I think showing the faces of the culprits might cause controversies...and I don't think that the show makers can do that without getting permission from the culprits.
Plus, this would just take the viewers' focus from the real issue... The thing they want to project in the show is femal foeticide as a whole and what can we do to thwart the issue... And that is why unnecessary focus was put on those few culprits...

If case is in court you cant talk abt the people involved ...

the show definitely is outstanding!
n as per my view is incomparable to other shows...
it has it's own uniqueness

the problem is discussed in detail... solutions are provided... and action too is taken...

that's a lot from a show...

after that it's on us... how v think of the problem... what v do about it... how v work towards changing it...

as an Indian... wanting a better india... v all shud get involved!
not just leave it on the show... "oh there SJ did an epi on female infanticide... they will change india"... n no action from u, wud do nothing! the show is there to spark the fire in u... n then it's on u if u ignite it more or douse it!

as for showing the face of the accused... I agree the show isn't abt boycotting them... punishing them...

the show is about uprooting the evil not just cutting the branches!

@Topic starter

The show is unlike Zindagi Live, because it even showed the entire background on the issue. ZL only has people chatting with the host. They don't explore the history or spread of the issue. They don't show all the data, stats etc. Nor do they show other experts like doctors, lawyers or any concerned panelists who work on the issue.

Zindagi Live is more personal. Satyamev Jayate is more wholesome. Chat with victims is just one of the facets of this show, whereas it is mainstay of Zindagi Live.

Plus this show gives a guide to take action, and is also raising funds for social causes and NGOs by inviting donations, giving away money through SMS and online clicks on Satyamev Jayate website.

The fundraising and sheer reach is something which no existing show has! Zindagi Live or We The People aren't shown in 100 countries in 8 different languages. They don't raise funds for NGOs. They just talk and leave it there.

i am not so impressed with the show. It seemed very rehearsed and automated from Victim's point. I am sure they could have come up with more stories apart from so chewed up. great topic though.

@cimba

So you want the show from perpetrator's POV kya?😛 If not from victims' POV! And do you think the victims' even own injured photos were ''automated'' or made up?

They showed a woman from lower class, middle class and upper class background each. So all strata of society and varying backgrounds of education/economic status are addressed. What else we need?

I think the Concept is more like Gandhiji's Quote: We must be the change we want to see in others.
So pointing fingers will be kind of agressive. I am moved with what I saw and how it was shown, so would not mind it.
It finally all boils down to our conscience.

I think the point of the show is to educate the masses on various critical issues. Because a lot of people actually do not realize several things:

1. Some don't know such issues even exist...kind of live a sheltered lifestyle, unaware that people are suffering out there.

2. Some don't realize that it's actually happening around them in the near vicinity of where they live.

3. Most aren't aware of the historical background these sorts of things have, like how and why they came about to be (ie, the development of ultrasound was a significant factor of female feticide)...how it's implemented (ie, use of code words so pregnant woman doesn't understand that they might abort her child)...and how it may affect the future in terms of what other social issues may emerge from it (ie, lack of brides leads to kidnapping, rape, and basically human trafficking).

4. Some may be having it happen to them and they might feel as if they are the only ones and so seeing that it's happening so extensively in their country might make them feel more able to speak out against it and garner wider support against it.

Basically, everyone needs to know what's going on and work collectively to stop it. If you don't that it's happening, it might as well be not happening.
