Abhi looked at him pensively , but did not answer immediately . He then dilly dallied for a while , talking vaguely about Sid's internship ; but soon came to the point .

Abhi ji so clever haan 😆

" Sid its Dr Nikita .I am worried she may want to quit the hospital and I don't want .. you know the interns , you guys to be left hanging without an able supervisor.. So could you in your way find out ... her intentions. But of course its confidential so don't discuss with any one , not the other interns too. How is she behaving nowadays? You find her to be different , ummm you know sad or unhappy ?"

How Sid wished he could tease his brother with some twisty questions; but this was not the occasion. For now he had to know what was going on .

Bhai was worried that Dr Nikita might leave and that explained his sullen mood for the last few days .

Sid plz tease him plzzz

"Me? I am fine . But , but ... Well , to tell you the truth , I am very much worried about my brother."

He was successful in getting her attention even better than he had expected as her face caught up in tension on hearing his words.

"Abhi ? What happened to him ?

Is he OK ? Sid , you should take care of your brother . You know he is all alone otherwise with no one to look after him."

He hadn't missed out how she had called him "Abhi" . But he did not show any sign of noticing her discomfort and went on in his own vein.

"Yes yes ... I know Dr Nikita .And I keep telling him that he needs to find someone who takes care of him , but he seems to not be over some girl he used to like some time back .

He is well but he seems very worried since past few days ..totally stressed out , thinking of just her . God , he misses her a lot."

Nikki looked up at him suddenly , a curious combination of expressions on her face . Abhi missing a girl he used to like sometime back. She felt herself go cold with that information . Who was that girl and how long had she been a part of his life . She fidgeted with her stethoscope and refused to look at Sid . Suddenly she was feeling restless and uneasy.

Sid watched the expressions on her face , loved the play of emotions on it . This was turning out to be so entertaining...teasing his brother and teasing Dr Nikita and then watching the various expressions fly across their faces.

The minute he was out of her cabin , he heartily enjoyed some healthy laughter and amusement at this anokha couple's expense. They so deserved each other ! He thought he should go to his brother and let him know ; but then he decided against it . He was beginning to enjoy his brother's discomfort now .

Abhi looked at her thoroughly amused . As she went on ranting about how he had caused her so much inconvenience , he saw some of his own annoyance disappearing . It was after all a very different setting . Nikki and he caught inside one room . Well , at least as long as they were stuck up there , she could not go out of Sanjeevani . He saw a smile come up on his lips which she soon caught .She stopped talking abruptly .

Abhi naughty

"Why are you smiling ? Its not funny . I have a bag load of work to finish and then I need to get home early ." , she said accusingly and then closed her eyes in frustration .

Abhi looked at her as if in a daze . She was right . It wasn't funny . He had a bag load of work pending too and what was he even thinking getting inside the lab just because she stood there . Since when did he get so bizarrely impulsive ? He would never know . The sight of her , dressed in that blue green salwar suit , her lovely hair spread all round her face and shoulders , her eyes closed and lips pursed , seemed to mess up his already messed up mind even more . He walked up to her with slow and deliberate steps . He could see the expressions on her face alter as the distance between them reduced . And when he stopped just two steps away from her , her eyes opened with a start .

"What are you doing ?" , she asked uncomfortably , even as her senses gave into his closeness .

He took another step towards her causing her to a take a step backward . He took one step towards her and she took one step back . This went on till she finally reached a dead-end by hitting the wall . All the while their eyes were glued to each other and Abhi saw his confusion give away to some strange awareness. There was immense softness in her eyes and he realized how much he was beginning to like it . He delicately grazed his fingers against her cheek marveling at how soft they were . She shivered at every motion his fingers produced , struggling hard to keep her eyes open .

"Nikki " , he called out her name softly and she looked up into his eyes , fully aware of the undisguised passion in them and of the realization that he had called her Nikki .

"Nikki" , he called her name again and gently caressed the outline of her lips . God ! she was beautiful with the most perfectly placed features . Those bee stung lips , how many times had he seen them in his dreams , how many times had he dreamt of kissing ... He abruptly let go off his fingers as he realized where his thoughts were headed . He looked at her again , this time there was more desperation in that gaze as if he was pleading to her to understand his confusion , his indecision . And then he was sure he saw assurance in those eyes . He smiled slyly and the next second , bent down and placed his lips on hers .

Nikki was too stunned to respond , even as he gradually began to deepen the kiss which had started off as a light peck . But , as she saw the complete picture getting clearer , him entering the lab and seeming so undisturbed by the fact that they were caught up in the room , him walking towards her and then all that passion in his eyes . Could it be possible that he was upset and worried because he was thinking of her and was still not over her ? She was the girl he liked and still missed . The thought delighted her. If only he would ask her , she would tell him that she was never going to be able to run away from him. But he was a stubborn ass , yes that's exactly what he was . He would never ask her directly and yet she loved him for all that twistedness. Now Sid's words made so much sense to her and she felt so delighted that the next instant she knew she had relaxed herself in his arms which were now comfortably holding onto her waist . She let her arms go round his neck and moved her lips slightly in an attempt to participate in that kiss which was by now shooting her heartbeat and making her knees turn to jelly . God ! She was so much in love with him , was so desperately in love with him . He was the only man who could turn the anger she felt for him into something so dangerously sensual. She kissed him back hungrily , letting out all that anger and dejection he had caused to her all this while . She slowly let one of her hands rest against his shoulder and then gripped it hard , causing him to momentarily separate from her and look at her hand and its death grip on his shoulder . Nikki opened her eyes slowly , visibly affected by what had just passed between them.

"Abhi" , she called out his name shyly and no longer had he heard it , he bent down and claimed her lips again , pushing her further against the wall , completely overtaken by desire . Somewhere through that silence and the acknowledgement of their bottled up attraction and longing for each other , Nikki's pager let out a beep and Abhi saw his eyes open . He let go off her waist and then separated from her . Nikki heard the pager too and rushed to it .

"You had your pager with you ? Why did you not tell me ?" , he asked her even as his heart refused to calm down at all those moments that had just passed between them.

"You never asked me." , she replied cheekily and pretended to be busy with whatever she was doing . But he could see how shaken she was too . How she fidgeted and how her hands shivered . He desperately wanted to pull her close again and finish off what he had just started .

"We need to open the door Abhi. I am required in the O.P.D" , she said all of a sudden and he realized that they were still locked up in that room . He nodded and asked her for her pager ."I'll page Sid and ask him to get someone to open the door and then ... then ask him to ask that person to go back ." , he said gravely and Nikki understood that he was worried about being seen locked with her inside the lab and something in his manner told her that the worry was solely on her part . He did not want people to get a wrong impression about her . She saw more tenderness come in her eyes ; but he was no longer looking at her .

Exactly five minutes later , Sid opened the door , a very naughty smile on his lips . His brother's message from Dr Nikita's pager and they were caught up in a lab together. This was such an amazing development and he couldn't wait to check it out himself . Of course , this was something others need not know . So he had walked into the utilities room and picked up all the tools that one would need to get a jammed door open and then come to the lab . Dr Nikita was fidgeting with some of the lab equipment and his brother was standing at a distance from her . Both of them seemed to be visibly flustered at being seen in that manner and Sid could not control his smile which was threatening to turn into a full fledged giggle .He was dying with curiosity to know how they had ended up getting locked over there . But that was something he would ask his brother only when Dr Nikita and he would admit their love to the world (and more importantly to each other).For now he had to assure Dr Nikita that she had no reason to be so flustered .

"Dr Nikita , relax . No one knows anything . I opened the door myself ."

Abhi turned to look at her for a brief instant and both Sid and he walked out of the lab . She gently touched her lips and was shocked to find how his taste and he still lingered on them .
