I think the story was a typical one. There were elements within the story like the characters, characterization, acting that made the drama worth watching..but the story was cliche to say the least. While I was watching the initial episodes I had a feeling that Atiqa's character was a negative one but I was hoping that they don't turn the drama into the ttypical saas-bahu saga..however, it did turn into that & that was annoying. The letter part was so terrible. How the hell did Asher never get a chance to read the letter despite the servant knowing about it..also, I believe in one of the episodes he's so close to seeing it, but somehow he misses it. Some parts were flawed.

The story definitely was so-so at best. When people talk about Humsafar..they hardly ever talk about Farhat Ishtiaq's storyline. It's always other stuff WITHIN the drama/story that people liked..& that itself shows that the drama, dare I say it..as a whole was overrated.

I have seen better dramas with better storylines. I think Asher-Khirad had good chemistry..Sara was played very well by Naveen..& the OST of Humsafar was beyond brilliant..but it ends right there for me.

Same here 100% agree

The story was nothing new...and not too surprising with twists and stuff either. But the way it was presented was just brilliant. I loved that this was a high quality work with actors perfectly fitting into the roles, the chemistry and the camera work. It really gave a feeling of professional work. And, I am a sucker for romantic stories:P probably that's why I'm watching lots of indian soaps:P
Sometimes the stories of dramas are great...but they fail to present it the correct way...sometimes it is the quality, sometimes the dialogues or sometimes the actors not fitting the part... Everything just doesn't click...for me MeJ just didn't click...I only watched the first and last episodes of it cuz of curiosity...
but I felt that Humsafar was a complete package, a simple story presented in a beautiful way...

you just reminded me of something else. I do think Sarmad was brilliant with his direction!

I'm a big fan of Sarmad..I've seen some of his recent work such as Pani Jaisa Pyar, JalPari & Humsafar..and one thing they all had in common was good direction. That's another thing I liked..Sarmad knew how to direct the drama with such a story.

Agree with that. I also liked the direction of SeZ first episode. And direction wasn't that bad of Ashk either, but the story hasn't grown on me so far...

oh, I have yet to see Ashk & SeZ..but I will definitely soon...I'm sure Sarmad's direction will be praiseworthy in these serials too if nothing else.

I feel that Sarmad has really upped the standard with his dramas now and other directors have to match this now to keep me hooked...

@starstuck n @coccojatti..

i agree wid u both dt humsafar's story line wsn't a unique one...it ws based on d same love triangle theme...bt d way every emotion turned out is wht makes humsafar a special show... when i watchd its episode( 9th episode ws d first episode i had seen on net...rain scene...after dat i catchd up wid d 1st 8 episodes in a one go...) i thought its such a beautiful show...so close to reality yet beautiful, simple n elegant...i wuld say its a team effort...if actors emoted wid dere hearts den all technicians used dere brains to work on every single detail while shooting...n yes m a fan of sarmad's work...i have already seen pani jaisa pyaar,jalpari..his telefilms...n ofcourse humsafar...n nw following ashk n shehr-e-zaat...
i think he set d benchmark wid humsafar...:)
@starstuck...i think u did ryt by nt forcing to see more episodes...coz first few episodes were d bestest episodes...😊

i totally agree Sarmad is The best director we have 👏
now i think he wants to do movies ...he was actually was an art director not much into commercial stuff ...but you guys are right he has set the standard very high
next in line i would say are Haissam Hussain and Adnan Ahmed
Mehreen Jabbar is also a wonderful director but dont know what went wrong with her recent projects !
