Ok...just finished watching Issa's upload of today's episode (Thank you so much Issa!)
So here is what I feel:
I read Naava's post about Archana's reaction. I mention this because this was very well-written and sensible: I would be lying if I didnt share that I found myself wondering if this was the case myself. Naava wrote that the Money/Power aspect of this whole thing (coming to the Precap) is because Archana thinks that Arjun has done this because he thinks he can. To her, she believes that since he is rich and powerful, he thinks he can control everything and make everything go the way he believes it should go.
Now to be fair- this does make sense to a certain extent. However, like Naava, I am also horrified that she would ask Purvi to choose between her and Arjun. That is ridiculous and uncalled for--not to mention highly insensitive. This is the Archana who is supposed to be gentle and sensitive to people's feelings...and who also has a love story of her own where she and her husband were each other's greatest love and support. That she of all people is behaving like this is ridiculous and unbelievable.
2 things that I saw for myself that did warm my heart a little. I am glad to see that Purvi is no longer the cold, stiff girl that she has been all this time. She looked totally stricken when Archana gave her that ultimatum. Before, she wouldnt even hesitated. Now, her shock and grief was very apparent on her face. Sulo immediately questioned Archana and comforted Purvi. I really have high hopes for her too--and that too based on her actions.
1) This whole thing was possible because of her in the first place. If left to her own devices, Purvi was going to call Arjun and clear up the whole matter with his confession to Manav and Ovi...and no doubt pull another "I dont love you lets sacrifice angle." Thanks to Sulo, and her gentle and firm advice, she was able to guide Purvi the right way and make her realize there is no crime in loving someone. Thanks to her the outcome was very different and we got what we wanted- which was their reunion.
2) In the precap it is very obvious that Purvi is horrified and crying at the words Archana is saying to Arjun. She is not standing there simply listening. Seeing Archana talk to Arjun like that is definitely causing her pain to the point of her crying- that too in earnest.
As a lot of people have been intimating...if it is so clear cut that Purvi is ready to drop Arjun like a bad habit at the slightest indication from her Aai...her emotions would not be like this. She would not be reacting like this. The scene with Archana did not convince me as much as the precap did. If her mind was already made up and she was sure that she would be ready to let go of Arjun, she would not be crying while Archana is insulting him. That is for sure.
Also, I dont really blame Purvi for wanting to please Archana. We know for a fact that every moment of every day she is feeling grateful that an orphan like her got another chance at life with Archana and Sulochana. It doesnt matter what Archana or Sulochana themselves think-what matters is that Purvi herself thinks that she is not equal. Being adopted, and knowing the fact, and watching her mother's real actual family has put her in a great dilemma because Purvi is unable to ever take anything for granted. Not because she is doing a senseless Mahaan like Archana. But because she sincerely believes that she owes Archana a debt for adopting her. She feels indebted. Thats entirely different.
Archana's sacrifices make no sense whatsoever. Sacrificing for Sachin, Manav, etc. is just emotional foolishness and stupidity. Other than for her own self righteousness, there is no need to sacrifice anything because there is nothing that Archana owes Sachin, Savita, or even Manav. Purvi's dilemma is very different and very real...she feels she owes Archana--there is a debt to be paid and a favor to be paid back----and thats the difference.
That is why we feel for Purvi and for Arjun. Knowing this, for Archana to put her "daughter" she supposedly loves so much in this dilemma---and force to choose between her mother she is grateful to and she feels she owes for everything----and the love of her life---and that too when the other girl in question is her mother's own daughter----it is not only cruel---it is simply heartless. So heartless it is on a scale with Savita herself.
Reacting badly to Arjun and not accepting him right away is, while not really fine, understandable. Forcing this kind of choice is ridiculous...emotional blackmail? What is all that about?? Why not just take the girl's life instead and be done with it?? Because like Ovi, its too late...she is in love too...and so things will never be the same again in her life either. In Ovi's case it sucks but nothing can be done- her love is one-sided so end of story. However, in Purvi's case...she is just as much in love and emotionally invested...but here is a chance to save her...let her be with her love since he loves her back instead of destroying her life too.
