I got my first tattoo in Chicago in the year 2002. I wanted to get a design that was relevant to me, rather than something I would want to get rid of later on in life. The Chinese culture has always fascinated me, so I decided to get a sheep, the animal that corresponds to my Chinese birth year. One crazy night of partying in Chicago prompted us to finally get the tattoo over and done with. So at one am, two friends and I scoured the streets of Chicago looking for a tattoo parlour that was still open. When we finally found one, my two friends chickened out, and I was the only one who ended up getting one!
