The sudden decision to release Saguni also on June 22 has sent the industry into a tizzy. It's after quite a while that movies of two big heroes are releasing on the same day. Producers usually avoid getting into such clashes as it affects the business of their films but it's interesting to see that this trend has changed.
What prompted the Saguni filmmakers to move their release date from July 6 to June 22 is a big question.
The Karthi-starrer is said to be releasing simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil in over 700 screens. Billa 2 and Saguni are getting censored over the next few days. While the former is a big-budget flick that's a prequel to Ajith's superhit Billa, the Karthi-starrer is said to be a political satire.
Incidentally, June 22 is also Ilayathalapathy Vijay's birthday.
