may be my point of view is not directly related to this discussion...but i just wanna speak my heart out...that according to me, "ghar bahu" or "ghar jamai" is the same thing...i believe, one should treat both the genders equally...i'm totally against these typical son favoring indian customs...only expecting beta to be "budape ka sahara" and to live with them after marriage...what has girl's parents done wrong...haven't they loved their daughters or went through the same hardshilps to educate them...then why do only guys' families gets all life long benefits...this is the reason why families want baby boys instead of girls...this is what leads to female foeticides which was shown in Satyamev Jayate's first episode...i believe both girl and boy should live separate after marriage and be given equal rights to support their maternal families financially (depending on who earns)...this is fare to both the families, will not make anyone superior to another (lead to cut the crap like "hum ladke waale hai" sorta things) and also equally fare to the married couples (speically will help girls from making all compromises and adjustments). it's time to change our old unfair customs for good of all...(this is just my personal opinion)
