Tona
Intro: This story revolves around a family of two brothers. The older brother's name is Jaidev (not sure about the name) and his wife's name is Mahi. The younger brother's name is Sukhdev and his wife's name is Gauri. Gauri and Sukhdev have a son named Birju. On the other hand, Mahi is barren.
It starts in the village. The cops are everywhere and a lone female reporter is taking pictures. There are 5 dead bodies found at different places in the village. Nobody is telling the reporter what happened. One of the inspectors just says, "not everybody is as educated as you, the village folk believe in Tona." The reporter is baffled. She walks to the nearby pond and starts washing her face in the pond (and the pond water is disgustingly dirty). A woman comes to fill a pot with water. Her head is covered in her sari. The reporter asks her what happened the other night in the village. The mystery woman says, "Gav-walon ne usko maar dala." The reporter asks her to tell the whole story. The woman agrees. The reporter makes a show of taking out a recorder to record whatever she is saying.
Her story starts on a dark, thundery night. Birju is very sick and has stopped breathing. Mahi is in favor of taking him to the doctor in the next village whereas Gauri wants to take him to the "maharaj" in their village. They go to the maharaj and he does some mantras and is trying to save Birju's life. On the other hand, Jaidev and Sukhdev are talking to Lalan and the thakur of the town. The thakur wants to buy their land as it is in between Lalan and his land. The brothers refuse and Sukhdev threatens Lalan. Lalan tells the thakur to leave everything to him and not to worry about the land. Now they show us that Birju has died.
The funeral rites are taking place the next day. Gauri and Mahi are crying. The maharaj comes followed by Lalan and the thakur. Gauri starts blaming the maharaj for Birju's death. Jaidev gets scared and takes her inside the house. The maharaj is shown very angry. He goes to his home. Lalan and the thakur congratulate him on his first victory.
Next day, Mahi and Gauri are out in the forest collecting firewood. Mahi tells Gauri to take one bundle inside while she brings another one. She is collecting more wood when the maharaj sees her from behind a tree. He sits under the tree and starts praying. Mahi starts choking. Someone is strangling her. She picks up a sickle lying on the ground near her and hits her invisible attacker. You see a wound on the maharaj's chest. Mahi runs home and tells her husband. Jaidev is skeptical and tells her this is what you get by going against the maharaj and tells her to sit at home and let him do the work.
It is night and everyone is sleeping. The maharaj is digging a big hole in the ground (I am not sure what it is). After some time, you see Birju standing in the doorway to his house. Gauri sees him and starts following him in the dark. Birju leads her to the maharaj's house. The maharaj tells him that your son is not dead and wants to come back. Gauri asks then why he isn't back. The maharaj tells him that Birju isn't coming back because his killer is your house. He tells Gauri that it is Jaidev because he is jealous that you had a child when he could never become a father. Gauri asks him how that can be remedied. The maharaj gives her a huge nail and tells her to go and hammer it in his house. She does so and Jaidev dies. In the morning, Mahi is in a white sari and tells Sukhdev that this is the work of the maharaj and shows him the nail (the one while Gauri had put in). Gauri tells Mahi not to blame other people. Now Lalan is shown telling the village people that Mahi is a witch. She killed Birju as well as her husband. Sukhdev hears him and threatens him to stop instigating the village people.
That night, Gauri again returns to the maharaj's house. He gives her a "pudiya" to put in Sukhdev's tea. Gauri agrees. At home, she makes the tea and put the stuff in it. Sukhdev drinks it and dies. Gauri is shown with an evil smile on her face. At that moment, Mahi is shown entering the house. Mahi is standing behind the door with an axe. She hits Mahi and Mahi is shocked. A struggle ensues. Finally, Mahi kills Gauri. Mahi is shocked at her action.
The village people, led by maharaj, Lalan, and the thakur, are shown hunting for Mahi to kill her. Mahi runs. The village people run after her. She reaches the forest and hides behind a tree. The village people break up into groups to look for her. The maharaj, Lalan and the thakur find her and kill her.
The maharaj, Lalan and thakur are celebrating at the maharaj's place. They suddenly see a silhouette in the night. They all get scared. It is Mahi's ghost come back for revenge. She kills Lalan and the thakur. The maharaj runs to Mahi's one house. Mahi follows ruthlessly. She kills him too.
That is the end of the mystery woman's story. The reporter asks for a picture and the woman agrees. The reporter is about to leave and checks her recorded, there is no tape in it anymore. The reporter is very confused but leaves nevertheless. A strong gust of wind blows the cover off of the mystery woman's head. The mystery woman is none other than Mahi.
