Drowning…in Love – BaniJai
Apologia – By Oscar Wilde (1854–1900).
Is it thy will that I should wax and wane?
Barter my cloth of gold hodden grey,
And at them pleasure weave that web of pain,
Whose brightest threads are each a wasted day?
Is it thy will—Love that I love so well---
That my Soul's House should be a tortured spot
Wherein, like evil paramours, must dwell
The quenchless flame, the worm that dieth not?
Nay, if it be they will I shall endure
And sell ambition at the common mart,
And let dull failure be my vesture
And sorrow digs its grave within my heart
Perchance it maybe better so—at feast
I have not made my heart a heart of stone
Nor starved my boyhood of it's goody feast,
Nor walked where Beauty is a thing unknown
Black and white he found this world. Colors evaporated the day that incident happened. Life is a route to destruction for him, destruction for that one person who BETRAYED him. His first failure, his first heart break and the first time shame and anger enveloped him. Even after a year and a half, he sits isolated in darkness, reminiscing over those past memories vowing for revenge, such revenge that will not only satisfy his heart but payback all that he suffered. He has immense wealth resulting from the business empire he created all these years, he has an enormous family, yet he is empty. His life feels empty because of that one deceit. Today, he sits on his mahogany golden-brown rocking chair, swinging back and forth anticipating the day after tomorrow, when that person with lowered eyes will beg in front of him, and how…oh how he will feel satisfied! He is none other than Jai Walia, intense silvery black eyes, a smile that will melt any heart and an attitude that drizzles with power, ambition and dominance.
Mount Abu
Greenery of hills and plantations, waters and streams as blue as the sky and mountains standing taller than any building, this is Mount Abu. One of the most beautiful places in India. Settled on the very top of one hill is a small two-story house and hurrying out of it a young woman comes carrying a vegetable basket. Her straight black silky hair flies behind her, her eyes twinkle in the fresh morning sunlight and her smile sparkles with pure cheerfulness and good nature. Adjusting her light pink scarf of her light pink salwar, Bani Dixit makes her way to the vegetable market humming a harmonious tune of her favorite song, "muskurata jeevan, chere pyar ki dhun, naye naye sapne, ankhon mai bun…Kasamh se..Kasamh se…Kasamh se…" Bani buys her vegetables after negotiating a great deal for the prices with the vendors, and then makes her way back to her home. In she goes and calls out to her two sisters…"Pia...Rano...mai agayi hoon, tum dono thaayar ho ke nahi…" Bani is answered back with silence, Bani puts her hands on her hips and smiles. She marches up the stairs and into her two sister's bedroom; she finds Rano and Pia both clutching their blankets in deep dreamy sleep. Bani pulls off their covers and shakes them awake. Pia grumbles and grumpily wipes her eyes in pretentious distress "kya di, subhe subhe jagha diya, ithna acha sapna dekha tha aur apne bigaar diya." Bani sits down on the bed and looks at her twinkling, "acha, toh aaj kiska chehra dekha apne apne sapne mai? Sharukh ka ya Salman ka?" Pia looks up at her sister, and sits up, "dii…aap na hamesha mera mazaak udaati rethi hai…maine aaj dekha ki meri shaadi ek badhe se ghar mai horahi hai, waha naukar chakar, gaadi sabkuch hai..haaye dii kya sapna tha, aur aap dekhna meri shaadi waise hi ghar mai hogi." Bani caresses Pia's hair lovingly, "Pia tumhare har sapne ko mai poora hothe huwe dekhna chahti hoon, par sapne mai ithna math doobo ke hakeekat nazar na aye.." Rano gets out of bed, "lo hogaya shuru lecture memsaab aur rajkumari ke sapne…najane isse ghar ka kya hoga?" Rano reaches for her black specks and goes to the bathroom to wash up for breakfast sloppily.
Bani is about to get up to prepare breakfast when Pia grabs her hand, "dii..ab hum kya karenge..papa ko guzre huwe ek hafta hogaya hai…paise bhi katham hone lage hai…mai sochree thi koi job karlu.." Bani hushes her "Pia tumhe koi job karne zaroorat nahi hai" Pia is about to protest, when Bani gets up and is almost to the door when Pia says "di mai jaanti hoon ki humara ghar neelaam hone waala hai…maine apki aur Mr. Rane ki baath sunlee thi…ab hum kya karenge? Hum apna ghar neelaam hothe huwe kaise dekh sakte hai, kya hum kuch kar nahi sakte?" Bani whips around and stares at Pia in astonishment, then sadness and then goes to hug her, tears bristling in her eyes. "Tum fikar math karna Pia, mai kuch na kuch zaroor karoongi."
Later in the day, Bani goes to meet Mr. Rane who their father's lawyer. Bani questions him on the latest developments of the auctioning of their house and if it can be stopped in any possible way? Bani dejectedly goes home to be met with her two sisters sitting hopeful in their verandah. Bani shakes her head sadly and thinks to herself "aaj mai haar gayi, maine aapse vaada kiya tha papa ki mai Pia aur Rano ko har khushi doongi, par laak koshish karne ke bawajood humara yeh ghar kisi aur ke paas jaanewaala hai.." Pia gets up and looks at her Bani di questionably, construing from the sadness in her eyes of the outcome. "dii, kuch nahi hosaka? Ab hum kaha jaayenge?" Bani looks at Pia and then at Rano who is now sobbing openly, "humara ghar…humara nahi raha?" Bani rushes to console Rano, "Rano..tumhe patha hai..kii" Rano nods her eyes tearfully "Pia ne bathaya" Bani looks at Pia sternly.."dii, Rano ko bathana tho tha, akhir kaise chupathe yeh baath.." Pia says sorrowfully, Bani gestures for her to come to her and they all three share a warm hug. Bani then notices the letter still clutched in her hand, the letter which Mr. Rane gave her saying her father wanted them to read it if he wasn't there to take care of them anymore. Bani opens the letter and all three read the letter which their father wrote saying how much he loved them, yet couldn't do much for them, yet he is positive that his eldest daughter Bani will take care of his two younger daughters Pia and Rano and if they ever need help of any kind, go to a Mr. Walia who will help them regardless of however big or small the problem is. Bani thinks to herself "haan papa, Pia aur Rano ki mai hamesha maa rahi hoon, aur zindagi mai aage jo bhi hoga, mai apne do beheno ki zindagi se har kaata apne par leloongi aur unhe dukh ka saamna kabhi nahi karna padega…yeh vaada raha..mera aapse..KASAMH SE…
