The Last Reel
The story starts out with a girl running to the terrace of a building. A guy is running behind her shouting, "Priya, ruk jao. Ruk jao Priya." She doesn't listen and jumps off of the building. The guy stands shocked on the terrace.
The girl is lying in a pool of blood. You see a camera moving towards her. It is actually a film shooting. The director, Raj (I think that's his name), congratulates the heroine on a good shot. The hero, Jai, also praises her. The heroine's name is Reena (it is a young Mandira Bedi). She gets up, changes and gets ready to leave the set. As soon as she gets near her car, her fiance, Madhu (my personal opinion - he is very UGLY, they could've picked a much better guy), comes and says Hi. She says that she is sorry that she has to go to a producer (sorry I forgot his name) in regard with another film he is planning to shoot. The fiance looks disappointed but lets her go.
In the producer's office, Reena and the producer discuss about the new movie. The movie is going to be on the life of an excellent 50s actress called Sitara. Sitara had died in an accident on the set of Sauda, an old movie which was never completed. Reena is very interested in this accident. The producer tells Reena that he was present during the whole accident as he was the assistant of Prabhakar, the director of Sauda and Reena's husband, at that time. We now go in flashback as the producer narrates the accident. Sitara is doing her scene. She argues with another character. She then goes to light a "diya". After lighting it, she throws the match carelessly on the floor. Her sari catches fire and she burns to death (it happens very quickly, in reality she could've been saved easily….it was just very fake cuz she dies in like 2 seconds). Flashback over, and Reena looks shocked when the producer tells her that the whole accident was caught on tape. Reena says that she is very interested in doing the role, but before signing the movie she would like to see all of Sitara's movies. The producer gives his approval.
Reena is shown seeing Sitara's movies. She is done seeing all of them soon. She calls the producer and says that she saw all the movies and that Sitara was a wonderful actress and that she would be honored to do the role. She also asks the producer to fix a meeting with Prabhakar so that she can get a better idea of Sitara's personal life. The producer agrees.
The next day, at Prabhakar's house, Reena, the producer and Prabhakar are talking. Reena asks Prabhakar if she can see the movie Sauda, so that she can see the accident. Prabhakar refuses at first saying that it is an unfinished movie, but later agrees when Reena says that she will see it in his house. They go to Sitara's room (at least it looks like that). There are empty vases all over the place and Reena looks at Prabhakar with a questioning look. Prabhakar explains that he loved flowers and so Sitara would put flowers all over the place. He also expands that she would also play his favorite western music on the gramophone too many-a-times. He also tells Reena that since her death, 40 years ago, there have been no flowers or music in his house.
Prabhakar is showing her the movie. He gets to the last reel. He says that he won't be able to see the accident as it is very painful for him. He puts the reel on and leaves. Reena watches the reel and when she gets to the accident, she gets scared and so turns the player off in the middle of the accident. Suddenly, all kinds of weird things start happening in the room. Reels start flying everywhere, cupboards start opening and closing by themselves, the disk in the gramophone starts flying in the air. Reena is very scared. All of a sudden, the player starts playing, but this time it is playing backwards. Reena suddenly gets very scared and screams loudly and faints.
On the other hand, Prabhakar is drinking outside. A car pulls up. The producer and Madhu get out of the car. They suddenly hear Reena's scream. They run inside to find a fainted Reena on the floor. The producer and Madhu take her home. Prabhakar comes back into the room and finds it decorated with flowers and his favorite music playing on the gramophone. He is very confused.
Reena wakes up in her bed. A doctor, Jai, the producer, Madhu, and Raj – the director surround her. She looks confused. When asked how she is, she says she is fine (she is talking weirdly, like calling herself 'hum' instead of 'main'.) She shouts at them all to leave. Everyone gets confused and the doctor eventually says to let her rest. Everyone starts to leave. Madhu stays behind and starts to touch Reena's arm in concern asking her how she is feeling. Reena gets really mad and tells him to stay away. She does not recognize him and asks him who he is. Everyone is shocked. She shouts again, telling them to leave. They finally listen and leave her alone. She locks the door and starts looking around in amazement. She then walks to the mirror and touches her face, as if to see if its really there. She sits in front of the mirror. Suddenly you see Sitara in the mirror. The real Reena gets scared and Sitara laughs madly. Reena starts to run but Sitara just laughs and tells her there is no escaping. Reena screams and Sitara goes back in Reena's body. The producer comes running. He asks her what the matter is. He asks him why she screamed and she says that she didn't. She then sees all the VHS videos in the room and asks the producer what is in the box. The producer looks at her weirdly and tells her that those are all of Sitara's movies, the same ones that she asked for. Reena asks him how to play those and he tells her with a weird look on his face.
Next day, Reena goes to the shooting of her film (the one in which she did the suicide scene). She refuses to wear a skirt. She is wearing a green sari and says that she is going to do the shooting in that. The director is mad but listens to her once she starts throwing a fuss. Jai comes and the director tells them both to go and rehearse the scene as the set is set-up. Jai and Reena go. A guy is explaining the positions and stuff to them. There is a lot of noise and Reena suddenly shouts at everyone, telling them to shut-up. Jai asks everyone to leave. Everyone leaves and they start practicing the scene. During the scene Jai has to light a match. When he does that, Reena starts shouting and gets away from Jai. She then tells Jai to put out the match. Jai doesn't and you soon see Sitara's aatma come out of Reena but Jai can't see Sitara's aatma. Reena then starts shouting for help and tells Jai that Sitara is controlling her. The match burns out and Sitara comes back in Reena's body. The whole crew comes running at this point. The director looks at Reena and asks her why she creamed. Jai then asks her what she meant when she said that Sitara was controlling her. Reena just tells him to stop talking nonsense. And she leaves saying that she is tired and doesn't want to shoot anymore, the director is quick to point out that she hasn't shot a single scene. She just ignores him and tells him that she will not do a single scene with fire in it.
At Prabhakar's house, he hears music coming out of Reena's room. He goes in there and sees Reena sitting there dressed-up like Sitara. He is mad and tells her to leave and stop doing this nonsense. She tells him that she is Sitara in Reena's body. Prabhakar quickly understands what happened. He tells Sitara to leave Reena's body but she doesn't listen to him and leaves.
At the producer's office, everyone is talking about Reena's weird behavior. Prabhakar comes in and tells them that Sitara's aatma is in Reena's body. No one believes him at first, but he tells them that she told him that herself. They listen to him. Prabhakar now tells them that they should take her to a hypnotist so that they can be sure about this, but he reminds them it will be hard as she will not agree to this. The producer tells him that she will if she thinks it is a scene in the movie.
Everyone is at the hypnotist's office. They hypnotize Reena and she falls asleep. All of a sudden she gets up and tells then that the real Reena is awake but Sitara is asleep. She proceeds to tell them as to how Sitara had come out of the last reel and had entered her body and how she had taken control of her. She asks for help. Everyone is shocked. She then starts yelling that Sitara is waking up. Suddenly there is a strong wind (in a closed room…won't Einstein be stumped!!!!). Sitara awakens and she is mad at everyone. She leaves in a mad fit.
Next day, Prabhakar goes to Reena's house. Reena lets him in. He is carrying the last reel and something wrapped in newspaper and a lighter. He puts the reel on the table. He tells Reena (AKA Sitara) that he loves her and that he has missed her. Reena is very happy. She says that everything will be normal now. Prabhakar suddenly says that he is sorry. Reena is very confused. He suddenly takes out a fire torch out of the newspaper wrapping and lights it. Reena is scared and tells him to put it off. He just continues saying sorry and that he has no other choice. Reena runs out of the room running, Prabhakar follows with the torch. Reena starts to run towards the door but the producer comes out of it carrying another torch. She runs in the opposite direction to another door, but the director, comes out of it carrying yet another torch. They now have her cornered. Reena screams. Suddenly Sitara's aatma comes out of Reena's body and this time everyone can see her. Reena's body falls to the floor. Madhu and Jai come running in. They take Reena's body with them. Prabhakar now burns the last reel. By this time, Reena is awake. Everyone is goes to see her. When they get back to the other room, Prabhakar is dead. The producer says, "Prabhakar ne vaada kiya that ki who hamesha Sitara ke saath rahega. Ab woh asli main Sitara ke saath rahega hamesha ke liye."
THE END!
The show was pretty good. It was an old Aahat episode cuz i remeber seeing it when I was very very young. Mandira Bedi acted well and even Sitara (whoever she was) acted well. the Madhu guys was very ygly though (no offense meant to anyone). Hope you enjoyed. And please REVIEW.
