CHAPTER 10 (ARNAV)
In my room,I was sitting on the bed,legs stretched,reading some files,trying to work.
I say "trying" because khushi was lying down next to me,her head in my lap,some book rested against my stomach that she was scribbling into.
A tiny valley had formed between her eyes...aparently,she was CONCENTRATING...
And what about my concentration?I had no idea what was there in the files,and I was supposed to have finished studying them last night...!
I was completely focused now...on her frown...her lips which were being ruthlessly bitten by her teeth...
AAAHH!!this was frustrating!!
Just then someone had knocked on the door.khushi jumped up but I pressed her back on my lap.she had struggled but I was firm enough.
"Bhai?mein hu...kya mein ander aa sakta hu?",akash asked.
I saw khushi nodding her head frantically saying NO.
But it was time for revenge...she should not have run away from me like that the other day...
She must have sensed my intentions...afterall,I wasn't being discreet about them...
I put my hand across her shoulders and collar bone and pressed her down-
"Come in!",I called out.
"Bhai,meine...",and he saw us.
Khushi dug her face into my stomach and covered it with the book,embarressed to the core...
"Bolo akash...",I asked naturally,as if there was nothing wrong with what was going on...
I saw the smirk on his face and couldn't help smiling...
"Bhai,mein badmein ata hu.",and he turned to leave.
"Ruko akash.tum kahi nahi jaoge.baitho.",I ordered.
He sat on the recliner,"bhai,shyam nahi maan raha.vo lucknow jaane ke liye tayaar hi nahi hai."
Khushi swirmed in my lap,shyly pulled the book away and looked at akash then at me,enquiring what was going on...
I had told akash to somehow send shyam to lucknow.till then we would get all the affairs into order here...but somehow the plan hadn't worked out.
Akash had told him that since my lawyer was not available,and because the lucknow deal had many loopholes,it would be good if he went and had a look at it there...
But very cleverly,he had come up with an excuse saying di would need him here...
"Hmm...",I responded after akash told me and khushi everything."Ab kaha hai vo?"
"Vo toh kabka nikal gaya office",akash informed me.
"Dekhte hai badmein...kuch karte hai...",and I left the topic there...knowing that if it continued any longer,khushi would ask for something stupid.
I pulled the book out of her hand playfully and held it high...she scrambelled to her knees and tried to reach it...
Maybe she misjudged the distance between our faces,because when she tried to reach the book,our noses almost bumped into eachother's.
Her slightly moist,brown eyes were mesmerizing.
We heard a small cough and both of us got up from our trance...
Khushi lost her balance and landed on my lap,but quickly got up.
"Jiji!!",she scrambled away from me and went to the door near payal,"hum to vo...bas...",she took the tea tray from payal's hand and kept it on the table.all the way avoiding looking at anyone.
I was having a ball of a time but akash decided to make her comfortable...the saint that he is...
"Toh bhai,aapne kya socha hai?shyam ko lucknow bhejkar kya karna hai?"
"Pehle use jaane to do!",I automatically replied.
"Hum kuch madad kare?",khushi asked.
"Khushi tumhe kitni baar kaha hai ki ye sab karne ki tumhe koi zaroorat nahi hai...",I was irritated,she didn't need to be close to shyam...it was unneccessary...
"Lekin...!"
"Bas KHUSHI!",I lost it...
"Vo humari di bhi hai!sirf aapki nahi!aur galat humare saath bhi to hua hai!!sab kaam bas aapko hi karna hai...",my lioness attacked back.
"Khushi...",my tone such that I was threatening and pleading at the same time...
She slowly came and sat next to me.she put her hand on my clenched fist which involuntarily softened at her touch and looked me in the eye.
It was crystal clear...she wasn't going to back down...
She never did...
And this was only the beginning...
