Gurmeet Chaudhary's Punar Vivah is busy multiplying the star cast!

January 16 at 11:49am
Last we had informed you about Gurmeet Choudhary aka Maan Singh Khurana making a comeback post Geet Hui Sabse Parayi with Zee TV's Punar Vivah.

The show will see Gurmeet playing a much matured character Siddharth, who is a widower and has two kids. Further, he will be paired with Kratika Sengar last seen in Jhansi Ki Rani. Kratika essays a widow who has a kid and is living with her in-laws. The story of Punar Vivah revolves around these two different individuals who are made to share a life when their respective families get them tied in the nuptial knot.

Well, the plot is indeed quite interesting and to spice up the show, the makers Shashi-Sumeet Mittal is busy adding on to the cast. Recent updates state that Leena Jumani who played Ira in Zee TV's Chhoti Sin Zindagi has been roped in Punar Vivah. She will be seen playing Paridi, a radio jockey who will later get married to Gurmeet's younger brother.

Moreover, Amit Singh Thakur (currently seen in Parichay) and Papiya Dey (Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani fame) will play Kratika's loving in-laws. If all goes as per the plans then this new presentation from Shashi-Sumeet Mittal will replace Bhagonwali - Baante Apni Taqdeer, and go on air from February 6 at the 10:30 PM slot.

Hmmm...Seems Gurmeet will yet again have to fight hard as the slot given stands to be quite competitive! We are sure his fans will help him win this battle too!

Roma Bali and Ashish Kapoor in Punar Vivah!

The show on remarriage has found a receptive audience; sees two more new faces...

Shashi- Sumit Mittal's newly launched Punar Vivah has opened up with good TRPs of about 2.6 and the show seems promising with the star cast. The lead pair, Gurmeet Choudharyand Kratika Sengar, has indeed clicked with the audience.

And the latest we hear is that two new characters are on the verge of joining the bandwagon.

A source informs, "Roma Bali, last seen in Zee TV's Shobha Somnath Ki, and Ashish Kapoor ofChand Chupa Badal Mein fame, have been zeroed to essay Paridi's (Leena Jumani) parent. They would start shooting soon."

Ashish Kapoor confirmed. "I would be essaying Major Khanna in the show and is very much open minded and very friendly with the family. He is very emotional while he cannot hold back his emotions."

Roma Bali states, "For the first time I am getting out of the same old typical 'bahu' look with heavy jewelry, in fact I would essay a modern mother this time and its great working with such a nice production house. It's my first day of shoot and an amazing experience."

An anonymous person from the industry confirmed the buzz.

Let's see what these two characters bring in to the show.

Fans are very emotional people: Kratika Sengar

Ano Patel, TNN | Mar 11, 2012, 04.45PM IST

From playing a romantic to a warrior girl to playing a matured mother...Kratika Sengar has surely proved to be versatile in her five year stint in tellytown.

Starting off with a cameo in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, she found her calling in the television industry and did Kasauti Zindagii Key. She won accolades for her performance in the show Kya Dil Me Haiand then showed her action moves in Jhansi Ki Rani. Yet again, she is on the small screen doing something completely different from her last role; Kratika is currently seen opposite Gurmeet Choudhary in Punar Vivah - Zindagi Milegi Dobara.

With a few fans pleading her (on a social networking site and her fan pages) to leave the show and let Drashti Dhami play her role instead; as they would love to see Drashti and Gurmeet together on the small screen (after the show Geet... Hui Sabse Parayi), how does she react? She replies, "About my pairing with Gurmeet Choudhary, I have undergone all mock shots and look tests. Fans are very emotional people and when they have seen you with some people and they like your chemistry, they expect you to work with the same person again."

Well, looks like fans have to wait and watch for the chemistry between Kratika and Gurmeet. After all, everyone needs a fair chance!

I like the way all the characteristics about each character including the three kids is being brought out, very creative writing!  The show is still very young and it has already a TRP rating of 2.4. Just imagine once the show is in full swing it could reach #1 position. Best wishes to all the PUNAR VIVAAH team!  Keep up the good work!!!1

I like Kratika Sengar & Gurmeet Choudhary's onscreen chemistry and their actions towards each other on the serial. It was as if they are made for each other which on the first place didn't like to have another relationship after their previous partners. Hats off to them for being a versatile and great actors..👏 You can feel their emotions by just seeing their facial expressions and looking in their eyes! I love their tandem😉

Will Aarti end up telling the truth to Yash in Punar Vivah?

http://www.bolegaindia.com/gossips/Will_Aarti_end_up_telling_the_truth_to_Yash_in_Punar_Vivah-gid-14177-gc-16.html

Shashi-Sumeet Mittal production house'sPunar Vivah aired on Zee TV had initially faced loads of criticism, but thanks to the rebuttal that has come via the way of creatives, all the critics have been made to shut their chops.

The show is slowly climbing up the TRP ladders and is going all the more strong day by day. Separation track of Yash (Gurmeet Choudhary) and Aarti (Kratika Sengar) did bring in good numbers and the plot was appreciated by one and all.

As seen of late, the two are back in theScindia house and are together for a new start. Along with Yash and Aarti's life facing the ups and downs, Paridhi and Prateik are also encountering some tough moments. The Scindia family is against ladies in the house taking up jobs and the truth about Paridhi being a working girl has irked the elders in the family. Well, this is something our hero Yash will surely sort out amicably.

But the real concern is his relation with Aarti, which again has its base lying on a faux. No one is aware about the fact that Aarti is a divorcee not a widow. Now that Aarti knows of Yash's hatred for falsehood, she is in a complete dilemma thinking of a way out.

Will it be good on her part if she tells the whole truth to Yash at a stage when their relation is still to build the bond of trust and love? Let's see what Aarti decides in the end!

Audience to decide Aarti's fate in Punarvivaah

Zee TV invites audience counsel on resolving protagonist's dilemma

The unique theme of a mother-in-law striving to get her own daughter-in-law remarried after being unceremoniously dumped by her own son ensured that Zee TV's Punarvivaahstruck a chord with audiences across the country right since its launch in February. Broaching the hitherto untapped subject of remarriage and delving into the prejudices, complications and gender bias that surround the issue, Punarvivaah has made its way into the Top 10 shows across Hindi GEC's and a top-rated show on Zee TV for 3 consecutive weeks now. Taking audience involvement and interactivity to new heights, starting Tuesday, May 29, Zee TV has invited audience opinion on whether Aarti, played by actor Kratika Sengarin Punarvivaah should reveal the truth to husband Yash (Gurmeet Chaudhry) about having been a divorcee and not a widow before their re-marriage.

Kratika Says, "Any woman in Aarti's shoes would have liked to consult with her well-wishers before taking such a complex decision with far-reaching implications. I am extremely happy the channel has chosen to consult all the viewers of our show in resolving my character's dilemma and choosing the right thing to do."

After weeks of turmoil between her and in-laws Gayatri (Zahida Parvin) and Suraj Pratap (Chetan Pandit) over sending her mischievous son Ansh back to her maternal home, Aarti had left Yash's house and had begun to stay separately. It was only after Yash helped rescue Ansh from a kidnapper that Aarti began looking at Yash with renewed respect and felt he would truly benefit from having a father figure like Yash around. So, Aarti returns to Yash's house and is only beginning to reconcile differences with her in-laws when she sees Yash flare up and vent out his fury over his brother Pratik lying to the whole family. Despite several justifications proffered by Pratik, Yash comes down so heavily on his brother saying "A lie is a lie and is simply unacceptable!". This makes Aarti uneasy and she begins to question herself. Her family and she have, after all, hidden the fact from Yash that her ex-husband is still alive. She is currently dealing with the dilemma of whether to reveal the truth about being a divorcee and not a widow.. But then again, with her marriage already being on the rocks and just about beginning to stabilize, should she bring up this awkward issue and further complicate matters?

Zee TV seeks the audience's counsel on what Aarti should do. The question asked is "Should I come clean to Yash with the story of my divorce right away?" Viewers are requested to SMS "PV Y or N" on 57575 to indicate their views. Aarti's next action will be decided purely by public opinion.

Zee TV air Punarvivaah every Monday to Friday at 10:30 PM.

TV opens up to remarriage DNA 11.6.12

While the big fat telly weddings may be a big draw, remarriages are now taking centre stage in saas bahu sagas

Chaya Unnikrishan

That the small-screen saas bahus are no longer engaged only in kitchen politics is not new. Neither is the fact that the channels are featuring mature romances a la Bade Acche Lagte Hain. But what is interesting is the concept of remarriage taking centre stage in several serials.
To start with, Zee TV's Punarvivaah, as the name suggests, is about a single mother and a widower with two children giving marriage a second chance. Then there is Sony's just-launched, intriguingly-titled Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka and Color's Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, which has a widowed mother of two finding love with a commitment-phobic bachelor.
In fact, when Zee launched Punarvivaah, as part of its marketing initiative, it stoked a national debate on the issue of remarriage for divorcees and widows. Says Sukesh Motwani, fiction head, Zee, "We have tackled remarriage earlier in Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, but yes, now we have brought the concept to the forefront with kids in the picture. It is as much about the couple trying to adjust to each other as much as it is about the two sets of kids coming to terms with a new mother/father and siblings."
As for Na Bole Tum... which has a bachelor attracted to a widow with two kids, producer Sudhir Sharma says, "It is basically a love story told in a sensitive, mature way. We have progressed and remarriages are a common thing, which is why audiences find the story relatable." JD Majethia, who is producing Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka, refuses to divulge the story. All he's willing to let on is that the mother-in-law, though completely traditional in her outlook, takes a progressive call when the time comes. "It is a contemporary story that will connect with the family and the youth," he maintains.
Apart from these serials, there's Balika Vadhu that has taken a 360-degree turn. Starting with the issue of child marriage, the serial, which recently completed 1,000 episodes, had a major twist with the main protagonist Anandi procuring a divorce. And now, the ground for a remarriage is already being laid. As Prashant Bhatt, programming head fiction, Colors says, "Re-marriage is still considered a taboo in our society and it needs to be addressed through the right mechanism. With the track of Anandi's remarriage in Balika Vadhu, our attempt is to project a brave stance to life with a second chance. We hope this move triggers a positive change in conservative sections of society and brings in acceptance of remarriage."
