Part 5-
"Manyata!" Uday exclaims, he holds her hands tightly. "Please don't leave me again, not for the third time!" Tears start to build up in his eyes but he doesn't allow them to escape. He clearly remembers the day he had first lost her, and that flashback comes back to him. . .
It was a very stormy hay and his dad and him were making their way to the devgarh palace. His dad was in a haste because he knew his best friends was having a major family crisis. However, Uday on the other hand was very excited to see Manyata and he was planning what to play with her when he got there. But only he didn't know what had happened that morning.
The two jump out of the car; his dad taking long strides whilst the 5 year old running into the palace excited. There he starts searching for Manyata as he normally would have on a normal visit. He looks in the entrance room, no one, in Manyata's room; no one. Jay's room; no one. Then he goes into Komal's room and there he sees Komal quietly crying.
"Aunty ji, aunty ji kya hua? Why are you crying?" Uday asks her. Homal wipes away her tears and smiles at him.
"Kuch nahi beetha, just an eyelash went into my eyes, that's all," Komal lies to him. The last thing she wanted was to get Uday worried or to lose him too.
"Aunty ji, Manyata kaha hai?" the clueless boy asks her.
"Manyata. . . she's not in the palace with us right now. Uday, why don't you go to her room and play with her toys instead?" Komal replies back. Uday nods and runs into Manyata's bedroom. There he starts playing with a car he had brought with him.
Couple of minutes later, Uday overhears Brijraj talking to his dad.
"I don't get who would even do such a thing!" Exclaims Brijraj. He was furious, he had just lost his eldest daughter who was promised to be the next heir.
"Don't worry Brijraj, we will find here. And when we do, we will give that kidnapper such a punishment that no one will ever dare to kidnap a royal member again," his dad says, trying to pacify Brijraj's anger.
"Yes, he doesn't even deserve to live. I will never let him get away with this," Brijraj says much calmer now.
After hearing this, loads of thoughts start to buzz in and out of Uday's head. "Manyata got kidnapped?", "Aunty ji lied to me?", "She won't ever come back,", "I've lost my best friend?". He couldn't believe what he had heard, how could this have happened?
He then runs to his dad and starts to tug at his shirt.
"Dad, did Manyata get kidnapped?" He asks. . .
(end of flashback)
He still holds her hand tightly recalling what she had last said. Maa. What had she done now? He then looks at Manyata; her angelic face, hair, eyes, mouth and then her hands. That is when he notices that the ring was missing.
Soon everyone rushes in worried. "Uday beetha, kya hua?" Brijraj asks him. Komal and Jay walk over to Manyata.
"Uncle ji, I think that she has fainted. I came here and she had a very high temperature," Uday says.
"We should call doctor saab," Komal tells them worried. After everyone agrees to get the doctor to come in and check Manyata, Brijraj goes out of the room to make the call. Jay then decides to find out if Uday knew about what had happened earlier that day. She goes up to Uday, and awkwardly stands near him for a minute.
"I need to tell you something," Jay whispers to him. Uday nods, and they both walk to the garden where no one will be able to hear them.
"What did you want to tell me?" Uday asks.
"Well I don't know if Manyata has already told you this before but maa-" she leaves the sentence in mid air to see if Uday was listening.
"Manyata did start to say something about aunty ji but then she had passed out," Uday replies back to her hesitation.
"Oh so she didn't tell you," Jay says. After seeing him shake his head, she decides to carry on, "basically, me and jiji were having a conversations and maa had overheard what we have said about you and jiji getting engaged. Then she told jiji off and gave us a speech she usually does once in a while. I think that jiji's been worried about that."
"Oh, but does aunty ji know that I proposed?" Uday asks. He knows that their mother would never have said no to him, his family and their family were really close to each other.
"I don't think she does. She wouldn't even let us tell her that it was you who proposed," Jay replies back to him.
"That explains everything then," Uday tells Jay.
"Explains what?" Jay asks in confusion.
"Why Manyata had fainted," he replies back. Then they both head back into Manyata's bedroom. They both find doctor saab already examining her and asking Brijraj and Komal some questions.
"Doctor saab is Manyata alright now?" Brijraj asks.
"Yes she is but she will need some rest. It seems like she has fainted," Doctor saab replies back.
"Can you happen to tell us what caused her to faint?" Komal asks.
"Well it depends. Usually people faint when the heart can't pump blood to certain areas of the body," Doctor saab tells them. "Did she eat anything today?"
"No not really. She didn't touch any of her food at all," Komal tells the doctor.
"And was she outside at all? Had she happened to go back into her depression state again?" Doctor saab questions them.
"Actually I saw jiji outside on the swings for a long time, and it seemed like she was thinking about something," Jay says.
"She must have dehydrated in that case and that would have resulted to a lack of energy from not eating as well. This is probably why she had fainted, and as for the fever, the thinking must have caused it. It will be best if we all leave her to rest now, and that she takes the designated medicines. I will leave them on the table," Doctor saab tells them. One by one everyone starts to leave but Uday remains.
"Doctor saab, may I remain here and take care of Manyata?" Uday asks politely.
"Yes you can but make sure she gets enough rest if you want her to recover fast," The doctor says before leaving the room. Uday then walks towards the bed and sits on the chair which is next to her.
"Manyata, why didn't you tell me earlier?" Uday softly says. Then the minutes slowly tick pass like this. Uday waiting for Manyata to gain conscious back again. The silence which gets louder second after second. Tormenting him with everlasting loneliness. And he prays every minute that his princess will return back to him in good health, then together they will be able to solve her problems. As an hour passes like this, she slowly opens her eyes. The bright light blinds her which makes her screw her eyes and she looks around the room in pain. Then she sees Uday next to her and she opens her mouth.
"Uday," She softly says. Her soft velvet sounding like voice echoes in the atmosphere which pacifies the threatening silence. Uday's face lights up with relief from worried as he looks into her opened eyes once again.
"Manyata, finally I get to see your beautiful eyes again," Uday says clasping her hands in his ever so carefully.
"Maa. . ." She tries to carry on from where she left the last time but Uday stops him. He slowly puts his index finger on top on her lips and with his other hands he strokes her cheeks.
"Shh. . . I already know," he says. "Jay told me everything." Manyata then nods as tears escape from her eyes. Uday then carefully wipes them away. "You really scared me. I thought that I was going to lose you again," Uday says.
"I'm sorry Uday," She quietly says, but he doesn't hear.
"Don't you do that again. How many times did I tell you that you have to eat? It's for your own good," He carries on.
"Uday I wasn't hungry though," Manyata protests.
" 'Uday I wasn't hungry though'," Uday mimics. "Oh really, you weren't hungry? Look at what you've done to yourself by not eating. Manyata if something happened to you I would never forgive myself. I would have ended up killing myself," He tells her.
"I'm sorry Uday," Manyata says, louder this time. Then she looks away, but Uday gently pulls her head back to face him.
"At least you are fine now," Uday says, placing a light kiss on her cheek. Manyata slowly smiles, and Uday smiles back. Then they both entwine their fingers. "Never leave me alone again."
"I won't," Manyata promises.
