TV star Jiaa Manek talks to Ritika Arora about being in JDJ Season 5 and continuing with her role in a popular serial
Tellyland's much-loved, ideal daughter-in-law Gopi, of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, (Star Plus) will appear in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa (JDJ), Season 5. Thrilled, Jiaa Manek informs us, "I am a trained dancer. It's my passion. I was waiting for this and will give it all I have."
She hasn't begun working on her moves yet.
Twenty-five-days of the month are occupied with Saath Nibhana Saathiya.
She began her career with it. "People know me because of that. But I signed other shows too. I'll have to spare time and work really hard for them."
Rubbishing rumours about her quitting the soap, Manek stresses, "I won't be. Playing Gopi for two years has helped me evolve as an actor. Initially people didn't like the character."
Jiaa stayed out of controversies. Be it rumours of romancing co-actors, a cat fight with female co-workers, or coming late on the sets. But lately, she has been in the news for voicing her disagreement with the producer of Saath Nibhana Saathiya, over participating in the dance show.
She clarifies, "No one had problem We did have a discussion. But I convinced the producer to let me dance. I worked hard for Gopi, and won't leave the series in the middle. Besides, an actor is not bound to one show. Some work in different ones, at the same time. So I am no exception."
She is bound by certain rules with Star. "We cannot go against them. But the law doesn't say we cannot work in other shows, simultaneously." Dancing will be a break from what she does.
"No matter whether I win or not, it will be a refreshing experience." The show will be judged by Madhuri Dixit. And feature names like Sanath Jayasurya, Darsheel Safari and Ravi Kissen.
