Checking in:
Om Prakash placed the bags in the car, while Arnav and Khushi said their goodbyes to everyone. Arnav and khushi got in the car and Arnav drove off.
"Have you got the passports and the Boat tickets??"
"Yes." Arnav replied "and yes"
Arnav felt slightly guilty for lying about the latter, but it had to be done, if Khushi knew they were going to the airport. She would... well... she would have a cow and a half. Arnav had banned anyone in the house from telling her, and hid all the evidence from her prying eyes.
I should get a nobel prize for this... I wonder if every husband has to go through this. Arnav said to himself. Meanwhile khushi called her maternal home to say her goodbyes. Fifteen minutes later Arnav stopped the car outside the airport. He got out of the car, put his bag over his shoulder, and went over to open his wife's door (just like a true gentleman😍). Khushi looked up at him puzzled.
"Arnavji, why are we here??"
"First drink this, and I'll tell you why?"
Khushi obediently drank the drink in the bottle Arnav had handed to her while glancing at the surroundings.
Khushi recognised this airport from last year, he could still remember that awful day as if she were there again and the horrid weeks that had followed. Ever since then she had promised never to let her husband or herself to enter that place again. But here she was. When she had finished the drink, she tapped her foot on the floor impatiently waiting for an answer . Arnav sighed.
"Khushi, we're not going by boat. We're going by plane.."
"Like hell we are!" Khushi's eyes started to well up with tears.
"Please Khushi! Nothing will happen I promise."
"No! I am not going in there! Especially not without bodyguards. You should have told me this before then i could have arranged for the bodyguards and-"
"Khushi, if i had told you, you wouldn't have agreed to come!"
"Well i'm not going!"
"Are you crazy?!? Do you know how much these tickets cost??"
"You're a millionaire... You can afford it! We're not going and that's final"
Why does she have to be so stubborn?? Oh well.. time for plan B
Arnav took khushi's seatbelt off and picked her up in his arms.
"Put me down!! I'm not going!! Put me down!!" Khushi kicked her legs having a mini-tantrum. People were starting to stare.
"I don't want to--" Khushi started to say. Suddenly khushi felt sleepy
"I dont want--" she tried to repeat. She closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep. She lay there in Arnav's arms as he watched her fall asleep. The drink had done it's job.
Well, at least plan C worked...I suppose it was a bit drastic, but she'll forgive me and hopefully thank me later. Arnav thought to himself. That is, if she doesn't kill me first.
"Sir?"
Arnav turned his head to find who called him. Aman had arrived just at the right time.
"Aman!! Thank God! You came at just the right time. Could you help me with the bags?? Put them in the trolley and help me take them towards the check-in desk."
"Okay, but is khushi madam okay?" Aman aked, clearly concerned.
"Yeah, she just fell asleep in the car, I don't want to wake her up." Arnav lied.
Aman put the bags in the trolley, locked the car, and walked ahead to the check-in desk. Arnav hesitated for a second and then followed him.
A middle aged married couple saw him walk by carrying a sleepy khushi. The wife pinched her husband.
"OWWW!! What was that for??"
"Why can't you be more like him?? Learn something!! Look at the way he carries his sleeping wife. "
"If i did that, i would break my back" the husband muttered.
"What?!?!?"
"Nothing!!"
"Thought so!"
Meanwhile Arnav and Aman got to the check-in desk and loaded all the baggage on the conveyor belt. The baggage went off to be loaded on to the plane while all the formalities (passport checks etc.) were being carried out. Aman put the boarding passes in Arnav's bag.
"Thank you so much Aman for all your help. I'll see you when I come back."
"Bye Sir." and with that Aman left the airport.
Arnav walked with khushi in his arms, towards the departure lounge , and sat khushi down on a sofa next to him, while he nervously waited for her to wake up.
"Arnav-ji?"
Arnav's stomach filled with dread as he watched his wife wake up.
I hope you liked it!!
