Chapter 9

His dream had shaken him completely. A few hours back, he was fearing that his love will not trust him, but now he was in danger of losing that very love forever because of his own people. No, he can't let that happen. He rushed downstairs to discuss this with his parents.

Chand and Haseena were still pondering about past and future when Abhay came and addressed them in despair:

Mom, Dad, they want to kill her. Please help me. I want to save her. I cannot lose her.

Chand: Who are you talking about son?

Abhay: Pia! Dad they want to kill her before she turns 18 and gains her powers. But what is her fault? I cannot let that happen.

Chand: Abhay, don't forget that witches and vampires have been born enemies. It's in our nature to kill each other.

Abhay: but why Dad? Will someone ever care to explain me who made this stupid law and why?

Chand: I don't know son, but all I know is that we were created to fight the witches.

Abhay: That's idiotic Dad! I don't know what happened centuries ago which led to our creation to fight the witches, but whatever happened, happened ages ago. Then why are we still fighting? And will this fight ever end? And why to kill an innocent just because she is born in our enemy clan?

Chand: Abhay you know that our superiors have been maintaining a defensive rather than offensive stance for ages now. If they are planning to attack all of a sudden then there must be some really strong reason behind it.

Abhay: I don't care for their reasons Dad, but I won't let anyone harm Pia.

Saying this Abhay left for Pia's house.

The evening was drawing to a close, engulfing the city in the blanket of dark night which hid many secrets in its bosom. This was the time for all creatures of the night to start gearing up for action. And so were a group of dark hooded figures who were preparing to take life of a potential enemy before she could become a threat to their existence. They reached her house, but were surprised to see Abhay standing there blocking their way. He refused to let them proceed further and a fight ensued between them. Abhay alone was proving to be more than enough for five of them. He was a trained fighter. Because of his duty call he had been trained to fight the super naturals even as a human and his vampire existence had only intensified his strength and practice of fighting creatures of the dark. Though he himself was a creature of the dark, but he had never truly forgotten his humane side and had always desired to change the evil forces towards good side. It has been because of his efforts and his strength against their arch enemies – the werewolves, that the vampires had agreed to change their ways and lead a peaceful life of hunting only animals and maintaining a defensive front towards other super natural creatures. They had been living a life of live and let live, but suddenly this seemed to be changing. Tonight they wanted to make an exception to this lifestyle and kill their potential enemy even before she could actually become a threat to their existence. But, needless to say, Abhay was not ready to let them do this.

Abhay: Why are you suddenly changing your stance and attacking an innocent human?

The vampires: She is not any innocent human. She is going to be the most powerful witch in three months. If we don't kill her now, she will wipe out our existence when she gains powers.

Abhay: Who among you has the ability to predict future that you know for sure that she is going to be our enemy?? The last I heard, all we could do was to gauge the potential powers of a super natural. Then what made you conclude that she is going to kill us all?

The vampires: Because she is born to do this. Witches are born to kill the vampires and she is going to be the strongest witch ever after her original ancestor.

Abhay: Wasn't it the other way round? I thought we vampires were created to finish the witches and not they to kill us. It was the werewolves who were created to kill us. Then why kill her?

The vampires: But werewolves are sure to bow down to her command to finish us off.

Abhay: Again, that is only if she does command them to kill us. But what if that does not happen?

The vampires: We can't just wait and watch for that day to come Abhay. She is going to be invincible once she gains her powers. We won't be able to fight her then. We have got to finish her off now.

Abhay: No!! No way am I going to let you kill an innocent just because of your insecurity about the unknown future.

The vampires: We know that it's your love for her which is speaking like this, but you need to understand that the day she comes to know about your truth, she is going to hate you and kill you.

Abhay flinched at these words as he himself had been fearing the same thing, but he was not going to use this as an excuse to let them kill her and so he shouted out: We will see about that when the time comes. Who knows maybe she will still love me and understand the situation. Since she is all set to get powers directly from the original, maybe she will also get her sensibility and compassion and understand me and us. And so, it would be better for you all to retreat now, unless you want to fight me.

The vampires had no desire to face Abhay. They knew that he was the strongest among them. They retreated reluctantly and Abhay breathed a sigh of relief. But unknown to anyone of them someone was watching all this action through the window of her room. And what she witnessed was too shocking and unbelievable for her. No human could fight the way Abhay was fighting with those people. And who were those people. From their speed and actions none of them seemed to be humans to her. What were they or was she having a nightmare. Of course it had to be a weird dream, else how can anyone fly 30 feet in the air for a kick and stay there for 5 minutes. That happens only in movies, not in real life. And who wears such long and heavy robes in this hot weather. No, that has to be a dream, a very horrible dream. But then why was ne not waking up from this dream. Why could she still see those figures retreating back in the jungle and Abhay still standing there on his guard? She was confused about everything. Why would there be a fight in the first place right outside her house? She just decided to go to bed and brush this off as a dream. Because this obviously could not be possible! She closed her window and moved to lie on her bed and fell asleep.

Making sure that Pia was fast asleep in her bed, Rose moved out of the house to meet Abhay who was still standing outside the house guarding it to make sure that the vampires do not return back. Sensing Rose behind him, Abhay turned to face her and saw a much worried and scared looking Rose approaching her. She was shivering in fear and was about to fall down when Abhay held her for support. Shaking in fear Rose spoke out: Thanks Abhay! Thanks for saving Pia! I have been fearing this for so long. Why was my daughter the chosen one? But how long will I be able to save her from her destiny?

Abhay: You don't have to worry. I would never let anything happen to Pia ever. She is my life.

Rose: But what if she changes Abhay? What if she does not accept you after knowing your truth and becomes your enemy after knowing her own truth?

Abhay: Even then. I would happily give this cursed life to save her even if she hates me. But I won't let any harm touch her till I exist in this world.

Rose: you love her so much Abhay! Though your love is against the laws of our world!

Abhay: I know but I think it's time that we change those century old laws. They have no place in today's life where no one even remembers why those laws were laid down in the first place.

Rose: No Abhay, as far as I was told, there was a reason for everything and it all began centuries ago with our original ancestor… I know that vampires were created to finish us witches off by someone who had a grudge against her.

Abhay: But who was that and what grudge was there which made him create such monsters like us?

Rose: I don't know all that Abhay. But I feel that all these answers are still hidden in the heart of Greece – the land where it all began centuries ago.

abhay saved pia...but for how long he'll be able to do that...there are so many people after her...will pia accept him after knowing his truth...plz dont separate them n make her accept him
