Why did Ashutosh fall in love with Nidhi?

On the face of it, it is an absurd question...I mean love goes beyond reason..it just happens...and all that...and yet, I can't help but ask this question...

Let us forget all the other women that Ashutosh could have chosen to fall in love with...since there are only two contendors on the show, at least as of now, let us confine ourselves to them...I really want to know why he chose Nidhi over Mallika

Mallika - gorgeous, smart, a great and loyal friend, a human being whose company he had been seeking for the last twelve years...on the face of it, she seems to the perfect material for Ashutosh's wife...their interests were similar, their work was a common factor, they were close in age - all in all they appear a made for each other couple...

Nidhi - smart, pretty, bubbly but also immature at times, irresponsible, their tastes were far apart, the huge gap in age...together they appear a recipe for disaster...

Why then this unusual pairing? Was it a tendency to commit emotional haraki? Was it a case of opposites attract? Was it a case of pheromones?

Look forward to your views.

Sujatha, keeping aside the fact that there is no logical reason why a person falls in love with the other and its their destiny etc etc..one thing strikes me...don't know if it makes sense or not..but here it is..

Mallika was in love with Ashu and was waiting for him..but never forced him into deciding and was very patient until he told her that he is in love with Nidhi.
Nidhi on the other hand was very "in the face" kind of a person..she likes someone..doesn't hide the fact...she comes right out and says it..she was the first one among the two of them to accept that she loves someone who is older to her by 18 yrs..Ashu subconsciously senses it...her attraction towards him and initially is baffled by it and rejects it too..but the feelings of Nidhi are so out in the open for him to see that he can't help but respond..may be..

As you said Sujatha,
Opposites attract. And Love knows no reason, lovers are not tailormade (at least not on earth) My Sasuma says, jodis are made in heaven.
If you see my own story, we were poles apart (people on this forum called us real life AshNI), with a 12 yr gap, regional difference, eating habits differences and what not.
Yet we fell in love, got married, had kids, struggled to hold on together, and today enjoy the differences...laugh it aloud.
LOve is the thing jispar Hindi film industry chalti hai...dont underestimate it yaar.
Ashu himself confessed to Armaan many number of times...ek khayi se hai...usme girne ki baar baar chahat hoti hai...You can also have hints in the Raja Titli story.
Hope this answers your question...

Wow Malvika..didn't know you are living "KTLK"..cool..👍🏼.then i guess you are much better at answering that question..my husband says he fell in love with me as soon as he saw me...to this day he can't explain the pull he felt...as for me, i kind of grew into it..likes him as a person first, then got attracted...that kind of a thing...so my guess is it varies from person to person..why Ashu fell in love with Nidhi and NOT Mallika is a question only that character can answer..but since the answer would come from KPji, i am scared to think of what it would be..😆

Wanna agree with Malvika... on her view.. but there are other major aspects... there are many similarities in AshNi beyond the superficial ones...

>> both love kids
>> both had (at that point when they met) suffered losses .. nidhi lost her mom .. ashu then had lost his baba
>>both are good docs (the limited we hv seen of nidhi as a doc..she had a spark and the professional ashu approved of it totally)
>> as Malvika put it.. the 'in ur face' contrasts of Ashu with Nidhi.. were actually the cliche 'opposites attract'

&

beyond this the attraction was palpable and totally understandable.. he became her HERO and she.. his Beautiful DREAM

Suja, I don't know if you can really force somebody to make a choice...I mean if they were indecisive and confused maybe...however Ashutosh was very clear in his mind that he did not love Mallika...and yet, the threat of loss might have worked...I mean if Mallika had threatened to exit his life if he did not marry her...but, would a marriage born out of such a threat, have survived...maybe it would have, after a fashion, since they were the best of friends...it might not have been the most passionate of marriages but they would have settled into it...

The other person who could have forced his hand vis a vis Mallika would have been Baba...Ashutosh might have married Mallika for BB...

However, in both these instances, it might have resulted in marriage but not love...at least not the passionate, romantic sort that we all dream of...

Malvika, good to hear of a real-life Ashni...may your love flourish even more in all the years to come!

I agree...love is what makes the world go around and all that...but. it is an abstract concept after a point...I was looking for tangible reasons...but yes, as you have pointed out, they filled empty spaces in each other which they did not even realize existed...they completed each other in ways Mallika could not dream of...but again, this is still abstract...why do you think they were able to do this?

Tanu, very beautifully phrased...I guess that is the difference between Mallika and Nidhi...Mallika was never his dream...she was not that elusive presence that we seek all through our lives...the other half of ourselves or our soulmates...but after KPji's explanation, I am rather fearful of even using the word soulmate...🤣

Very correct Sujatha..one can force a marriage not love...Ashu and Nidhi "clicked" for reasons like Armu has said, kids, mutual loss etc..that was the initial pull both of them had towards each other...but what turned it into love? was it hero and dream girl thing? or was it the fact that Ashu met Nidhi at a time in his life when everything was just down to being a routine and at the end of the end he was left alone? and Nidhi was the breath of fresh air that he was so desperately in need of??
