"Hey, good morning" he waved at her from the kitchen. She smiled and looked on.
"The breakfast is read, I made some muffins and macaroni, take your seat" he signaled her towards the dining table.
She reluctantly went downstairs, and took a seat. Her head was hurting coz of the hangover but she didn't want to tell him, it was embarrassing of course.
He stood beside her, holding a glass of water in one hand and a tablet in the other. "You must be having a bad headache"he moved his head forward, asking her to take the medicine. She avoided the eye contact and gulped the medicine.
He served the breakfast for both. "I think I should leave." she started to get up.
"Sit down Khushi!" he sternly demanded.
She didn't listen to him. He held her hand and made her sit. "I said sit down and finish your breakfast, now!" he glared at her.
She was scared of the coldness in his expression, she didn't feel like arguing further. She stuffed the muffins as quick as possible, coz she wanted to escape the situation.
"What were you trying to do last night?" he finally broke the silence. She shut her eyes, expecting this coming.
:What made you do this? What is the pain your hiding inside you?" he continued.
"Arnav, don't ask me why, I can't tell you, coz I know I will break down" she shook her head and stood up to leave.
Arnav was hurt, she didn't find him worthy enough to share her pain with. He still gathered himself and offered to drop her home.
"Its ok Arnav, I'll manage" she stammered.
"Arnav sat in the car and waited for her. She tentatively took a seat beside him/ She kept staring at him all through the way while he didn't even threw a glance at her, not even for a mili second.
"Arnav, am..." she struggled with words, and he halted the car. She looked around confused and realized her home was here. She got out of the car and looked at him through the window. "See you in the.." before she could complete, he was gone.
___
She walked in only to face La's unending list of questions."Where were you K? You know how annoying it is when you are away for the whole night and I'm left worried.? Tell me where were you last night? And was that Arnav? What were you doing with him? And please don't tell me you both were again stuck somewhere" she yelled in annoyance.
"I was with him last night, in his flat" Khushi blankly stared at the floor.
"What?" La gave a horrified glare.
"I was drunk and then I ended up at his place. Don't worry, nothing happened" she shook her head.
"You were drunk and you say nothing happened?" she frowned at Khushi.
"Yes, I was drunk and still nothing happened, coz Arnav is different from the rest of the bozos of the world" she raised her pitch and glared at La.
"Ok! Am sorry!" La looked at her confused.. Khushi shut her eyes and sighed. "Am sorry La!" She hugged her tightly.
"Heyy K, what happened! Are you alright?" La cupped her face.
"I just don't wanna talk about it now, please" she sniffed back her tear, while La nodded.
____
"Hey NK!" La greeted him with a smile.
"Hey ladies!" NK grinned back.
"Hey Arnav" Khushi slightly smiled.
"Hey" he didn't look at her and walked away while Khushi followed.
"What's wrong with these two?" NK raised an eyebrow.
"Probably they're bluffing us again" La shrugged and left.
____
"Arnav.." She called out to him making him stop.
"Thank you!" she came forward smiling.
"For what?" he blankly looked at her.
"For whatever you did" she played with her fingers.
"You're welcome" he nodded and looked away.
"Anything else" he waited for some time before asking.
"Um, you cook really good, where did you pick such good culinary skills from" she randomly asked, just to continue the conversation.
"I don't remember" he slid his hand in the pocket and started walking away.
"Why are you doing this?" she finally couldn't take it anymore. She had to get things back to normal.
He stopped and sighed, looking at her over his shoulder.
"Why are you giving me a cold shoulder? Why are you being so rude? Why Arnav?" she stood in front of him now.
"That's not true Arnav" she choked, feeling a lump in her throat, her eyes moistened.
"Then what is true Khushi?" he yelled at her.
"You are a very special friend Arnav" she blinked her tears.
"Yeah right!" he rolled his eyes.
"Last night, when I was walking on the streets, I felt like a loner, I wanted to be with someone who could make me feel wanted, who could make me forget my pain, who could bring a smile on my face with ease, who could make me feel alive and I could only think of you to be that person. Do you really think I am that crazy to climb up the pipe and sneak into your room just because I was high on Alcohol? I did that because I wanted to be with you and you say I don't find you worthy enough?" she poked her index finger in his chest, while he looked on with moist eyes.
