes)
"Who moti ne muhje kuch nahi sikaya ..sirf apni aur apni beti ki khushi pyari hai use ….hamesha meri MA ke barein main bura bholthi hai aur main use kabhie maaf nahi kaorugi ..Jee kartha hai ke main use maar daloon! Budiya kahinki! Apne beti Vishaka ko khud ko kuch nahi sikaya ..muhje kya sikayegi ? Us moti ki wajah se bude muhjese pyar nahi karthe …muhjese sab kuch cheenliya us Budiya ne! Agar mera bas main hota main use ….."
(That Fatty didn't teach me anything …She only cares about her and her own daughter happiness.. She always insult my mother and I will never forgive her for that .Sometimes feel like killing her ..that stupid lady! She didn't teach nothing to her daughter Vishaka ..what will she teach me? Because of her my father went far from me , she took everything away from me ..If I had th chance I would ….)
Dev made her taste the sauce ..with a spoon ..
"bohut bolti ho tum "Dev said "Namak kaisa hai ?" he asked casually
(You talk a lot ..How's the salt ?)
Radhika eyes widened lightly and felt little embarrassed did she talk that much! She barely chattered with anyone like this .
"If talking about your stepmother bothers you so much lets not talk about her ..I don't like seeing you angry …I like it when you smile " He said reasoning yet sweet
She swallowed the sauce.
"Hmm..acha hai! Lekin thoda aur namak .." (Its good but little more salt..) She said honestly and smiled hearing his last comment ..She felt nice knowing that he doesn't like seeing her angry but happy.
Dev poured a little in a bowl and tasted the sauce with the same spoon as her , she raised her brows surprised seeing this , she was about to stop him but he didn't seemed bothered . In the contrary he didn't mind sharing anything she would eat .
"hmm your right it needs salt.."
Radhika unknowingly felt her heart race beneath her chest as she saw Dev cooking and feeling so comfortable around her like this …She just smiled along his talks ,
Dadima walked pass and saw both Radhika and Dev laughing .She never saw Radhika smiling like this before , she would always be serious and curt but seeing Radhika laughing rejoiced her heart .She knows Radhika mother passed away and was away feeling lonely but now with Dev here , she felt as if she got a friend and someone who was becoming dear to her…
"Radhika you want to cut these green peppers for me.." HE asked giving her a chopping board
"Haan .."She jumped of the counter and took out her own knife "Mere paas mera rampuri hai "( I have my knife ) She was about to cut the peppers when Dev stopped her ..
"nahi Radhika ..not with that , with a kitchen knife .."He swiftly forwarded a cutting knife
Radhika took a uninteresting sigh "Theek hai …" She started cutting the peppers helping him ..
Dev started talking about his daily life in America , He told her that he started cooking when he lived alone during his university years .Radhika got interested in his stories and activities. He seemed like a very cool and relaxed guy . She could easily talk to him and tell him anything …She also noticed that he dated many girls , she made few comment on the girls that made Dev laugh . He loved the way she was playful with him and asked some innocent questions as well .. …HE never expected someone who he hated at first could turn out to bee so fun and cute ..
The boiling pasta were done and he removed the water and left the pasta cool down in a bowl …
Radhika was sneakily going to take one but Dev tapped her hand lightly
"Kya kari ho ??tumhara haath jaal jayega .."HE warned concernedly
(What are you doing? You will get burned like that ..)
"Kyun beh ..main bachi nahi hoon main jaanthi hoon ke main kya kari hoon ….Samja."
(Hey! Im not a child I know what I'm doing ..understand..)
"Fine go ahead! "Dev said knowing the consequences
Radhika took one but her finger burned and quickly dropped the piece of macaroni
"Ahhh!!! "
"See I told you!" HE quickly took her hand and let the water from the tab cool it down
Radhika glanced at Dev seeing how quickly he reacted ..She didn't know why her heart was beating s fast like this , why was he like this? Why did he have to be so caring .She just felt odd in her heart these feelings never occurred before .She felt little worried for herself this wasn't normal !
Dev glanced at Radhika and saw her in deep thought he snapped his fingers..Making her come out her trace.
"Hun??" She said chewing her gum lightly
"KAbhie kabhie meri baat maan liya karo .." He said firmly yet teasingly
( You could listen to me sometimes ..)
She just looked down like a little girl knowing he was right about her burning her finger but wasn't going to admit it ..Dev thought she looked so cute but didn't compliment her or else she would slap him across the face .

Dev poured pasta in a bowl and her eyes widened up excitedly , she couldn't wait for the final taste! She was about to eat it wit her hand when Dev stopped her
"Radhika …we don't eat this with our hands.." He explained
"toh phir kaise khate hain!" She demanded
(Then how we eat it?)
"Iss ke saath "(With this)HE said showing her the fork and demonstrated her how to eat the pasta
Radhika tried eating wit hthe fork and it wasn't so bad ..She smiled feeling proud of herself
Dev watched Radhika eat , she was enjoying every bite and looked very adorable
"acha laga?"(Like it?)
"Bohut!" (Very much )she said taking another bite
Dev chuckled feeling very glad she liked it ..
"agli bar jab tum aogi …main kuch aur banounga.."
(Next time I will make something else for you ..)
He even packed some for her to take home ..Radhika thanked him and left after saying her goodbyes …
Dev went up in his room and laid down on his pillow , what was happening to him , it seemed as if he wanted Radhika with him all the time now! He took a deep sigh making his heart understand that she was a very hard girl to get .He wasn't sure if she had the same feelings for him …He then remembered her buying him the shirt and his heart warmed up , this was very sweet of her . He chuckled boyishly , was this the same Radhika that he had fights with! She looked mean and terse from the outside , but in the inside was something else . She had a innocence and was cute . When she laughed she was beautiful , her eyes twinkled and cheeks glow with pink shade .It was something he found so unique from her . It was hard to believe that the girl that steals money and makes trouble could be like this. HE shouldn't have judged her before knowing her . She was truly captivating his heart .
Radhika entered her house..
"Abhe chori ..kahan se ari hai ?!" Arpita asked..
(hey girl? Where are you coming from?)
"Kyun re moti! Itna achanak mere khayal araha tuhje!" (Why you fatty ? Why suddenly thinking about me ?) She said loudly and stern and walked up her room .
Arpita just cursed Radhika under her mouth
Radhika entered her room and laid down there for a while , she then started recollected everything that occurred today .She smiled but then her cheeks felt hot remembering Dev taking off his shirt in front of her ..She hit her head lightly making her come our these thoughts . Why was she thinking like this! She had to control herself!!
