The talk is about Sony Entertainment's latest serial based on a supernatural thriller slated to go on air on the 4th of this month.
Akela is a story of a man who has come out of coma after eight long years only to find his life in a complete mess. Girlfriend gone away with another man, family doesn't want to accept him back and, what's more, now his only friends are the dead.
Ranvir's life and times revolve around these ghosts who seek his help from time to time.
Sounds interesting, but it remains to be seen if the characters do justice to this type of a concept.
Sudhanshu Pandey for one is ecstatic, he knows he may have just hit the nail on the right target.
"I jumped for the role as soon as it came for me. It was something I couldn't refuse, I am sure everyone in telly town must be envying me. This is a dream role," he says.
And about his preparations, Ranvir is pretty cool regarding. "I just wanted to study the character well, after that it was pretty easy," says a confident Pandey.
As for his co-star, the pretty little Aashka Goradia isn't overwhelmed about the serial.
The reason? "It is a completely male dominated role, I play the second fiddle to Pandey and I am quite excited about the serial," she says.
For people who were yearning to see more of the age old Karna of Mahabharata fame, Pankaj Dheer makes a comeback with this unique concept. "I play a super cop in the serial, someone who suspects that there is something seriously wrong with the protagonist but cannot do anything about it. It is a role that comes once in a while and I was delighted when Fireworks contacted me," says Pankaj Dheer trying hard to suppress his emotions regarding his comeback role.
The show is slated to be on air in the prime time and that means loads of competition. Will Akela stand out amidst the other stalwarts? The director has his fingers crossed, "With Akela, we are ringing a very new concept to the television a combination of soap and supernatural element." says BP Singh. Hope this Akela stands out! |
