There are very few shows that leave a lasting impact on our hearts and Sapna Babul Ka.. Bidaai is one of them. The show had a beautiful story of two cousin sisters.
Their love for one another is what drew us in and kept us glued to the television screen. It was a simple story of two sisters, one fair (Sadhana played by Sara Khan) in complexion and was considered beautiful by society; the other dark in complexion (Ragini played by Parul Chauhan) and was considered ugly by society. Sadhana's mother passed away and her father went to America toearn money. She was raised by her Mama (Prakash Chand Sharma played by Alok Nath) and her Mami (Kaushalya Sharma played by Vibha Chibber). Ragini is Prakash Chand and Kaushalya's daughter. She has a brother named Vinu (played by Naveen Saini). Vinu was married to Malti (played by Ashita Gulabani). Prakash loved Sadhana as his own while Kaushalya resented having Sadhana around as people often compared Sadhana and Ragini and deemed that Sadhana was better by all standards, however, both the sisters were each others' pillars of strength. Malti was always scheming against her in laws.
What touched everyone's heart about this show was all the raw natural emotions that it portrayed. We laughed at Malti's schemes to try to keep her husband's money to herself. We cried when on Ragini's wedding day, her in laws demanded dowry otherwise they would not marry their son to Ragini. We applauded when Ragini was the one who broke off the wedding. We worried for Sadhana's future when she decided to marry a mentally unstable man (Aalekh played by Angad Hasija) for money to help her family save their house.
We were also introduced to the Rajvanch family. Inderjeet (played by Avinash Wadhavan) and Vasundhara (played by Seema Kapoor) were Aalekh and Ranvir's (played by Kinshuk Mahajan) parents. Satyendra (played by Ali Raaz Namdaar) and Ambika (played by Natasha Rana) were Inderjeet's brother and sister-in-law. Ambika was also Vasundhara elder sister.
There isn't an Indian drama that is complete without a love story and here we were blessed with two! Ranvir and Ragini's love story was not the conventional boy meets girl and falls in love story. Ragini happened to dial the wrong number and reached Ranvir. They eventually started talking to one another and fell in love, however, all was not well for them after that. They met up after they had fallen in love and by then Vasundhara had found out that Ragini was the one Ranvir loved and she disapproved of Ragini as she did not think Ragini was beautiful nor worthy of her son. Ranvir tried hard to convince her, but to no avail. It was when Aalekh, who hated his mother, came begging to her for his brother's happiness did Vasundhara relent and let the marriage take place. Then we got the Sadhana and Aalekh story. Sadhana had married Aalekh for money; however, she had grown fond of him and he of her. Sadhana helped Aalekh to recover; however, she met with so many road blocks along the way. Her sacrifices eventually paid off. They loved each other before the recovery, but fell in love after the recovery.
Bidaai had its peaks and pits as well. A leap was introduced to the show. Sadhana and Ranvir were killed off which angered many fans. Aalekh and Ragini remarried. They each had a daughter from their previous marriage. There were many fans of Bidaai after the leap as well. When Bidaai ended, it was still one of the top rated shows. It's almost been two years since the demise of Bidaai, yet there are fans that are still rallying for Bidaai to come back. Some fans want Bidaai back with its original cast and there are some other fans that want Bidaai to continue where it left off when It ended.
Will Bidaai come back? We don't know, but we can tell you this much for sure, if there was ever a show that deserved to come back due to its fans' loyalty and craze for it, it is Bidaai. Fans have not stopped writing to Star Plus and the production house. They have sent mail, called and left messages on Facebook to the producer, Rajan Shahi. Fans of the original cast of Bidaai have even opened up a magazine in its honor. We hope Rajan Shahi and Star Plus are listening to its ardent fans.
