Swarnalatha is a South Indian film playback singer. Swarnalatha has worked with some of the most well established film composers in the industry, notably Ilayaraaja and A. R. Rahman. Songs she has sung on include Povoma Oorgolam from the film Chinna Thambi, and Rakkamma from the film Thalapathi. Both were composed by Ilayaraja. She also sang the song Porale Ponnuthayi from Bharathiraja's 1994Tamil film Karuththamma, composed by A. R. Rahman. She went on to win the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song in 1995. She has lent her voice to hit songs from films including Thalapathi (1991), Thevar Magan (1992), Karuththamma (1994), Bombay (1995), Indian (1996), and Minsaara Kanavu (1997). .

Swarnalatha has always been one of my favourites... She is TOO good in every song. My favourite of her's is Hai Rama.. What perfection she has given to that song. Even though i am a GREAT fan of kavitaji, I dont even think she could have sung this song as well as swarnalatha. What i really like about her is her perfection in each and EVERY murkhi she does..

For example, In Hai Rama, in the second mukhuda, when she finishes off, singing, "Jaane Do Na" WHAT PERFECTION she has song that with!! 👏 I am in love with swarnalathaji... 😳

yeah i can kinda tell abhi but great thread i have heard hai rama and it was really good but didn't know she was the one who sang it

I've tried to read about swarnalatha but never found any biographies or anything on her. Where did you get this information?
