Chapter 10

Abhay decided to stay outside Pia's house only in the night, but Rose convinced him to come inside. Abhay stayed at Pia's house throughout the night and left for his home early morning before Pia woke up.

In her sleep Pia saw the familiar figure again who was standing with face staring at the far away mountains and back towards Pia. The figure spoke:

So you saw them?

Pia: I think it was just a dream.

Figure: but so am I. Yet you still want to follow me.

Pia: What do you mean? You still seem to take me to something hidden.

Figure: And why do you think they won't be doing the same thing?

Pia: You mean to say they were real. But how is it humanly possible?

Figure: Your answer is hidden in your own questions, Pia. Remember why you came here Pia and also understand that sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction.

And the figure vanished.

Pia woke up at around 8 in the morning, with memories of last night still playing havoc with her mind. She was still confused about those weird happenings and her conversation with the figure in her dreams. Nevertheless she got ready and got downstairs and greeted her Mom. They sat down to have breakfast, and Pia casually started discussing with Rose:

Mom, you know I had a really weird dream last night. I saw Abhay fighting with some strange people who were covered head to toe in black robes and they were fighting in the air. I mean they were air borne for more than 10 minutes at a stretch. Isn't it such a weird dream?

Pia waited for a response from her mom, but when she didn't get any, she looked in her direction and found her sitting frozen with coffee pot in her hand and coffee still pouring out into an almost filled cup. She was surprised seeing Rose like this. She shook her and said: Mom, Where are you lost?

Rose came to her senses and tried to cover up and shoved another sandwich in Pia's plate and said: Pia, how many times do I have to tell you that you should not talk while having food. And here, have another sandwich.

Pia sensed that something was definitely wrong and said: Mom, is that some new rule? You always insist on all of us having breakfast together so that we can have a heart to heart talk then what got into you today? What are you trying to cover up Mom? Do you know something about my dream? Tell me was it true what I saw?

Rose tried to cover up and just joked: What rubbish? I was actually lost in my day dreams about Abhay!!! Oh how handsome he is!! Would you mind if I ask him out for a date. I know he is your class mate, but I really don't mind dating younger boys you see.

Though Pia had never really talked about her feelings for Abhay with Rose, but Rose being her mom knew how much she loved Abhay and was possessive about him. And so she knew that this way she will be able to divert Pia and she was right. No sooner had Rose said these words that Pia just shouted at her:

Mom!! How can you even think of that? There is a limit to joking ok. And even jokes about dating my class mates make me feel sick. I am going to college.

And Pia left for college in anger and Rose sighed thinking that she had averted the topic for today, but how long will she be able to keep Pia in dark.

Pia decided to walk to the college. She was too angry to drive. She knew that her mom was just joking to tease her, but even in jokes she could not tolerate anyone eyeing her Abhay. She was walking in so much anger that she did not realize that a car was fast approaching her at full speed. Abhay saw a car about to hit Pia from the top of the mountain. He rushed at his vampiric speed to save Pia and reached just in time to see that the car was about to hit Pia. But before Abhay could stop the car or pull Pia away to safety he saw the car doing a somersault in air the moment it touched the hem of Pia's skirt. Abhay saw in shock as the car flew in air and than landed some 10 feet behind Pia on its four wheels but with a bang. The cars glasses were broken by the impact and absolute shock and horror was clearly written on the driver's face. The fact that Abhay was glaring at him in anger did not help at all. Pia too was suddenly shaken by the bang and glass crashing sound and looked back to see what happened and saw Abhay glaring at the driver of a car who just took a U-turn and drove away as fast as he could without even bothering about the damage to the car leaving Abhay alone wondering at what just happened. Abhay faced Pia and asked, "Pia are you alright?"

Pia: Ya Abhay! But what just happened. I just heard a loud bang and how come all the glasses of that car shattered? And why did the driver just ran away seeing you?

Abhay: Pia didn't you realize that car was about to hit you???

Pia: What are you saying Abhay? I never noticed anything and I did not even hear any horn!

Abhay: Because the driver did not even press the horn. He wanted to kill you!

Pia: But why would he do that? I have no enemies. And how did that car then landed there and how come you are here. You were nowhere in sight.

Abhay: I was here only Pia. You did not see me in your anger. And I myself don't know what just happened.

Pia: Strange things have been happening since last night Abhay.

Abhay(suddenly coming back to present and alert): What happened last night?

Pia: Leave it Abhay. I don't even know if it was my dream or truth. Any way let's go to college.

Abhay: Ya, let's go.

Abhay and Pia reached college and saw Misha calling out everyone to reach auditorium for dance practice. Abhay and Pia moved there to practice dance. Abhay excused himself for a minute to talk to his Dad, and Pia started practicing alone. T saw her dancing alone, and thought of taking revenge from her. She took out a few marble beads from her bag and threw them in front of Pia so that she would fall. As Pia took a turn while dancing she saw the marbles. She was scared on falling on them as she was in no position to balance herself at the moment with one of her legs in the air in her dance move. But as soon as Pia's foot touched a marble, all the marbles flew in the air and one by one hit T on her head on their own accord. Pia stood there in shock gaping at what just happened. Abhay too returned to the hall and was shocked to see what was happening. It could only mean one thing. Pia's powers had triggered in. And right now they were protecting Pia from all dangers big or small on their own. He knew that now it's just a matter of a few days and Pia will know about her powers and what she is.

Meanwhile T was both shocked and scared at what was happening. She started running while screaming out: "Freak! You are a freak! What the Hell are you doing? And How? Who are you? A freak!! Someone please save me." Abhay caught her in time right outside the hall and with a blink of an eye wiped T's memories to stop her from spreading this news. He returned to the hall and saw Pia still standing there, frozen in shock at what just happened. The events of today morning were also running in her head, confusing her. A car had flown in the air and got almost shattered just as it was about to hit her, and just now the marbles thrown by T to make Pia fall had miraculously started hitting T instead just as Pia's toe had touched them. She was scared about what was happening with her and around her. Abhay reached her and gently held her by her shoulders and said:"Pia, Pia. Are you alright?" But instead of replying Pia just hugged Abhay tightly. Abhay could feel Pia shaking in fear. He tried to calm her and asked again if she was alright. But Pia replied in a trembling voice, "Abhay, what is happening? And how? Am I really a freak? How did that car got smashed when it was about to hit me and how come those marbles hit T the moment I was about to step on them?"

Abhay did not know how to respond so just said, "Relax Pia. Maybe your guardian angel is looking after you today. Don't think too much about it."

With difficulty Abhay managed to calm Pia somehow and they got busy with college work. A few days passed like this with nothing much happening.

Deep inside the jungle

Unknown 1: so her powers have started to trigger. What do we do now?

Unknown 2: Nothing for now. She won't harm us.

Unknown 3: She won't harm us now, but what about later?

The unknown boss: Even then, she won't be able to harm us. Remember who created us. We were born to rule the world when the time comes. And no one can defeat us. Not even her.

Unknown 1: But what if she joins hands with them?

The boss: Ha Ha Ha. Join hands with those who want to kill her!! Never. Even if she wants, we won't let that happen. We will create so many troubles that they will never be able to trust each other.

Unknown 2: So what do we now?

The boss: Just Sit Back and Enjoy the Show!

About a month later

Students were to leave for Greece next night. They all were really very excited. All of them were eager for college to get over so that they could rush home and do the last minute packing. Finally the day came to an end, and everybody quickly gathered their books. Abhay was least interested as he was still afraid about what awaits him in Greece. He was moving at a very slow speed when suddenly his cell phone buzzed. He picked up the phone but before he could say a word, the voice on the other hand remarked:"We have got your parents. Do As we say or we can finish them off. Come to meet us in the forest." Abhay just managed to say "I am coming" and rushed out at a speed defying even wind. Pia had seen this and was confused at what just happened and even shocked at Abhay's speed. She decided to follow him and got her Porshe out.

Following Abhay was easy for her as she has come to know him by his smell now. Though he didn't want to tell this to anyone as she herself was confused as to how this was possible, but the fact was that for last few days, Pia had come to sense a different aura and a special musk and amber smell which was distinguishable from everyone else around her. She had wondered why she could smell him out, but then her life and dreams had been too complicated for her to find any thing strange anymore. Hence she had accepted this sudden ability of hers as probably another step towards the direction of her truth. So she followed Abhay and having sensed her entering the jungle, she left her Porshe on the roadside and entered the jungle following Abhay's scent. She reached in the middle of the jungle and was shocked to see Abhay's parents tied to a tree with silver chains and they both were howling in pain. Abhay himself was surrounded by the same hooded figures Pia had seen that night when she had not been sure if it was real or a dream. She hid behind a tree and saw that the hooded figures had wooden logs in their hands and they all were pointed towards Chand and Haseena.

They warned Abhay: This is your last chance Abhay. If you don't kill her, we will kill Chand and Haseena.

Abhay: I am not afraid of you and I can protect my parents from you without killing an innocent. If you have guts, then fight with me!

The hooded figures replied "All right then" and they all began their attack on Abhay who just jumped in the air and kicked 5 of them from air before landing to the ground safely outside their battle circle. He then began fighting like a warrior with them throwing them into air with swiftness. Pia was watching all this in awe and shock. Awe because she has never seen someone fighting with such expertise and finesse outside the movies. Shock because it was clear to her that none of them could be a human considering their speed and strength as the fight had already uprooted a few trees of the forest and if they were not human, then it meant only one thing that Abhay too was not a human. While she remained standing there lost in her turmoil, those hooded figures managed to encircle Abhay again and they all had those wooden logs in their hands and were now pointing at Abhay. One of them, probably their leader spoke out, "We gave you enough chances Abhay. But now it's a matter of self-preservation. If you won't let us kill her, then we have no option left but to kill you first!"

Pia was brought out of her trance hearing these words and saw those figures attacking Abhay with the log and she screamed out: "STOP!!!!!!!!!" bringing out her arms pointing them towards those figures to make a stop sign at them. But what she had not expected was that this simple act of hers will freeze those figures in their current positions. And not just those figures, bit even the tree branches and leaves hovering over them were still in air though the wind was blowing all the other trees and leaves in the surrounding. Abhay was shocked at what just happened. He quickly took out his handkerchief and covering his hand with that, he untied Chand and Haseena and then move towards Pia who was still standing in that position with her arms outstretched as if to hold the current frozen state of those figures. It was then that Abhay noticed that Pia's nose had started bleeding and she was losing her consciousness. But before Pia could fall to the ground, Abhay quickly reached her place and caught her in his arms. He picked her up and with his vampiric speed rushed to her house asking Chand and Haseena to follow.
