I am just not able to believe that he could be lying. If he is, then he would be the most black-hearted villain in Indian TV history. Who would tell such a big lie to such an earnest girl, so much in love? That would make Vikram a villain and unredeemable.

But there is some mystery. Numbers don't add up. I commented in the update thread. Adi said he has not heard his mama speak of love in a long time. Vikram says his wife died only one year ago. His sister says it would have been nice if Vikram's wife was there (agar Vikram ki bahu hoti) to take care of the house. To which Vikram said why are you raising old issues.

When did Vikram's wife really die? ❓ And how?

The writers are doing a very good job. The fine line between 'sahi' and 'khaas' that Vikram is talking about, that's really a very good line.👏

I also noticed Vikram's face when Sugni said byah. Either he didn't hear her, or he is not bothered. Which means, he is thinking of byah? Is he biding time, to convince everyone in his family towards that plan? He knows Aditya will oppose the most. That's why he is trying to get Aditya to see another side of bedia life may be.
