I guess its a test for acting skills of both!😆

Ash: check the video I posted. Mrs. B's expressions. 😆

For someone who knew zilch, Rekha speaks fluent Urdu and Hindi...no accent. I wonder what stopped Hema and Sridevi.

Hema and Sridevi never wanted to get rid of their accents so never tried hard.
I heard Mrs.Bachchan has asked the concerned ministry to clarify why the DD camera's were zoomed onto her while Rekha was taking oath 😆 Poor Mr.Bachchan kal zaroor unke ghar aur sar pe kuch bartan toh phoote hi honge 🤣

Rekha in Rajya Sabha: What upset Jaya Bachchan

Jaya has complained that the cameras in Rajya Sabha kept focussing on her when Rekha was taking oath.

New Delhi: It was an innocuous swearing-in, but it has left a few members of Parliament fuming. When veteran actress Rekha took oath in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, the government broadcaster cheekily focussed its cameras on her contemporary -- actor-turned-parliamentarian Jaya Bachchan -- for her facial reaction.

Objecting to it, four MPs -- Maya Singh, Prakash Javadekar, N.K. Singh and Naresh Agarwal -- took up the cudgels for Bachchan, sending a complaint to the Rajya Sabha secretariat on Wednesday.

Speaking to Headlines Today, Maya Singh said that the act of Rajya Sabha TV was in bad taste and almost akin to prying into the private lives of MPs.

The Rajya Sabha TV cameras had focussed on Rekha's co-star in Bollywood blockbuster Silsila while she was taking oath in the House. Apparently, it was because of the famous rivalry between Rekha and Bachchan dating to their Bollywood days.
Bachchan had earlier reportedly got her seat changed in the Upper House soon after seat allotment to Rekha as apparently she did not want to be captured on TV camera in the same frame with her. Rekha's seat was quite close to Jaya's previous place in the House.

However, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajeev Shukla tried to play down the incident saying the shooting was done by Doordarshan and not RS TV.

'Certain members raised this issue with the chairman that while she (Rekha) was being sworn in, the focus was on Jaya Bachchan. They were told that since the telecast was being done by Doordarshan, whatever visuals they showed, Rajya Sabha TV just carried those,' Shukla said.

Reacting to Bachchan's objection, Congress MP Renuka Chaudhary said, 'I have no idea why this happened... But that is her individual right to raise a complaint.'

On Rekha's first day in House, a Jaya show

Rekha, who took the oath as an MP on Tuesday, had to share the limelight with her 'Silsila' co-star after Jaya took the House by surprise and plunged into a heated debate - a first

Rekha on Tuesday brought some of the eighties' charm to the Rajya Sabha, where she took the oath as an MP. On her first day, however, she had to share the limelight with fellow member Jaya Bachchan, who caught the attention of the House by plunging into a heated discussion started by the BJP. The issue - the plight of Indian workers stranded in the southern African country of Angola. Her unexpected display of parliamentary feistiness surprised other members, who quipped that it was perhaps due to Rekha's debut.

Rekha was greeted with a thumping of desks when her name was called out. Her seat number was 99, right behind seat 91, where her "Silsila" co-star Jaya used to sit earlier. Rekha sat for part of the question hour session.

Jaya, a second-term MP from the Samajwadi Party, is known for her "active", but quiet conduct. In fact, during her first term (2004-2010), she was almost never heard in any debate. "We can expect more such fireworks from the Samajwadi MP," quipped a minister. Jaya, who arrived before Rekha, took the House by surprise when she joined BJP members in raising the issue of Indian workers in Angola. She compelled minister for overseas Indian affairs, K Vayalar Ravi, to give an assurance that he would seek details about the workers. This was perhaps the first time that Jaya, who returned to the House last month after a gap of two years, pushed herself into the parliamentary rough and tumble. Itni mehnat, eh?

Seat change? It's Jaya's Silsila: Amar
Reacting to reports that Jaya Bachchan had demanded a change in her seat in the Rajya Sabha after Rekha's nomination, Rashtriya Lokmanch Party president Amar Singh said it was her own "silsila". "I don't want to say anything on why Jaya Bachchan changed her seat. It's her own silsila, her own business, her own affair. I don't have any comment to make on it," Amar told reporters.

"Amitabh Bachchan is my friend and I have seen Rekha in his films. I congratulated her when I met her today. I don't have any personal equation with her though," he added. (Agencies)

Fellow mps not impressed?
We have seen far bigger legends, people far more glamorous - Hema Malini, Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna - in Parliament
- Balbir Punj, BJP

Fewer MPs thumped their desks when she took her oath today. More people cheered for me when I took my oath
- Najma Heptulla, BJP

She is not as beautiful as Hema Malini. She says she is 57, but somehow looks much older
- Congress MP from West Bengal
