Today after a long time through an internet TV I saw starplus and this serial, I was surprised to see this ad:

Here if I'm not mistaken, the girl is trying to go for the crotch (groin) of unknown males in a subway! Its right between this serial which is aimed at family? Fastrack Watches?

Well I can say that everytime I try to understand India, I just fail.

I'm a Polish, and in Poland this ad would probably be censored, or atleast aired in some other time (after midnight maybe).

I don't know if I am out of context, but I was shocked, perhaps after such a long time I log into some Indian TV, and I have seen this series before while I were in India.

At one end there is this serial with tradition and culture, and on the other hand this ad. Its two extreme ends!

India - a land of contrasts 😕 ... why do they allow this between family shows I wonder. Its so shocking, still...

this is india and they have those men's deodrant adds in family viewing times, its same here in australia you will not see adds like that in family shows (only in india you have family shows still running around at 10pm where family viewing times end at 8.30pm here) so just ignore the add no one watches them

My surprise is not the ad, but two things surpsrise me:

1. The add comes between a family show

2. The add comes between a show which tells about India and its traditions, cultures, a presentation rather - and the add shows a truly loose girl.

Maybe for you it is normal, but I just try to know India, and I sometimes find many things complicated or contradictory.

I am myself a European, and here such ad can be expected, but even that only after midnight! Usually, most channels would not do something like that as it can effect their sales negatively. While it is true that Europeans are more permissing for such public display, but we have given them a perimeter to work into, and not beyond that.

I wonder if I am actually clear about it. I don't know if I could explain. I was just shocked ... and being a non-Indian (only related to it though my marriage) I found this very confusing.

How can the same audience which loves this series be the target audience for such an advertisement?

I am sure young teenage girls and also boys would watch this show. I remember while in India, everyone would sit during these times in the room 😕. It seem now that no one but me was surprised 😆. I guess my being surprised is surprising 😆?

Anyways, I apologise if I raised something irrelevant. But trust me, for someone who would view as a foreighner (i.e. who don't have or never had any genetic/blood ties with India) with a certain idea about India (specially through such series and listening about the value system from family and friends in India) would find it perplexing enough, also relevant enough! 😕

as for the ads.. well, as far as i have noticed, Indian's have this mentality to change channels whenever the ads comes, and that's the reason not much importance is given to the standard of ads.. here you have so much competition in a particular time slot that when break comes on one channel, people tend to shift the channels, or the ad breaks are used to fetch water or dinner for the family and that's the reason no one pays attention to these ads..😕

cases have been going on against all this but you know, compared to Europe, India is really slow in these cases and that's why all this is going on.. the TRAI (company responsible for managing what is to be telecast at a particular time) is more concerned about what is shown in shows than these ads because they know, ads are not for family audience..😕

I dunno, but it seems its acceptable in India.

So here is something I found where Europe seem more conservative 😆, atleast my part of Europe 😆😆😆...

Such ads would never be aired between family shows no matter whether the viewer zaps around or not 😛 ... but I guess it people there are OK with it 😊, it must be culturally not too offensive?

If I think of this and try to match the other things I know about India, I end up in conflicting ideas and its really very confusing 😕... so I will just take it as its described by all of you!

people here are not only OK with such type of things, they're indifferent as well.. sad but true.. till the time they aren't affected by anything in person, they won't take notice of it..

culturally offensive or not, it doesn't really matter.. as long as your child won't start doing the same thing, you won't take it's notice.. in more conservative/indifferent households where children and elders sit and watch TV together, people tend to change the channel as and when the ad comes and by cursing TRAI - what kind of ads do they show, but never really do anything..

have you heard that song from latest movie Shanghai? the lyrics are like this - will translate them for you..😊

Don't know when again I can come to India ...

In India usually I remain in the house, and go out with the car. But I think in winter I can just walk too. Last time I ended up in some of the summer too, and had rashes due to the hot sun while visiting the Baha'i House of Worship (Lotus Temple) in Delhi.

I still remember I never could imagine summer can be this hot. In my country summers are 22/25 celcius... or maybe 28 at most (rarely in my city)!

India for me mostly is in my family. For further, I am curious, but I think it is just so big.

I visited Kerela and some other parts. For a foreighner (visibly, a white girl like me), everything perhaps might be presented differently when in India? ... people are either too nervous, or too generous, or too evasive, or a little xenophobic!

But I am just happy that my inlaws are more normal with me as time passes.

Thank you for the translation 😊, no I didn't hear the song 😆. I don't watch Indian movies (or even hollywood). I usually watch Russian movies! But I will find it out 😆
