Chapter 4

(M POV)

The doorbell rings, and I open the door to find Uday here early.

"Hi, you're early," I say. He smiles, and enters my apartment.

"I thought that you might want a helping hand," he tells me.

"Thanks," I reply back. Tonight everyone was to come over to my house for the movie night, and I hadn't tidied anything up yet. "You move all the rubbish and I hoover alright?" I order.

"Alright," Uday says, and we get on with our job.

Once we're done with tidying, everyone starts to come around. Me and Uday greet the others, and then we all head our way to the living.

"Movie time!" Rahul exclaims.

"Yes sweety, now don't get too over excited," Jay says.

"I won't darling," Rahul tells her in his lovey dovey voice.

"You guys done yet with your conversation?" Uday asks. Rahul nods and Jay shots him the evils. Uday then laughs.

"Guys stop it. Anyways, where's Unniti?" I ask them.

"I'm not sure Princess. Maybe she's running a bit late," Uday tells me.

"Then shall we choose the movie whilst we're waiting?" Jay asks.

"Okay but it has to be a horror film though," Rahul says. We all burst out laughing.

"A guy who is afraid of spiders wants to see a horror film? Wow we have to see this," I say, and everyone agrees with me.

"Why don't we watch an adventure/action film instead? Then we will be able to see how Rahu racts to blood," Uday says.

"Alright, why not?" Rahul says, and I nod slowly. I'm not a big fan of blood.

"So what movie do you have in mind Uday?" Jay asks.

"The hunger games," Uday says, showing us the DVD cover. Then the doorbell rings, and Jay goes to open the door.

"So what's the hunger games about?" I ask.

"I'm not gonna tell you anything, you'll have to watch every single bit," Uday says.

"I'm up for it," Rahul says, and I'm really surprised that he wants to see it, because I don't really want to watch it now that I know it involves blood. Jay then comes in with Unniti behind her.

"Hey," Unnoto says.

"Hi, we were waiting for you," I say, smiling to her.

"Yup, and we're gonna watch the hunger games," Rahul adds.

"Great," Jay sarcastically says. We all settle down on the sofas with popcorn. Rahul insisted to turn the lights off to create a more of a "cinema" atmosphere. We all quiety watch the movie unfold; the reaping day, Katniss volunteering for her sister's place, the train journey, the training, and then them entering the arena.

"Here onwards are the best bits," Uday tells Rahul, and he nods. We watch Katniss bowing up the Career's food stock, and then we watch her waiting for Rue.

"I have a feeling something is gonna happen to Rue," I whisper to Uday. He puts an arm around my shoulders, and doesn't reply back. We watch Katniss run to Rue when she hears a scream, but it was too late. A boy had attracted Rue. I immediately hide my face in Uday's shirt and he strokes my hair.

"Don't worry Manu, it's not a real life," he says, but something about that girl reminds me of my mother. Also Katniss had allied with her, and I wasn't excepting her to die this way. After Katniss stops singing, I look around the room. Everyone seemed to be so into the film, especially Rahul.

"I'm just gonna go and get myself some juice. Does anyone want me to get anything for them?" I ask, making an excuse to not watch the film. They all shake their heads, and I slowly walk towards the kitchen. I get some apple juice out of the fridge and pour it in a cup. I hear footsteps which are coming towards the kitchen but I don't react. A hand touches my shoulder and I know who it is.

"Uday?" I ask, turning around.

"Were you too frightened off by the film?" Uday asks.

"Well, it's just Rue's death reminds me of how my mother had died," I sigh. Uday then pulls me into a hug and I explain to him what had happened. How my mother had cheated on my father and how he got angry and shot her.

"Princess what's happened in the past can't be changed. You should forgive your father," Uday tells me.

"But I can't, I couldn't believe that he had actually done that," I whisper. Uday kisses my forehead, and then let's me out of his embrace.

"Shall we go back in then?" Uday asks me, and I nod. We walk hand in hand into the living room, but no one notices because everyone is still so into the movie.

"Guys it's getting boring now, can we stop watching it?" Uday says.

"But dada, it just got onto the good part," Unniti says.

"I'm finding it boring too," I say, supporting Uday. We both look around to see if anyone else agrees with us.

"Me too, this movie isn't so good," Jay says. She looks somewhat sick, must have been from watching all those people die.

"Nooo! I still wanna watch it, it's so interesting," Rahul says, and then he hushes us because we're making too much noise.

"Look, it's 3 against 2 so that means we win," Uday says switching the TV off.

"You can't do that!" Rahul says.

"Yes he can," I say to him.

"No he can't" Rahul carries on.

"Look Rahul, I'll lend you the DVD, you can watch it at home," Uday tells him.

"Alright," he replies back, defeated. "But what are we gonna do now?"

"How about a game of Truth or Dare?" Jay asks.

"Yeah, I haven't played that game in ages," I say. Everyone else agrees with us, and we all sit on the carpet.

"Okay this is how it's gonna work. We spin the bottle, and whoever it lands on has to either choose truth or dare. They must answer or do whatever is said. Alright?" Jay explains, and everyone nods in agreement. Jay spins the bottle and it lands on Rahul. "Alright, truth or dare?"

"Dare, of course," Rahul says. We all move into a circle, excluding Rahul out so that he can' hear.

"I have the perfect one for him," Unniti says. We all encourage her to tell us what she has in mind. After she whispers it to us, we go back to our original places.

"Okay Rahul, your dare is to clean the back of the television," Unniti says.

"That's easy!" Rahul exclaims, we hand him a pair of gloves. He puts them on and walks towards the television.

"Oh my…" he says, and we laugh.

"Go on Rahul, what are you waiting for?" Jay says. We all know that Rahul had spotted a couple of spiders.

"But there-there's spiders there," He stammers.

"Are you too chicken Rahul?" Uday jokes. This somewhat gets to him, and he takes another step closer towards the cobwebs. He first makes a when his hands touch the cobwebs but then he closes his eyes and gets rid of them all. Then he rushes off towards the kitchen.

"Poor guy, he really is scared of spiders," I say. Rahul then returns, and sits back in his place.

"Okay, I'm spinning the bottle now," Rahul says. He spins it, and this time it lands on Jay. "Truth or Dare sweety?"

"Truth please," Jay says. We all go back into a smaller circle excluding out Jay this time.

"I've got something," I tell them. They all nod, and we go back into our original places.

"How did you meet Rahul, and explain everything," I say to her.

"Hmmm… this was quite a while ago, about 6 months back, I had entered myself in the talent concert in college. I was going to sing but I needed someone to play my music piece, and I heard Rahul practise playing his guitar. So I went up to him one day, and we started tto rehearse at his home," Jay tells us.

"Aww, so sweet," Unniti says. Unniti then spins the bottle and it lands on Uday. "Truth or dare dada?"

"Dare choti," Uday says. We go back into the circle and this time Rahul has an idea.

"Okay I dare you to… kiss Manyata!" Rahul exclaims. I get really shocked because this wasn't what he told us earlier.

"What! You can't dare that!" I say.

"Yes exactly what she said," Uday agrees with me.

"Remember, I said you have to do what is said," Jay reminds us.

"But that's not fair," I say.

"There wasn't any rules against it," Jay replies back.

"Do you guys want me to repeat the dare again?" Rahul asks. After a long awkward silence, he repeats it again. "Uday, I dare you to kiss Manyata,"
